A couple of weeks ago, Withings attended the WebSummit event in Dublin where it revealed its next-generation of analogue smartwatch.
It will be in the price range of the Withings Activité Pop with a premium aspect,” Cédric Hutchings, CEO of Withings, told Wareable at the Summit.
“Taking feedback from our users we made it more premium, at a more affordable price.”
The French company’s new tracker, the Activite Steel, is now official. This will be the first release from Withings since January where the company debuted the Activite Pop.
The Activite Pop traded calf leather, polished steel, a sapphire dome and Swiss-made certification of the Activite, for a silicone strap, PVD-coated steel, and a mineral glass dome. The price difference is quite sizeable though. Its other features are identical. It is a Bluetooth-connected fitness tracker, capable of step-counting and sleep-tracking.
The new device announced today combines the premium quality of the original Activite with the affordability of the Activite Pop. The functionality is identical to the Activite and Activite Pop.
According to Withings, the Activité Steel was designed to have a “distinctive masculine feel”.
“While the tracker market is booming we see growing demand from health conscious people who are not willing to compromise their style,” says Cédric Hutchings, CEO of Withings.
“Steel is the perfect Christmas gift for those demanding trendsetters.”
The new Activite is made of steel and has “premium build quality”. The most obvious diffrenece between the more expensive Activite and Activite Steel is the strap. Like the Pop, it has silicone straps instead of leather, but certainly looks much smarter. The main watch hands have been darkened while the tracker dial has been enlarged and left white so that it dominates the face, giving more prominence to the fitness tracking aspect.
