OnePlus is reportedly looking to release Watch 2 and Band 2 in Q3

We have a report from another well known leaker that suggests we might see the OnePlus Watch 2 and OnePlus Band 2 in the coming months.

The first generation OnePlus Watch was released with much hype in 2021. Ultimately the device was met with rather dismal reviews. Now the company is looking to make things right with OnePlus Watch 2 and Band 2. Both will reportedly launch in Q3 2022.

The latest info suggesting this may be the case comes from StuffListings. Other wearables that will launch at the same time include two fully wireless submersible headphones. One will cary the Nord brand, while the more premium version will be from OnePlus.

Previous rumours come from Pricebaba, and leaker Mukul Sharma. He claims that both devices have entered production stage in Europe and Asia. No info was revealed on possible specs so its anyone’s guess as far as what to expect.

The original watch is plagued with issues

The original OnePlus Watch was launched in March 2021. On paper its specs seem pretty decent. The timepiece packs an OLED display, built-in GPS, 2 week battery life and the typical gamut of fitness tracking sensors. Plus it ran on a proprietary version of WearOS. Not bad, most would agree, for something that costs around $160.

Unfortunately it turns out this tech was plagued with issues. Fitness and sleep tracking was off the mark, there was no always-on display option, you couldn’t tap the watch face to wake it up, etc. Granted, some of these were resolved with firmware updates – but it seemed like the company rushed the device out.

The OnePlus Band fared slightly better. The budget wearable comes with a color display, lots of sports modes, an SpO2 sensor and two weeks of battery life. And all this for just $34.

It will be interesting to see whether the next OnePlus wearable effort gets a more positive response. With so much competition in this space, it is not easy for new entrants to make a mark. OnePlus has the advantage of having a well known brand.

In addition to generation two of its watch and activity band, there’s talk we could see a Nord branded smarwatch. But rather than on the upcoming second generation, this is said to be based on the original timepiece.
