Pebble Round 2 is finally leaving the warehouse, although only 200 watches have been built so far and the full preorder queue is now expected to stretch into December.

So yes, it is finally happening. But this is very much the beginning of shipping rather than the point where thousands of Round 2 watches suddenly start landing on doorsteps.

Pebble says the first batch of watches have arrived at its warehouse and it is now contacting the earliest customers to confirm their orders. That is a genuine production milestone after months of delays.

The case is still holding things up

The problem remains the stainless steel case. Pebble says some production samples had such noticeable cosmetic issues that, during certain rounds of inspection, only around 15% passed its incoming quality checks.

That fits with what we have been hearing for months. Back in June, we covered the case manufacturing problem that prevented Pebble from getting mass production underway. By July, things appeared to be moving again and the company expected roughly 14,000 preorders to be shipped by the end of September.

Clearly, that timetable did not survive contact with the factory floor. Pebble now says the next batch of 1,000 watches will enter production after the October 1 to 7 holiday period in China and should ship around the end of October.

Production of the remaining orders is then scheduled to start at the beginning of November, with shipping beginning toward the end of that month. The current goal is to have all preorders out by the end of December.

Pebble Round 2

Eight-day battery life is the other surprise

The more unexpected part of the update is battery life. When Pebble announced Round 2 in January, the company estimated roughly two weeks between charges. Its current specifications still list around 10 to 14 days.

Right now, though, Pebble says the average with the current version of PebbleOS is closer to eight days. Turning off the touchscreen, disabling shake-to-backlight and using a watchface that refreshes less frequently can apparently push that into the 10 to 14-day range.

That eight-day figure is a long way from daily charging. But there is a fairly large difference between getting around eight days during normal use and reaching two weeks only after switching off some features.

There is some precedent for this improving through software. As we noted in our July Pebble update, Pebble 2 Duo climbed from a median of 17 days to more than 30 days after optimisation, while Pebble Time 2 had reached around 21 days. Round 2 may follow the same path.

Elsewhere, the hardware is essentially ready. Pebble says the display, battery, buttons, software, certification and environmental testing are complete, leaving production of acceptable metal cases as the main bottleneck.

There is plenty of software waiting for the hardware as well. Developers have already produced around 1,400 apps and watchfaces specifically for Round 2, while another 3,000 originally made for Pebble Time Round can automatically scale to the new display.

For buyers, the important bit is that Round 2 has finally crossed the line from beta hardware into actual production. Just don’t interpret that as meaning the wait is over for everyone.

Pebble Index 01 rings are starting to reach customers, giving us the first proper look at how the voice wearable behaves outside Pebble’s own demos. Early feedback is mixed, but there is an encouraging pattern emerging. The basic idea seems to work well, while the software around it still feels very new.

One of the first owners to post detailed impressions said setup was straightforward and that they were quickly using Index 01 to create shopping lists and reminders. More impressively, voice recognition apparently worked well in a noisy train station, which is a useful real-world test for a device built almost entirely around spoken input.

That lines up with what Pebble has claimed from the start. Index 01 is designed to be held close to the mouth, allowing the microphone to focus on nearby speech rather than the wider environment.

The core idea seems to work

Other early reports are positive too. One Android owner said the hardware and software worked smoothly, with commands interpreted quickly and accurately. They had already connected Index 01 to their own server through webhooks and started experimenting with custom actions.

An iPhone user also managed to create reminders through Apple Reminders and Google Tasks once Bluetooth permissions were enabled for the Pebble app.

That flexibility was one of the more interesting parts when Pebble first announced Index 01. The hardware is deliberately simple. Most of the useful stuff happens through the app, where recordings can become notes, reminders and other actions.

There are already a few rough edges, though. One owner found Android music controls noticeably slow, with around four seconds between a double tap and the requested action.

Software is the weak point for now

Several Android users have run into more serious problems. In the growing thread of early owner experiences, some managed to pair the ring but found that recordings were not appearing in the Index feed. One owner fixed an initial pairing issue with a factory reset, only to find that recordings still would not transfer.

Another user reported that onboarding never appeared properly after pairing. That is more annoying on Index 01 than it would be on most wearables because the battery cannot be recharged. Troubleshooting is not going to destroy the battery overnight, but every test still uses part of a finite resource.

Pebble has already warned buyers to expect early software bugs, so none of this is especially surprising. The first production units are effectively showing where the weak spots are.

Sizing may also be inconsistent. One early owner found the production ring much tighter than expected and was glad they had moved up a size. But another owner reported the opposite, saying their production ring felt slightly larger than the sizing model they had used.

That makes it hard to say Index 01 simply runs small. Pebble has advised buyers to size up when uncertain, and these first deliveries suggest that advice is worth taking seriously.

It is still far too early for a verdict. Only a small number of production units are in the wild, and people with problems are naturally more likely to post about them.

Still, the first owner reports answer one useful question. Index 01 does not appear to fall apart once it leaves the demo environment. Voice capture can work well, the integrations look genuinely useful and the open approach gives the ring plenty of room to grow.

For now, the hardware concept looks more convincing than the software supporting it.

Pebble Round 2 should enter mass production soon, with all 14,000 pre-orders expected to ship by the end of September. Index 01 has already entered mass production, with most orders now due to ship by the end of August.

Pebble has also released PebbleOS 4.23.0, adding simpler backlight modes, revised ambient-light behaviour and several smaller improvements.

Round 2 finally has a production window

Pebble outlined the new timelines in its July production and software update. The update gives Round 2 buyers a firmer date after several months of shifting estimates.

Mass production should begin during the final week of July. Pebble plans to increase output gradually and expects the complete pre-order run to take around two months.

That puts the final shipments at the end of September. Buyers should receive an email roughly two weeks before their watch is ready, asking them to confirm the delivery address, choose any accessories and pay additional taxes where required.

Our previous Round 2 update covered the cosmetic case issue that stopped Pebble from starting production in May. The factory has since produced a revised stainless steel bottom case, while another batch of beta watches went out at the beginning of July.

Pebble is also preparing custom leather straps for the circular watch. Brown and black versions should cost between $20 and $30. Every pre-order already includes a silicone strap and charger.

Index 01 starts shipping in small numbers

Index 01 has moved further along. Pebble says several thousand rings have been assembled and small quantities are now shipping as the factory increases production. Nearly all pre-orders should leave by the end of August. A few size and colour combinations may slip into September.

The software is also taking shape. Index 01 now works through the main Pebble mobile app, with support for Apple Reminders, Google Tasks, calendars and Obsidian. Users can send recordings or transcriptions to their own apps and servers through webhooks.

Optional cloud backup uses encryption keys controlled by the user. That is a sensible fit for a device built around voice capture, particularly for people who do not want every recording locked inside one service.

PebbleOS 4.23.0 focuses on the backlight

In separate news, the PebbleOS 4.23.0 changelog lists four simplified backlight modes. Max Brightness improves visibility but can increase battery drain by around 30%. Standard remains the default, while Battery Saver reduces power use. Advanced keeps the detailed controls for people who prefer to tune the behaviour manually.

Pebble has also revised the ambient-light algorithm. The company does not promise a dramatic change, but the automatic backlight has been one of the rougher parts of the Pebble Time 2 experience. More predictable behaviour would be a useful improvement.

The update adds alarm sound previews, built-in Polish support and better Arabic rendering with a new font. It also includes security fixes for Alloy, Pebble’s system for running native JavaScript apps.

Battery optimisation continues separately. Median battery life for Pebble 2 Duo has risen from 17 days last summer to more than 30 days, while Pebble Time 2 currently sits at around 21 days.

That gap remains worth noting. Our Pebble Time 2 versus Pebble 2 Duo comparison was based on an advertised target of up to 30 days for both watches. Time 2 is moving in the right direction, but it has not reached that figure yet.

Pebble has now built more than 23,000 Time 2 watches and fulfilled over 80% of pre-orders. Grey and blue units should ship by July 28, followed by black and red versions on July 31. Once those orders clear, Time 2 should briefly become available without a pre-order wait.

Pebble has confirmed multiple button-related reports involving Pebble Time 2, with some failures traced to an incorrectly assembled internal retaining clip. A teardown now shows what that fault looks like inside the watch, while Pebble’s unusually short 30-day written warranty remains part of the concern.

An owner published their Pebble Time 2 teardown on iFixit after one of the watch’s buttons came loose. Opening the case revealed retaining clips on the other button stems, while the affected button had no clip at all.

One missing part explains the failure

That provides a convincing explanation for this individual failure. The button showed no obvious wear or repair damage. It appears to have left the factory without the small component needed to secure it inside the case.

Pebble has since confirmed 32 reports involving button problems. In its July hardware update, the company said an interior clip had been assembled incorrectly in some cases, allowing the button to pop out. Pebble has changed the production-line process but has not said how many of these reports involved this exact fault.

The teardown does not prove that Pebble Time 2 has a widespread button problem. More than 19,000 watches were in use when Pebble published its figures. Still, it provides a clear example of an assembly error making it through the factory checks.

Our earlier report covered Pebble Time 2 entering mass production after completing testing. Pebble had introduced production checks for water resistance and button operation. This missing clip shows why a watch can pass final checks while still containing a fault that appears later.

Glass damage has also drawn attention

Other owners have reported cracked front glass after relatively minor impacts. The glass sits slightly above the surrounding metal frame, leaving its edge exposed.

Pebble says it has received 51 reports of cracked glass, representing around 0.25% of watches in use. The company says each affected owner received a free replacement and that factory testing found normal durability compared with similar smartwatches.

Those figures provide useful context. They do not prove that the display is unusually fragile across the full production run. Most owners have not reported cracked glass.

Repairs may not be straightforward

Four screws hold the back of the watch in place, so opening the Pebble Time 2 looks relatively simple. The internal design becomes less repair-friendly once the back comes off.

Pebble solders the 185mAh battery directly to the main board instead of using a plug-in connector. Replacing it should be possible but the job would require soldering. Reaching the display also requires heat because Pebble glues the front glass and screen into place.

An experienced repairer could work on the watch. But most owners would still need professional help for a battery or display replacement.

Support goes beyond the written warranty

Pebble’s formal warranty covers manufacturing defects for only 30 days after delivery. That remains unusually short for a smartwatch and gives owners little time to identify faults that take longer to appear.

Its support practice has so far proved more generous. Pebble says everyone who reported a hardware problem received a free replacement with free worldwide shipping, regardless of warranty status.

The company has replaced 330 Pebble Time 2 watches. High power consumption is the most common hardware problem, followed by touchscreen issues, cracked glass and button faults. Pebble initially replaced around 70 watches with touchscreen problems but now believes software may have caused some of those cases.

There is not enough evidence to call the missing clip a production-wide defect. Even so, new owners should inspect all four buttons and report looseness promptly. Pebble’s published figures offer some reassurance that the company has not used the short written warranty to reject hardware claims.

Pebble Round 2 is now in beta testing, but mass production has not started yet. Eric Migicovsky says shipping is still expected to begin in July, with all preordered units planned to go out by September.

That is not a huge delay, but it does change slightly the shape of the launch. The revived Pebble project now looks like it is choosing a cleaner production run over rushing the first watches out the door.

Pebble Round 2 is close but not in mass production yet

Migicovsky posted the update after reviewing the latest pre-production samples in China.

Quick @Pebble Round 2 update – we’re making progress but not in mass production (MP) yet!

TLDR
– Currently in beta testing (In US? Apply here to join https://t.co/0ibw8RHCX8)
– On track to start shipping Pebble Round 2 watches in July
– Current plan is to be finished shipping… pic.twitter.com/iQVIMl0Op9
— Eric Migicovsky (@ericmigi) June 8, 2026

As can be seen, the watch is currently in beta testing, with US users invited to apply. That suggests the hardware is far enough along for real-world use but still not at the point where Pebble wants to press the production button.

For anyone waiting on a preorder, the current plan is for shipping to start next months Pebble expects to finish shipping all preordered Round 2 units in September, so this will not be a single big launch wave where everyone gets a tracking number at once.

The delay comes down to a case detail

The reason for the hold-up is not software, battery life or a major hardware redesign. Migicovsky says the latest sample had a cosmetic issue near the lugs, caused by a CNC milling step close to where the strap connects to the watch case.

That may sound minor, but on a watch like the Round 2, the case finish does a lot of the heavy lifting. This is not a thick outdoor watch where a tiny mark disappears into the overall chunkiness. It is a small round smartwatch with a simple design, so visible case details stand out quickly.

Pebble is now modifying the metal-injection-moulding tooling to avoid that CNC cut. In plain English, the company wants to fix the production process rather than accept a mark that would probably annoy buyers the moment they noticed it.

Leather straps are coming too

There was also a smaller accessory update. Black and brown leather straps will be available as add-ons for Pebble Round 2.

The watch already has a clean circular case and the sample shown in the update looks more like a simple everyday watch than a gadget trying too hard. Leather straps should push it further in that direction.

This still looks like a careful relaunch

A small manufacturing issue has appeared, the tooling needs tweaking and shipping shifts into July. That is not dramatic, but it is exactly the kind of thing that happens when a small hardware project gets close to production.

Pebble could have framed this more aggressively and promised everything was fine. Instead, Migicovsky showed the problem, explained the fix and gave a clearer shipping window. For a preorder product, that sort of visibility helps more than pretending the schedule never moved.

Pebble Index 01 is now in its second Production Verification Test, with the company aiming to manufacture the first 2,000 units by mid-May and begin shipping shortly after. Alongside that update, the team has shared a clearer delivery timeline.

PVT2 suggests production is getting close

The first Production Verification Test happened at the end of March and exposed two main hardware problems. Some units were suffering BLE amplifier failures caused by possible ESD damage during assembly, while a change to the microphone waterproof membrane caused audio testing failures on certain devices.

According to Eric Migicovsky, both problems were fixed through changes to the assembly line. That has allowed the project to move into PVT2, which is usually one of the final serious checkpoints before larger scale manufacturing begins.

The current goal is to manufacture the first 2,000 Index 01 units by mid-May and start shipping them out from there. rePebble says it expects the full pre-order run to take around three months to complete, which would place the finish line somewhere around July.

Of course, that comes with the usual warning that delays can still happen. Still, compared to earlier uncertainty, this is the first timeline that feels reasonably specific. If things hold, early buyers should not be waiting much longer.

Brushed silver replaces polished silver

There is also a design update. The polished silver finish is being dropped in favour of a brushed silver option instead. Brushed surfaces tend to hide scratches better and usually age more gracefully than highly polished ones, so this may actually be the better long-term choice.

Customers with existing orders can switch colours through the rePebble order management page.

Software is starting to look far more interesting

The hardware update is worth noting, but the software side may be even more interesting. Alpha testers have been using early Index 01 units for the past few months, helping squash bugs across both iOS and Android.

Optional fully encrypted cloud backup has been added, along with local speech-to-text powered by on-device processing. Users can route audio or transcriptions to a webhook, which opens the door for direct integrations with AI agents like OpenClaw.

There is also Home Assistant support, plus integrations for Beeper, Notion, Apple Reminders, Google Tasks and Android music controls. Bring-your-own MCP server support is there too. More work is still coming, including a stronger UI and additional reminder app support like Todoist and Tasks.org.

The Pebble Time 2 has officially entered mass production, according to a fresh update shared on the Pebble Discord by a Core Devices staff member. The news confirms that the long-awaited watch has cleared its final engineering stages and that factories are now building units at scale.

The update lines up with earlier guidance from the Pebble team that pointed to early March as the moment manufacturing would begin. That schedule appears to be holding, which is a good sign for the thousands of people waiting on their pre-orders.

Screenshot from Pebble Discord community

Reaching mass production is not a small thing for a hardware project of this size. It means the design has passed engineering validation, production verification and factory readiness checks. The hardware is now locked. The focus shifts entirely to building units and getting them out the door.

The Pebble Time 2 carries forward the core idea that made the original platform popular, a low power smartwatch built around an e-paper display with long battery life. The device runs PebbleOS and supports the existing ecosystem of apps and watch faces that longtime fans will remember. The watch carries a 3ATM water resistance rating, meaning everyday splashes and swimming are covered.

Shipping window approaching

The first watches are expected to reach customers in early April, with all pre-orders expected to be fulfilled by around June. Those dates represent a shift from the original estimates, with some buyers now looking at roughly a four month delay compared to what was first communicated. The extra time went into resolving physical issues during production verification, the kind of problems that cannot be patched with a software update after the fact.

For context, the factory is aiming for around 500 units a day once the production line is properly ramped up. From there the watches move to a distribution centre before heading out to buyers.

There is an extra layer of meaning to this milestone for many Pebble followers. The original Pebble Time 2 was announced back in 2016 but never shipped after Pebble was acquired by Fitbit. The current project is effectively picking up that idea almost a decade later, with updated hardware and a revived ecosystem behind it.

With mass production now apparently underway, the long wait for Pebble Time 2 may finally be entering its final stretch.

Thanks to new development work, microPebble now runs on iOS. The open source Pebble companion app, originally built for Android, has just taken a big step forward with the help of the Intent team and Rebble’s ongoing support.

Why microPebble exists

microPebble was first created by Matej Drobnič in 2023 as a lightweight, flexible Pebble companion built on libpebble3. He wanted something that focused only on the features he cared about, without the overhead of a full ecosystem app. Even though Core Devices later open sourced their official Pebble companion, microPebble kept evolving in its own direction.

The main difference between the two is scope. CoreApp, now simply called Pebble in app stores, supports Core Devices’ full hardware range. It’s built to serve their current and future watches. It’s also tied into their official Pebble Appstore and is designed with new customers in mind.

Essential reading: Top fitness trackers and health gadgets

microPebble, on the other hand, is vendor-neutral. It’s designed for the whole PebbleOS ecosystem, not just one manufacturer. The idea is to offer something more flexible that can support watches from any source, including past Pebble models, community-made devices, and possibly even future hardware that doesn’t come from Core. That also includes deeper integration with Rebble services like the Timeline, Bobby (the voice assistant), and shared pins.

How it fits with the other Pebble app

At the moment, Pebble users have two options. One is Core Devices’ Pebble app, available on Android and iOS. It pairs with Pebble watches, manages apps and settings, and connects to the Pebble Appstore. It’s designed to work out of the box for new buyers and reflects Core’s priorities.

The other is microPebble. It’s not intended as a competitor to CoreApp, but as an alternative for users who want more control, or for those using devices that Core’s app doesn’t focus on. For example, Rebble has no reason to expect Core Devices to support watches made by other groups, but the Pebble community still values that kind of inclusiveness. That’s where microPebble fits in. It gives the community a way to shape the experience, build new features, and keep things running, even if Core’s priorities shift elsewhere.

There’s also a development angle. microPebble is open source and community-driven. That means people can contribute, test, and even fork it as needed. The recent work on iOS was only possible because the codebase is open, and the Rebble team could fund Intent to jump in and bring Compose MP to life on Apple’s platform.

A roadmap in progress

The current iOS build is a working proof of concept. It still needs polishing, and a few screens are missing. The plan is to reach feature parity with Android, clean up the branches, and merge the work back into Matej’s main repo. There are also changes to libpebble3 that need upstreaming.

Once that’s done, the goal is to start building more visual polish using the old Cobble UI designs. Intent will lay the groundwork, and other contributors can follow. The hope is that even people without app experience can get involved once the framework is in place.

Rebble sees this as a long-term play. They want microPebble to be a daily driver for anyone using Rebble Web Services. That includes getting Bobby fully functional, adding iOS features, and eventually making it easier to install through F-Droid or other alternative platforms. There’s even talk of desktop versions, thanks to the flexibility of Kotlin Multiplatform.

You can try it now

If you’re curious, you can already build and test microPebble on iOS. The source code and instructions are available in the micropebble-ios-poc repository on GitHub. Just clone it with submodules and follow the build steps. It’s early, and the repo will likely be temporary, but it’s a working demo that shows what’s possible.

Community feedback will shape what comes next. The team is discussing the next steps on the Rebble Dev Forum and Discord, and they’re open to ideas, testers, and contributors. Whether you’re using Core’s Pebble app or exploring microPebble, both paths help keep the Pebble platform alive.

Pebble’s new hardware is picking up steam right alongside the work on companion apps. The company has recently confirmed the Pebble Round 2, a circular watch running PebbleOS with a touchscreen, speaker, mic and battery life that can stretch up to a month. It’ll join the Pebble 2 Duo and Time 2, which are both already in production. There’s also the Index 01 smart ring on the way, built for quick voice memos that sync straight to your phone. With more PebbleOS devices landing this year, having something like microPebble in the mix makes a lot of sense.

Pebble has taken the wraps off its new Round 2 smartwatch. The device brings back the classic circular design with modern updates like a touchscreen, mic and speaker, along with up to 30 days of battery life.

This follows the teaser we covered in our previous article, where Pebble hinted at a January 2 reveal using a circular animation. As expected, the announcement wasn’t about a smart ring or fitness tracker. It was about completing the new lineup with yet another watch, and it’s exactly what many in the community were hoping for.

The return of a fan favourite shape

Round 2 takes cues from the original Pebble Time Round but adds a sharper 1.3 inch e-paper display, heart rate tracking and longer battery life. The stainless steel frame keeps it light and durable, while the polycarbonate backing helps keep the cost down. It’s thinner than most smartwatches at just 8.1mm, and measures 41.5mm across.

Interaction is handled by a touchscreen plus the classic four-button layout. You also get a mic and speaker, RGB backlight, and linear resonance actuator for haptics. Battery life is listed at 30 days, a big step up from the original round model. Like all Pebbles, it runs PebbleOS, supports mobile apps and is fully open source.

How it compares to Pebble Time 2

Round 2 is clearly aimed at users who prefer a sleeker, more compact form factor. It’s smaller, lighter and more minimal than Pebble Time 2. But it doesn’t sacrifice core features.

The main differences are in screen size, thickness and sensor set. Pebble Time 2 is slightly chunkier, with a 1.5 inch e-paper display and a square-ish body. It lacks a heart rate monitor but otherwise offers the same software experience, haptics, audio features and app support.

Essentially, Pebble Round 2 gives you a more stylish design and slightly better health tracking, while Time 2 leans into nostalgia and that retro-square feel.

Pricing and availability

Pebble Round 2 will retail for $199 and ships in May 2026. That’s $26 cheaper than the Time 2, which starts arriving in April. Both use the standard Pebble charger and target 30m water resistance. Strap width on Round 2 is 22mm, so plenty of aftermarket options will be available.

With the Index 01 smart ring already in production and Time 2 headed for delivery, Round 2 feels like a nice addition. It offers a different design language without giving up the core Pebble experience. We do know there are three new devices in development. This is one of them. The other two remain a mystery, for now.

Pebble has posted a teaser for a product reveal scheduled for January 2nd at 10am EST. The company hasn’t said what it is, but the timing and format strongly suggest this is one of the three unreleased devices mentioned in our earlier report.

The teaser shows a circular loading animation and the phrase “Check back around,” a prompt that’s already triggered speculation among fans.

This is likely the first of the unreleased three

In our previous article, we reported that three additional devices were in development at Pebble. That followed a year of revived hardware, including the Pebble 2 Duo, Pebble Time 2 and most recently the Index 01 smart ring.

But at least three further devices exist as early engineering samples, distinct from the current lineup. This teaser fits the timeline.

One theory gaining traction is that this points to a round watch. The language in the teaser and the visual motif both suggest a return to a circular form factor. That would make sense. A modernised Pebble Time Round, built on the updated colour e-paper tech and Time 2 internals, is something fans would love to see.

But that’s not the only plausible read. In our original report, we laid out several other possibilities for what those three unreleased devices might be. Beyond watches, a pendant notification wearable is a possibility. So is a compact media player, a PebbleOS desk companion or a cyberdeck concept. Even the long-rumoured small Android phone is still on the table.

Community reaction is split

Many are excited. Some are cautious. A few are openly frustrated.

Reddit threads quickly filled with calls for a round watch. Some users said they’d be disappointed if this ends up being another single-purpose device like the Index 01. Others said they don’t really care what it is as long as Pebble keeps making things that feel different.

One recurring theme is fitness tracking. Several users argued that if Pebble wants its devices to be used every day, especially as alternatives to Apple or Garmin, it needs better health data, waterproofing and battery performance.

A few users pointed to Migicovsky’s own blog post about why Pebble failed the first time. They warned that the current pace feels rushed. That the company might be repeating some of the same mistakes.

At the other end of the spectrum are those who want Pebble to stay weird. They’re not looking for VO2Max or third-party apps. They just want unique, minimal hardware that doesn’t try to be like everything else. These users tend to view the current pace as a strength. Pebble isn’t reacting to trends. It’s following its own roadmap.

What we don’t know yet what the three products are, we do know is that January 2nd should offer the first hard detail about what Pebble has been building behind the scenes. Whether it’s a round Time 2, a desk device or something no one saw coming, this is the moment where the roadmap starts to get real.
