Fitbit has named Hong Kong as the word’s most active country in 2018. To reach this finding, the company crunched data from its database of more than 20 million users across the globe.

Fitbit owners living in the country managed to log 10,493 steps per day last year. Spain came in second with 10,002 average steps. The top five were rounded off by Ireland, Sweden, and Germany with 9,726, 9,609, and 9,601 average steps respectively.
This means that only Hong Kong and Spain topped the magic 10,000 number that many people aim for. But, as we’ve written before, this figure is entirely arbitrary. Most official sources suggest to aim for anywhere between 8,000 and 10,000 steps. But there is no one-size fits all approach and your step goal can shift over time. It’s best to start slow and build up over time to a higher number.
The spring weather put a spring in the step of people around the world last year. May 1st was the day with the most outdoor runs, and after tallying up active minutes, Fitbit researchers found May 5th to be the most active day of the year.
Sleep is no less important. It plays a vital role in good health and well-being throughout your life. Getting enough quality kip time at the right times can help protect your mental health, physical health, quality of life, and safety.
Users in Finland know this and have topped the charts logging an average of 410 minutes of sleep in 2018. That’s close to the recommended 7 hours a night. Other top snoozers live in New Zealand, Ireland, Belgium, and the Netherlands.
Your resting heart rate is important, too. In fact it’s probably the single best indicator of your health hand fitness.
Most people have a resting heart rate between 60 to 100 beats per minute, but lower heart rates may be a measure of good cardio fitness. In the US, Oregon topped the list of US locales with the healthiest heart stats. Other cities amongst the top fine included Santa Barbara, Santa Maria, and San Luis Obispo, CA, Twin Falls, ID, Monterey-Salinas, CA, and Juneau, AK.
