It’s smart rings galore as Noise Luna enters the fray

The smart ring market continues to expand as another tech heavyweight steps into the ring. Noise has just unveiled its contender in this rapidly growing sector – the Luna smart ring.

This device comes hot on the heels of recent entrants Ultrahuman, RingConn, and Boat, with Iris Ring set to join the fray by the end of the year. The pioneer in this space, Oura ring, now faces stiff competition from these newcomers, who are not only offering competitive prices but also eliminating the need for a monthly subscription.

Introducing the Noise Luna

Noise, founded in 2014 by Amit Khatri and Gaurav Khatri, is an Indian tech company specializing in smart wearables and wireless earphones. Known for its affordable, high-quality products, Noise has become a leading player in the Indian market.

The launch of the Luna smart ring marks its expansion into the smart ring segment. At the moment there is no confirmation the company will be offering the device outside of its home market. But we would not rule it out.

This ring, designed with advanced sensors and a robust build, effectively helps users enhance their lifestyle patterns. Currently, you can pre-book the device on Gonoise.com and take advantage of discounts with an exclusive Priority Access pass. The pass, priced at Rs 2,000, provides an additional discount of Rs 1,000 on the day of purchase, translating to a direct cash benefit of Rs 3,000 for pass holders. Purchasers can choose from one of seven sizes and five colours, including Sunlit Gold, Rose Gold, Stardust Silver, Lunar Black, and Midnight Black.

Features and functionality

The Luna Ring is very much along the other offerings in this market segment. Starting with design, the wearable packs a fighter-jet grade titanium body and a diamond-like coating, resisting scratches and corrosion to ensure a robust build quality. It’s hypoallergenic, making it suitable for every skin type.

Luna Smart Ring aims to foster cognitive functioning and enhance users’ lifestyles. To this end it delivers three core scores – Sleep, Readiness, and Activity, along with actionable insights for each.

On-board are algorithms and sensors that measure body temperature, exercise, physiological states once every five minutes. The wearable uses these responses while constantly reading heart rate and SpO2 levels to derive the core health scores.

Noise says the ring is compatible with iOS 14/Android 6 and above. It is powered with Bluetooth Low-Energy (BLE 5) technology and is water-resistant down to depths of 50 meters. The ring boasts a perfectly decent battery life of up to 7 days on a single 60-minute charge.

Increasing competition

The number of entrants in the smart ring space since the start of this year has surprised us. It seems we are treated to a fresh new announcement every few weeks.

Advancements in miniaturisation technology have made this sharp rise in offerings possible. This, along with the growing consumer demand for wearable tech that seamlessly integrates with daily life, has fuelled the expansion of the market. The ability to pack powerful sensors and robust computing capabilities into a small, wearable form factor like a ring has opened up new possibilities for health and lifestyle tracking.

With the launch of the Luna Ring, Noise has expanded the boundaries of its wearable ecosystem in India. As the smart ring market continues to grow, consumers can look forward to more innovative and affordable options in the near future.
