Samsung Galaxy Fit3 may launch by the end of 2022

Samsung’s wearable ambitions may not end with the Galaxy Watch 5 line in 2022. The company will reportedly also release the Galaxy Fit3 activity band.

This is according to information from the Korean branch of the Samsung Community forums (in Korean) (Via). One of the people on the forums posed a question about the Galaxy Fit3, and when we might see it. A Samsung moderator spilled the beans on the potential release date by saying the activity band would most likely launch by the end of 2022. Adding that if there’s a delay, we might see it in early 2023.

If we do see the Galaxy Fit3 in 2022, a most likely release would be in September or October. It wouldn’t make sense to unveil a new wearable beyond mid-November as the holiday sales are in full swing by then.

The next excellent opportunity might be at the start of 2023. This is when the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas occurs each year. In January 2022 it returned to a in-person format following a virtual gathering the previous year due to the coronavirus.

Apart from a possible launch date, the only other info that was revealed by the moderator was the likely price. Fit3 is expected to retail at the same price as Fit2. Around KRW 50,000 which translates into $60 or €50.

It has been a while since we saw the launch of Galaxy Fit2. You need to go all the way back to September 2020. The major upgrade that iteration brought over its predecessor was a doubling of battery life to more than two weeks. It also comes with a larger display (1.1” versus 0.9”).

Room for improvement can be seen with the addition of blood oxygen tracking which has become pretty standard over the past couple of years. Don’t be surprised if there’s a further increase in screen size. That seems to be all the rage these days blurring the line between fitness bands and smartwatches.

Built-in GPS could also be a possibility as we are seeing an increasing number fitness bands with this offering. Although one would expect the wearable to be more expensive than its predecessor if this is the case.

If the info on Galaxy Fit3 is accurate, it means we will not see the wearable alongside the Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro. They are expected to go on pre-order on August 10th, with actual availability starting on August 26th. It seems more likely Fit3 will be launched alongside the Galaxy S23 smartphone, which is also looking at a late 2022 or early 2023 launch window.
