Amazon Prime Day 2021 is just around the corner. If you are after a smartwatch, fitness tracker or other health gear there will be some great savings. The two-day deals bonanza will take place on Monday June 21st and Tuesday June 22nd.
What is Amazon Prime Day 2021?
It seems Prime Day has been with us for a long time but you might be surprised to learn that Amazon introduced it only in 2015 to boost a summer spending slump. In the short time since then it has become Amazon’s most successful shopping event surpassing even Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The mega sale started as a US-only event, but it has now expanded to other countries.

Each year new records are broken. In 2020 Amazon sold $10.4 billion worth of goods, up nearly a half on the $7.16 billion generated in 2019.
Amazon Prime Day 2021 – when is it?
Prime Day is typically held in mid-July. However, last year Amazon pushed it back to October due to the coronavirus pandemic. The later date, no doubt, helped sales as it offered a pre-holiday shopping season boost to sales. But this sparked a whole season of discounts leading up to December.
However, in 2021 we are seeing a much earlier Prime Day. The deals bonanza starts on June 21st and ends on June 22nd. So while last year it was the latest Prime Day to ever take place, this year it is the earliest. So mark those dates in your calendar now.
Preparing for Amazon Prime Day 2021 deals
As its name indicates, this is an event for Amazon Prime Members. To become one you need to pay a $119 annual subscription. This has lots of benefits including much faster (and free) delivery, rewards, deals, access to books/movies/TV shows/music and much more.
The good news is that you can still take advantage of the deals without actually paying out for the annual Prime Member subscription. Amazon offers a free 1 month trial. As long as you cancel before the month is up you won’t be charged.
The only caveat is that you can only do this once. But if you have not taken advantage of the offer previously and would like access to great deals on Prime Day, now might be a good time to activate the free trial.
Smartwatches & fitness trackers: discounts we expect to see
Pretty much all major smartwatch and fitness tracker brands will offer savings on their gear. They always do.
If you’ve been saving up for an Apple Watch, Samsung smartwatch, Garmin sports watch, a Fitbit – pretty soon you’ll be able to pick up some great discounts. That’s not saying there are no excellent savings to be had right now. But the 48 hour period on June 21st and 22nd will see across the board slashing of prices.
The best place to check for deals will be Amazon’s Prime Day deals page. This will also include Lighting Deals, i.e. savings which will only last a few hours or while stocks last. There will also be some early Prime Day deals.
So prepare your shopping list in the next week or so. We will scour all the Amazon listings prior and during the event – to bring you the best deals on smartwatches, fitness trackers and other health gear.
