OnePlus Watch 2R

OnePlus Watch 2R is a cheaper alternative of the original, 16 July reveal

OnePlus is gearing up for the launch of a new smartwatch – the Watch 2R. The company has just teased a full reveal on July 16th, where the timepiece will launch alongside the Nord Buds 3 Pro earphones, the Nord 3 phone and the Pad 2 tablet.

An image of the upcoming device has been posted – you can see at the start of this article.

A more budget-friendly iteration

The 2R is a more budget-friendly version of the existing model, rather than a new high-end offering. It is expected to retail for slightly less than the $299 of its sibling. The company has used the “R” branding before to denote less expensive versions of its existing products.

Released only a few months ago, the OnePlus Watch 2 packs a sleek design crafted from high-quality stainless steel with a vibrant AMOLED display. Below the hood is a powerful dual-engine architecture that optimized performance and battery life through intelligent chipset switching. There is also a comprehensive suite of health and fitness features for monitoring heart rate, blood oxygen, stress, sleep, and more.

OnePlus Watch 2 has garnered attention for its impressive battery life, offering up to 100 hours in smart mode and up to 12 days in power saver mode, dual frequency GPS for enhanced location accuracy during outdoor activities, and access to a wide range of apps and services through Wear OS by Google. The only other wearOS watch that can currently match that sort of battery life is the Mobvoi TicWatch 5 Pro range.

Known specs

Some of the cost savings for the 2R have been achieved by simplifying the design. Rather than the lopsided casing, the company has opted for a more standard circular shape. Also, instead of stainless steel, the 2R will have an aluminum build. Most likely, the Sapphire crystal screen protection of the OnePlus Watch 2 will also go away.

Recent appearances on China’s TENAA and an Indian regulator, plus a FCC certification has recently landed. They shed some more light on specs.

Notably, the new smartwatch will support 10W fast charging and a 500 mAh battery. Additionally, the device will boast a range of connectivity options, including WCDMA, TD-LTE, LTE FDD, WLAN, and Bluetooth, ensuring seamless communication and data transfer.

The timing of the OnePlus Watch 2R is suspect according to certain media – just ahead of the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 range. But let’s be real – is this news really going to steal the thunder from Samsung? Not very likely.

  • I’ve owned 3 samsung watches. The active 2 the original and the classic. All except the original have had issues. Back came off the active 2 and the classic kept having a short batter life that I had to reload from factory image. I even made a YouTube video about the factory image reset (not a factory reset. That does NOTHING)
