I'm a Fitbit 5 owner whose watch face keeps going blank despite having charge. Have done everything suggested. Is it possible it's linked to trying to move your account to Google rather than the update? I was told to move my account to Google but after a while a note came up saying my model wouldn't work on Google. Yet during that time it downloaded Google Wall onto my fitbit 5 and presumably Google Wallet. It seems to me that when my watch goes accidentally to the Google Wall, the screen goes blank. There is apparently a safety aspect where the screen goes blank with the wallet until you unlock it. Could this be why we're all having such an issue? And yes I did also download the software update. Can someone from FitBit please comment on why we now have Google Wall on our watches when our devices are supposedly too old to move to Google?

My Charge 5 is only coming back on for an hour and then dying daily. All I can do is recharge it and a day or 2 later, it will work again for another hour. So frustrating!

The Charge 5 is my 5th (yes 5th) fitbit device. While I have been a loyal fitbit consumer, I have not received the same in return. When my Charge 4 died (just out of warranty) by 1 month, they offered me a 35% discount. However, to use the discount I had it purchase it via their site at a higher cost than I was able to purchase through another site. So needless to say, I did not use their discount. Customer Service reassured me the firware fix will be pushed out by Tuesday evening (August 1st). Let's see how this goes...

After trying all of the possible fixes, none of them worked. I could still sync my Charge 5 with my phone, and my device would vibrate. I noticed that if I held down the button on the charging cable, the display would light up and stay lit. So I held down the button and then used the menus on the device screen to change the screen settings to "Always stay on". I also changed the display setting to be dim to save battery life. This seems to work, for now, as a temporary work around. I'll see if Fitbit comes up with a more permanent fix, but if/when I buy a new device ... it will not be a Fitbit.

I am one of the extremely hacked off Charge 5 users and am having a somewhat hilarious go-round with customer support just to try to get the discount for a new one. Their solution steps include a request for a video of me doing the three pulse reset. In what world does that even make sense? Sounds like a new dance step.
Google, just say you are sorry instead of pretending this is not an epic fail. And don’t drive me to an Apple watch.

Mine is doing the same thing their update caused this, it will not work now.
They sent me an email 35% off a new one immediately after my phone call, the three calls to Fitbit I got sent to a call center in Columbia and one person said after trying everything it most likely from the update and the new transition.
It’s just over the warranty period by 4 months this is a big scam it worked perfectly before. I will not buy another Fitbit product going forward and will tell everyone.

I have been bricked as well. it was working fine this morning, by noon it won't turn the screen on. when i try to push the button on the charger it vibrates, however nothing happens. when i try to reset it it does nothing. Why would they release an update that is untested, furthermore, why would they not suspend the update so that users who don't have the update dont get the bugged updated! i honestly think someone needs to start a class action against Fitbit for this if they don't offer replacements via exchange (so they can have all the bricked devices and THEY can fix them, not the consumers) for ALL charge 5 owners effected by this and pull the virus-update off the market.

You are right it is obviously a scheme Google doing to get you to buy a new because they no longer want to support older model. This is all started with charge 3. I had it for numbers of yeArs until it got updated to the presumably last version and bricked it. There were others in the same boat and they refused to listen to us and just brushed it off with a 30% discount if you accept it. Never again will support this company.
