BlazePod: the Flash Reflex Training system for everyone

crowdfunding-picThe gym is pretty dull, right? Gym memberships don’t come cheap, yet shockingly 80% of Americans who have one do not actually go to the gym! To get you off the sofa and breaking a sweat, the team at BlazePod have come up with an innovative new system allowing anyone, from fitness enthusiasts to elite athletes, to improve their fitness level.

The wireless, portable system uses lights and sensors with pre-programmed exercises to help you increase agility, reaction time and more. You essentially get a Flash Reflex Training system, designed to supercharge your workouts.

The concept is relatively simple. Choose from one of more than 100 exercises via the smartphone app. When each pod lights up, it prompts the user to move. The water-resistant and smash-proof pods are designed to flawlessly integrate into exercises, pushing you to work on your reaction time and reflexes, as well as agility, speed, balance, and stamina. Users can run through different training modules and measure their performance down to the millisecond.

“BlazePod started as a fun side project. One of my best friends, who’s a personal trainer, asked me to create a light system to help him train his students,” says Yaniv Shneiderman, founder and CEO of BlazePod.

“I love tech challenges, it’s both my profession and my hobby, so I decided to go for it. He uploaded a video of the workout on Facebook, and I got a bunch of requests for the system. I explained it’s not a product, but people kept on asking, so I decided to make it one.”

One of the most appealing features of the product is that it has a modular design. It works with as few as 2 pods and as many as 24 at a time, depending on which exercises you choose.

The pods will communicate with each other and the smartphone app via Bluetooth up to a distance of around 50 metres. To add a bit more variety, you can use the suction cups and straps to attach BlazePod to poles, fences, doors, mirrors, and pretty much anything else with a flat surface. You can train alone, with a friend or as a group – anywhere.
