The Withings BPM Vision, announced at CES 2025 is now available to buy. This is a smart blood pressure monitor that shows your readings on a big color screen, checks for AFib, and event lets you do a 30-second ECG right on the device. It’s simple to use, works for the whole family, and syncs automatically over Wi-Fi.

Blood pressure monitoring doesn’t have to be a hassle

The company has a long track record in connected blood pressure monitors, but BPM Vision feels like its most accessible product to date. It takes the complexity out of heart health tracking and turns it into something simple, fast and genuinely helpful.

Let’s be honest, tracking blood pressure at home often turns into a chore. Clunky devices, unclear readings and awkward setups don’t help. BPM Vision cuts through that with a design that’s clear and inviting. The large, color screen shows your results in real time using easy-to-read visuals and color-coded zones to help you instantly understand what the numbers mean. This includes clinical-grade blood pressure data and the added bonus of instant AFib detection, all with a single tap.

You also get the option to perform a 30-second ECG directly on the device. That’s a major step up in usability, especially for anyone keeping an eye on heart rhythm irregularities like atrial fibrillation. Early detection can be vital for stroke prevention, particularly for those with high blood pressure.

But BPM Vision isn’t just about data. It guides you with built-in tutorials, offers gentle reminders to stay consistent with measurements, and even throws in motivational nudges to keep you on track. All of this makes it easier to build and maintain a health habit that actually sticks.

It also works for more than just one person. With support for up to eight users and interchangeable cuffs for different arm sizes, BPM Vision suits the whole household. Which means everyone gets tailored insights inside the Withings app.

The device connects via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, syncing data automatically using AutoSync+. Your health stats are stored safely and can be shared with a doctor, who can access your measurements in real time. Battery life stretches up to six months between charges, and the included case doubles as a stand so you can monitor hands-free.

For anyone who’s put off blood pressure monitoring because it seemed too fiddly or time consuming, this is a good time to rethink that. BPM Vision keeps things straightforward without sacrificing depth or accuracy. It’s heart health made easy.

Available now

BPM Vision is available for purchase directly from the Withings website. It sells for $179.95 and includes everything you need to get started. An optional XL cuff is also offered for $19.95, designed to provide a better fit for larger arm sizes.

Circular has begun shipping its second-generation smart rings to early backers from its Kickstarter campaign. The goal is to have all units out the door before the end of July.

The Gen 2 model made its first appearance at CES 2025. It builds on the 2023 Circular Ring Slim by introducing ECG functionality and a redesigned look. Together, these upgrades push the device further into the health-tracking space.

The Kickstarter campaign attracted over 13,000 backers and raised around $4 million. Circular says everything is running on schedule. Shipping started in mid-July, with remaining orders expected to be fulfilled by the end of the month.

Here is an unboxing video that was shared on Youtube.

Expanding on its predecessor’s foundations

The previous model, the Circular Ring Slim, introduced some unique features like haptic navigation and lightweight construction but didn’t win universal acclaim. The new Circular Ring 2 addresses prior criticisms with enhanced sensors, a new app interface, and notable additions like FDA-cleared AFib detection.

On-demand ECG monitoring now takes center stage in this model. This feature provides heart health insights, aiming to go beyond basic metrics. By incorporating FDA-cleared algorithms for AFib detection, the device promises to deliver actionable data for users who prioritize cardiovascular health. It is something we have not seen in a ring, to date.

Some other novel features include blood pressure and glucose trend tracking. These are slated for release by the end of 2025, so at a later stage. If the company successfully pulls this off, it will be the first in the smart ring space with these two features.

Circular Ring 2

Design meets durability

As far as build, Circular Ring 2 has undergone a complete aesthetic and material redesign. Available in four finishes, Gold, Silver, Black, and Rose Gold, the ring features a titanium build.

The new digital ring-sizing feature is another notable innovation. This ensures buyers can find their fit before placing an order. It also eliminates the need to wait for a sizing kit to be sent over, thus saving time. Users can use their smartphone to find their perfect ring size.

Other upgrades

Beyond that, the Circular Ring 2 includes improved sensors for more accurate tracking of biometrics, from sleep stages to heart rate. It also boasts a longer battery life, providing up to eight days of use per charge, and introduces wireless charging.

Kira+, the AI wellness assistant, has also received a significant update. The accompanying app now offers a more intuitive interface, aligning with the ring’s upscale design ethos.

Plus the ring now has a dedicated Women’s Health Suite. It offers cycle tracking, temperature monitoring, and insights into fertility, menopause, and overall wellness.

Market availability and pricing

Circular hopes the upgrades and expanded feature set will resonate with users. It’s still too early to tell how the ring will be received, but the company appears focused on pushing its lineup forward. ECG and AFib detection give it a stronger health angle this time around.

If blood pressure and glucose tracking do get added, they could give the device a real edge. Much will depend on how well these features are implemented.

As CES 2025 wraps up in Las Vegas, it’s time to reflect on the health and fitness innovations that stood out during the event. The annual show continues to solidify its reputation as the world’s most influential tech gathering, offering a stage for groundbreaking advancements and trends.

CES is unmatched in scale and impact, setting the benchmark for global technology expos. While it shares the spotlight with IFA in Berlin, which takes place each September, CES remains the primary destination for unveiling transformative technologies. As expected, Apple maintained its absence, and there were no major announcements from Fitbit. Still, wearables dominated the show floor, particularly smart rings.

Here’s a closer look at some of the best wearables unveiled at CES 2025. For more in-depth coverage, check out our CES 2025.

Zepp Health

The Amazfit Active 2 is one of the devices that made a debut at the gathering. It’s got a 1.32-inch round AMOLED display with a super-sharp 466 x 466 resolution and crazy-bright 2,000 nits, so you’ll have no problem seeing it outside. The thing handles over 160 sports modes, including swimming, thanks to its 5ATM water resistance. On the health side, it packs Amazfit’s new BioTracker 6.0 PPG sensor for tracking heart rate, SpO₂, and stress.

The built-in GPS supports five satellite systems, making it reliable for tracking outdoor workouts. Battery life is strong too—up to 10 days in regular use. And the price? It’s hard to beat, starting at $99.99 for the standard model or $129.99 if you want the premium version. Definitely one to consider if you’re looking for a smartwatch that won’t empty your wallet. Keep an eye out for our hands-on review, to come later in January.

Garmin

Garmin also made some noise at CES 2025 with the Instinct 3 range. These are rugged smartwatches that now pack a flashlight, improved solar charging and, most importantly, the option of an AMOLED display. Like the last generation, Instinct 3 is perfect for outdoor types who need something durable but also easy to read in any light.

Garmin also dropped the HRM-200, a heart rate monitor that replaces the HRM-Dual. It’s got a handy LED light and a button to switch between encrypted and open modes, making it super flexible for different devices.

In other Garmin related news, Therabody launched Coach, an AI-driven recovery platform that integrates with Garmin smartwatches. This platform provides personalized recovery recommendations in real-time, utilizing data such as heart rate, stress levels, and sleep patterns to optimize user performance and well-being. An interesting addition.

Meanwhile, Samsung also caught attention with its MicroLED smartwatch prototype. The display is incredibly bright, hitting up to 4,000 nits, making it ideal for outdoor use. But the thing is—Garmin might actually beat Samsung to market with such a timepiece. Rumours are that Fenix 8 MicroLED might hit the market soon.

Withings

At CES 2025, Withings made its presence felt. The French outfit showed off two new health gadgets that could make keeping an eye on your wellness a lot easier.

First up is the BPM Vision, a blood pressure monitor with a big, easy-to-read screen that gives real-time feedback, reminders, and even some motivational nudges. It’s set up for up to eight users and comes with swappable cuffs to fit different arm sizes. Plus, it syncs smoothly with the Withings app over Wi-Fi, and its six-month battery life means you won’t be charging it all the time—pretty handy for families or anyone wanting to track their blood pressure regularly.

Then there’s the OMNIA, which looks like something straight out of a sci-fi movie. It’s a concept device for now, so it’s unclear if it’ll hit stores anytime soon. OMNIA combines a sleek smart mirror with advanced AI and a bunch of health sensors. It pulls in data from Withings’ other devices—like smartwatches, scales, and sleep trackers—to give you a full health check, covering everything from heart health and body composition to sleep and nutrition. It even has an AI assistant that talks to you and supports telemedicine chats, aiming to make health management more seamless and comprehensive.

Redmi

Moving quickly on and we get to the Redmi Watch 5, and it’s looking pretty solid. It’s got a massive 2.07-inch AMOLED display with super bright 1500 nits and a smooth 60Hz refresh rate. The watch handles over 150 sports modes, is water-resistant up to 5ATM, and keeps tabs on your heart rate and SpO₂. Its battery can last up to 24 days, and it even supports Bluetooth 5.3 for calls and music storage. At £89.99 in the UK, it’s hitting shelves on January 15th, so it won’t burn a hole in your pocket either. This is another device we are reviewing at the moment, so keep an eye out for that.

Redmi also unveiled two new earbuds: the Buds 6 and the Buds 6 Pro. The Buds 6 feature dual drivers for clear audio, active noise cancellation up to 49dB, and a total battery life of 42 hours with the case. A quick 10-minute charge adds four hours of playback, making them great for busy users. The Buds 6 Pro take things further with better noise cancellation and enhanced audio features for a more premium listening experience.

Smart rings galore

Just like last year, smart rings have made a strong showing at CES 2025.

The VIV Ring is one of these. It features an interesting Generative Sleep Aid Sound function that personalizes soundscapes to improve sleep quality while also tracking vital health metrics. A medical-grade version, VIV Pro, is set for release later this year, offering advanced capabilities like blood pressure monitoring and atrial fibrillation detection. That one should be even more interesting as we’ve not seen a smart ring yet that tracks blood pressure.

Similarly, the VELIA smart ring, formerly known as Iris Ring, targets an April 2025 launch and focuses on convenient, cuffless blood pressure tracking. After a long wait – it’s Kickstarter backers are anxious to finally get the device in their hands!

Luxury options have also entered the market, such as Ultrahuman’s Rare collection of 18-karat gold and platinum smart rings. While these rings include exclusive perks like lifetime memberships and extended warranties, their features are identical to the standard Ultrahuman Ring Air, raising questions about their price-to-value ratio.

Meanwhile, Movano Health has expanded the functionality of its Evie Ring with EvieAI, a virtual wellness assistant. It offers tailored health insights based on an extensive database of medical journals, with plans to integrate personal health data for even deeper insights.

On the technical front, the Circular Ring 2 aims to address past shortcomings with improved sensors, a revamped app, and FDA-cleared atrial fibrillation detection. Built with a titanium body and available in four finishes, it combines sleek design with enhanced functionality. Its expected release by early 2025, priced at $380, positions it as interesting addition.

Best of the rest

CES 2025 brought out some other interesting wearable tech, each offering something a little different. For example, Suunto’s Aqua AI headphones stood out for swimmers and triathletes. They use bone conduction, so you can hear real-time coaching while still being aware of your surroundings. The headphones are lightweight and link up with the Suunto app to analyze strokes and give feedback, which could be handy if you’re trying to improve in the pool.

Health tech also took a step forward with Novosound’s Slanj sensor. It uses ultrasound to give constant blood pressure readings, which is a big shift from the usual cuff method. Right now, it’s a separate device, but there’s talk of it eventually being integrated into smartwatches, which could make it even more useful.

Mudra Link is another device that grabbed our attention. It’s a wristband that lets you control things with small finger movements—no screens or buttons needed. It feels like something out of sci-fi but could actually be super practical.

Then there’s the Core 2 body temperature sensor, which is small, lightweight, and clips on easily. It’s aimed at athletes who want real-time heat data during training, but it seems simple enough for anyone to use. These devices feel less about flash and more about solving specific problems, which is refreshing.

Xiaomi has kicked off 2025 in style with its CES debut of its latest timepiece – the Redmi Watch 5, along with the Buds 6 series. The smartwatch, already a success in China, is now set to captivate a global audience with its largest-ever AMOLED display. Complementing this is the Buds 6 series, which promises immersive audio experiences and adaptive noise cancellation.

The Redmi Watch 5: Bold design meets practicality

Let’s begin with the Redmi Watch 5, which has been available in China since November. Now, the device is expanding beyond its local market.

Xiaomi’s latest wearable features their largest display to date, a 2.07-inch AMOLED screen that surpasses its predecessor’s 1.97 inches. Offering 1500 nits of brightness, a crisp 324 PPI resolution, and a smooth 60Hz refresh rate, the display promises vibrant and clear visuals. Its ultra-thin 2mm bezels enhance the sleek design, achieving an impressive 82% screen-to-body ratio. Completing the premium look is an aluminum alloy frame paired with a functional and refined crown.

Under the hood, the watch comes with a built-in 5-system GNSS, which is handy for tracking outdoor activities across its 150+ sports modes—including swimming, thanks to its 5ATM water resistance. Health features get a boost with enhanced heart rate monitoring, improved sleep tracking, and SpO₂ measurements. These are powered by a self-designed algorithm that claims to increase accuracy by up to 10%, with heart rate monitoring specifically seeing a 5.2% improvement over the previous model. There’s also an upgraded linear motor that provides precise yet quiet haptic feedback.

This smartwatch doesn’t compromise on battery life, either. It offers an outstanding 24-day battery life on typical usage, thanks to a lightweight operating system.

On the connectivity side, the Watch 5 supports Bluetooth 5.3, allowing you to make calls directly from your wrist using its dual-microphone noise reduction. Add let’s not forget the ability to pair earbuds and store music, which makes the device a reliable companion for workouts or travels.

The smartwatch will be available for purchase starting January 15th. In the UK, it is priced at £89.99, which is approximately $110. We are currently testing out the device, so keep an eye out for our detailed hands-on review later in January.

Redmi Buds 6: A balance of style and sound

There is something, as well, for those who prioritize audio. The Redmi Buds 6 have arrived, offering a blend of convenience and sound quality.

These lightweight earbuds come in three colors—Cloud White, Coral Green, and Night Black—and offer up to 10 hours of playback on a single charge, with the case extending that to an impressive 42 hours. A quick 10-minute charge provides four hours of listening, perfect for busy schedules.

Equipped with dual drivers, including a 12.4mm titanium-diaphragm dynamic driver and a 5.5mm PZT tweeter, the Buds 6 produce rich, detailed audio. Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) with 49dB depth eliminates distractions, while adaptive transparency modes ensure awareness when needed. Wind noise resistance and dual-microphone AI noise reduction are there to allow you to make calls in challenging conditions.

Redmi Buds 6 Pro: Audio tailored for immersion

Rounding off the Redmi wearable tech news today is a snazzier pair of headphones. The Pro version of Redmi Buds 6 introduces a coaxial triple-driver system, including dual tweeters and an 11mm titanium-diaphragm driver for enhanced bass and treble. Hi-Res Audio certification ensures precise audio reproduction, and dimensional audio with head tracking makes these earbuds a strong choice for gaming or watching videos.

The Pro version also offers up to 55dB of noise cancellation and a multi-level ANC mode that adapts to the environment. Battery performance is slightly lower than the standard model, with 9.5 hours on a single charge and 36 hours with the case. However, its richer sound profile and additional features make it a notable upgrade over the vanilla version.

Suunto’s just dropped its Aqua AI headphones at CES 2025. These bone conduction headphones pack great sound and some smart AI features to help you boost your performance.

The Aqua AI headphones are designed for anyone who’s serious about their training. While they’re targeted at swimmers and triathletes, they’ll work just as well for anyone into running, cycling, or swimming. Since they use bone conduction tech, the sound comes through vibrations on your skull, so your ears stay open to the sounds around you. That’s great for safety when you’re running or cycling outdoors, as you can still hear traffic or other potential hazards.

Swimmers will love this

What really sets these headphones apart is their focus on swimmers. The AI features can analyze your swim stroke, looking at things like your stroke posture, head pitch, breath frequency, and glide time. It’ll even send you suggestions for improving your form through the Suunto app. If you’re trying to get faster in the pool or fine-tune your technique, this could be a great addition to your gear.

One thing people are saying about the Aqua AI headphones is that the sound quality is surprisingly good, especially for a bone conduction model. At just 35 grams, they’re light and comfortable to wear, staying securely in place even during tough workouts. You’ve got 32 GB of onboard storage, which is enough to hold about 8,000 songs, so you don’t need your phone on you for music. And controlling your playlist is as easy as moving your head—no need to mess around with buttons.

Durability is key when it comes to any sport, especially swimming. The Aqua AI headphones come with an IP68 waterproof rating, meaning they can handle being submerged up to 5 meters for 2 hours. As for battery life, you get 10 hours of playtime on a full charge. And with the included charging pod, you can stretch that out to another 20 hours. In a rush? A quick 10-minute charge gives you 3 hours of playtime.

A strong contender

The Suunto Aqua AI headphones come in at $179 or £175, which puts them in the same price range as the Shokz OpenSwim Pro—one of their biggest competitors. With their mix of AI features, solid sound, and durability, they’re definitely a strong contender in the market. If you’re someone who swims or trains outdoors and wants a bit of tech to help you out, these headphones could be just what you’re looking for.

It’ll be interesting to see how they stack up against the competition, but early reviews suggest Suunto has something worth considering. If you’re in the market for a new pair of headphones that can handle your training and your tunes, the Aqua AI headphones could be a good option to try.

At CES 2025, South Korean VIV Health is attempting to introduce something unique: the VIV Ring. It’s the world’s first smart ring that comes with Generative Sleep Aid Sound, a feature designed to help you sleep better by creating personalized soundscapes.

So what’s it all about? Let’s dive in.

The sleep boost you didn’t know you needed

VIV Health’s VIV Ring does what typical smart rings do. So all the basics like tracking heart rate and oxygen levels, along with measuring things like stress levels and heart rate variability. Plus, there’s AI to give you predictions and insights into your health. So far, nothing trailblazing.

But things do get a bit more interesting. On top of the usual offerings, the VIV Ring features something called Generative Sleep Aid Sound. This takes a very different approach to helping you sleep.

The system uses natural sounds—think ocean waves, forest rain, and birdsong. These aren’t just for background noise. They’re combined with AI to analyze your sleep data and create soundscapes specifically designed to improve your sleep quality.

The idea is that as your ring tracks your biometric data, it will generate sounds that match your personal sleep patterns. So, instead of using generic sounds, it’s all about what works best for you. The press release doesn’t actually make it very clear, but it’s a safe guess that the audio is emitted by the smartphone app.

As for the ring itself, it’s got a sleek design. The concave centre helps prevent scratches, and the diamond-cut edges give it a nice, polished look.

Launching at CES 2025 and what’s next

VIV Health is launching the VIV Ring at the Las Vegas tech gathering, which is a big deal for the company. They’ve already started mass production, and the ring will be available for sale in February 2025. For now, the Generative Sleep Aid Sound feature is available in a basic form, but the company plans to release a more customized version later in the year.

But VIV Health isn’t just stopping at wellness. The company is working with Gangnam Severance Hospital to test the VIV Ring for use as a medical device. Later in 2025, they plan to launch the VIV Pro, a medical-grade version of the ring that can measure blood pressure and detect atrial fibrillation. Not that will be really interesting as we are yet to see a ring with those features.

Essential reading: Top fitness trackers and health gadgets

For now, though, the VIV Ring looks like a interesting option for anyone looking to take a more personalized approach to their health and sleep. The price of the smart ring is yet to be confirmed, but you can join a member’s waitlist on the company’s website. This will bag you 10% off the eventual retail price.

Blood pressure tracking might be the next big thing for smartwatches, and Novosound’s new Slanj wearable sensor could be the thing that paves the way. Demoed at CES 2025, this wrist-worn device uses continuous ultrasound imaging to monitor blood pressure in real time. It’s not a smartwatch just yet, but the potential to integrate this tech into existing wearable platforms is huge.

What smartwatches can (and can’t) do right now

Smartwatches have made big strides in health tracking, but blood pressure monitoring has remained a challenge. Most devices that attempt to track it rely on Photoplethysmogram (PPG) sensors, which use light to estimate blood flow. While great for heart rate and oxygen levels, these methods aren’t accurate enough for reliable blood pressure readings.

A few brands have tried incorporating cuff-like technology, but it’s bulky and far from seamless. Samsung’s Galaxy Watch does offer blood pressure tracking in certain regions, but it requires calibration with a traditional cuff and periodic rechecks to stay accurate. You can also enable blood pressure tracking on certain Amazfit watches. And then there’s AKTIIA, a dedicated wearable for tracking blood pressure – but this also works via PPG sensors.

How the Slanj sensor fits in

Novosound’s Slanj sensor takes an entirely different approach. By using continuous ultrasound imaging, it provides precise readings of the radial artery, capturing real-time changes in blood pressure. Unlike optical sensors, which can struggle with reliability, or cuff-based devices that only offer periodic snapshots, Slanj delivers consistent, detailed data throughout the day. This level of accuracy could help users spot trends and anomalies much earlier.

Although Slanj is currently a (rather chunky looking) standalone device, Novosound envisions its tech being built into smartwatches. Which means wearables with hospital-grade blood pressure monitoring built-in.

A glimpse of the future

With heart health already a top priority, adding accurate blood pressure tracking could take wearables to the next level. Instead of bulky, one-off devices for specific health needs, users could get continuous cardiovascular monitoring from something they already wear every day.

Essential reading: Top fitness trackers and health gadgets

Novosound’s Slanj sensor is exciting not just for what it does now but for what it could mean down the line. With its flexible ultrasound technology, smartwatches could finally move beyond basic metrics and deliver hospital-level health insights. The comfort and convenience of continuous monitoring might make managing conditions like hypertension easier and more effective.

For now, the Slanj is a promising step forward. But if this tech finds its way into your next smartwatch, it could reshape how we think about wearables—and what they can do for our health.

Samsung is turning heads at CES 2025 by showing off a MicroLED display for wearables. This new display can hit a whopping 4,000 nits of brightness, easily outshining devices like the Apple Watch Ultra 2 at 3,000 nits and the Pixel Watch 3 at 2,000 nits. If you’ve ever squinted at your watch screen on a sunny day, you’ll appreciate why this is a big deal.

But this isn’t just about brighter screens. Micro LED technology is known for being more energy-efficient and durable compared to the usual AMOLED or OLED displays. That means a watch with this kind of screen could last longer on a charge and avoid issues like burn-in, which can plague current displays over time.

Bringing TV tech to your wrist

Micro LED displays have been around for a while, but they’ve mostly been reserved for high-end TVs. Shrinking this tech down to smartwatch size isn’t a simple feat. And it’s not just about making it smaller—it also has to work efficiently and hold up to everyday wear and tear. Samsung’s been at it since 2023, aiming to bring Micro LED to wearables, but getting these displays into actual products is proving tricky.

The prototype watch at CES features a 2.1-inch display with a resolution of 418 x 540 pixels and a pixel density of 326ppi. More notably, it’s 33% brighter than the OLED screen on the Galaxy Watch Ultra, making it ideal for outdoor use. The device itself was created by Samsung Display, the division focused on screen technology. However, it will ultimately be up to Samsung Electronics, the team behind Galaxy products, to decide when and how this innovation will be integrated into smartwatches. At this point, no specific timeline has been announced.

What about the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2?

Naturally, the buzz around this Micro LED prototype has people wondering if it’ll show up in the next Galaxy Watch Ultra. The current Ultra already has a solid AMOLED screen with 3,000 nits of brightness. Swapping that out for a Micro LED display with 4,000 nits could take things up a notch.

That said, this kind of upgrade doesn’t come cheap. Micro LED displays are still expensive to produce, and Samsung may not be ready to roll them out just yet. While it’s nice to imagine the Ultra 2 with this kind of tech, it’s probably safer to assume we’ll be waiting a bit longer.

A promising but tricky path forward

Samsung isn’t the only player in the Micro LED space. AUO has already started producing wearable Micro LED displays, and companies like Tag Heuer are reportedly working on smartwatches using this technology. Meanwhile, Apple shelved a major Micro LED project last year, though rumors suggest they might still be tinkering with it.

It’s clear that many companies see the potential here. But making it affordable and reliable for everyday use is the sticking point.

Samsung’s prototype is exciting, but it’s still very much a work in progress. For now, it’s more of a “watch this space” situation.

Another name in the game is Garmin. And they might actually beat everyone else to the punch. Rumors point to a Fenix 8 MicroLED in the near future. If Garmin gets there first, they’ll set a high bar for other brands to follow.

Ultrahuman just launched its Rare collection, a line of fancy smart rings starting at over $1,900. Unveiled at CES 2025, these rings try to blend high-end jewelry with health-tracking tech. But with a price like that, you’ve got to wonder—are they really worth it? Especially since wearable tech usually feels old after a year or two.

We have reviewed the Ultrahuman Ring Air a while ago, and that one seems well worth its $300 or so price-tag. It is one of the more notable competitors to Oura Ring, along the likes of RingConn, Amazfit Helio and the Samsung Galaxy ring.

Now we are getting something new from Ultrahuman.

A design for the desert and beyond

You could say the Rare collection takes inspiration from desert landscapes, with models called Desert Rose, Dune, and Desert Snow. Each one is crafted entirely from premium materials like 18k gold, 19k rose gold, or PT950 platinum. Ultrahuman isn’t skimping on quality here. The gold is certified by the London Bullion Market Association, and the platinum meets the strict PT950 standard, which means it’s 95% pure.

The rings certainly look luxurious. Desert Rose shows off the warm glow of rose gold, Dune sticks to classic 18k gold, and Desert Snow’s platinum finish gives it a sleek, modern feel. But while these designs make a statement, they’re still smart rings underneath it all.

Which means they come, essentially, with the same features you’d expect from Ultrahuman’s standard models. They track your heart rate, sleep, stress levels, and skin temperature, all of which sync with the Ultrahuman app. So nothing new on that front.

And as with their other offerings, the app is completely free to use—there are no subscription fees. That’s a nice alternative compared to other brands like Oura, where ongoing costs can add up. But even with this, you have to ask: will the sensors and tech inside these rings still feel cutting-edge in a year or two? Wearable tech evolves so quickly that even high-end gadgets like this can feel outdated fast.

Is it worth the price?

With prices ranging from about $1,900 to $2,300, these rings are far more expensive than Ultrahuman’s other models—or most of the competition, for that matter. They’ll be sold at exclusive stores like Selfridges in London and Printemps in Paris, with plans to expand to New York and Milan later.

Ultrahuman clearly wants these rings to appeal to a niche market: people who care about both high-end materials and wearable tech. But that market might also wonder if they’re getting a good deal. A luxury smart ring sounds great, but the tech inside isn’t much different from what’s already out there.

Ultrahuman’s Rare collection makes a bold play for the luxury crowd. The materials are top-notch, and the no-subscription model is a smart move. But at those prices, you’re paying a lot for a gadget that might not keep pace with the next wave of innovation.

Unveiled at CES 2025, Movano Health’s EvieAI is the latest feature for the Evie Ring, a virtual wellness assistant built on real medical research. It’s here to deliver quick, accurate health answers, with plans to use your personal data from the ring to make insights even more customised.

Evie Ring introduces a virtual wellness assistant

The Evie Ring just got a major enhancement with the introduction of EvieAI, a health-focused virtual assistant built specifically for accuracy and reliability. Unlike broader AI systems, EvieAI doesn’t pull information from the open internet. Instead, it relies on a curated database of over 100,000 medical journals and is designed to provide answers that are backed by trusted medical sources. This makes it far more dependable for health queries than general-purpose tools like ChatGPT.

EvieAI uses a specialized approach as a bounded large language model (LLM), focusing exclusively on carefully curated medical data. Its database includes contributions from trusted institutions like Harvard and the Mayo Clinic, ensuring a solid foundation for reliable answers. Before generating a response, EvieAI cross-checks its knowledge against these sources to eliminate inconsistencies. This method delivers a high standard of accuracy, with the company reporting an impressive 99 percent success rate in providing precise health insights.

For users navigating personal wellness concerns, this added layer of medical precision could be particularly valuable. Whether you’re wondering about a symptom, a condition, or just trying to get a clearer picture of your health, EvieAI has you covered.

What’s even better is that EvieAI is set to use your personal health data in the future. The ring already tracks metrics like your heart rate, skin temperature, and menstrual cycle. Soon, EvieAI will combine those insights with its medical knowledge to give advice that’s tailored just for you. And if privacy is a concern, no worries—Movano built in encryption to keep your info secure and private.

For existing Evie Ring users, EvieAI is rolling out as a free beta feature starting January 8th. It’s a nice step in Movano’s goal to make health tracking smarter, easier, and more useful in daily life.

What makes the Evie Ring special

The Evie Ring first debuted at last year’s CES. This is Movano Health’s flagship wearable which stands out for its thoughtful design and feature set. It tracks a wide array of health metrics, including activity, sleep, heart rate, blood oxygen levels, and mood.

Essential reading: Top fitness trackers and health gadgets

Another distinctive feature is its form factor. The ring includes a slight gap in its surface, accommodating natural finger size fluctuations, making it more comfortable for daily wear. It boasts a four-day battery life and supports rapid charging with a convenient charging case. Importantly, unlike many competitors, the Evie Ring has no subscription fees, keeping long-term costs manageable for users.
