Suunto appears to have another new device moving through regulatory channels, and this one is not a watch. We found a Singapore database entry for model SHRM2, named as a Bluetooth heart rate monitor, appearing alongside OW245, the outdoor watch model we first connected to Suunto Core 2 through the FCC database before it was reported elsewhere.

We have now spotted another regulatory clue that appears to have gone unnoticed. The earlier OW245 model has surfaced again, this time in Singapore, which lines up with the FCC trail and adds weight to the Core 2 story. But the second line in the Singapore search result is arguably just as interesting, because SHRM2 appears under the Suunto brand as a Bluetooth heart rate monitor.

What the listing shows

The Singapore listing keeps things fairly simple. It names Suunto as the brand, gives the model number as SHRM2 and describes the equipment as a heart rate monitor with Bluetooth connectivity.

That description does not leave much room for guesswork around the product category. This is not framed as a smartwatch, outdoor watch or fitness band. It appears to be a dedicated heart rate monitor, which points toward Suunto’s accessory range rather than its watch lineup.

The supplier is shown as Global Approvals Pte. Ltd., which also appears on the OW245 entry. That puts both devices in the same regulatory context, even though they clearly sit in different categories.

SHRM2 looks like a second generation HRM

The model name is the giveaway here. SHRM2 reads very naturally as Suunto Heart Rate Monitor 2, or something very close to that internally.

Suunto already sells the Smart Heart Rate Belt under the STHR10 name. That device is a compact chest strap module built for Bluetooth use, with support for swimming and internal memory when the watch is not nearby. So SHRM2 could easily fit as a newer version of that concept.

Suunto HR belt

There is another small clue outside the Singapore database. A Nordic developer thread includes a project path referencing shrm2, shrm_2 and suunto, with the platform shown as nRF54L15. That does not confirm the final retail name, but it does suggest Suunto has been working on hardware or firmware under the SHRM2 label.

Why Suunto might refresh the strap now

A new Suunto heart rate monitor would not be a random move. Chest straps still have a very clear role for serious training, especially for interval sessions, cold weather, cycling and activities where wrist based optical sensors can struggle.

Suunto’s watches have improved a lot in recent years, but many users still pair them with external sensors for cleaner heart rate data. A refreshed HRM would give Suunto a better companion accessory for its devices.

The current Suunto Smart Heart Rate Belt is also not a new product anymore. It still has useful features, including memory for workouts when the watch is out of range, but the hardware category has moved on. Competitors now push longer range, better multi device pairing, rechargeable designs and stronger app handling, so Suunto has room to update the formula.

This article originally appeared on Gadgets & Wearables, the first media outlet to connect OW245 to Suunto Core 2 and report the SHRM2 Singapore database finding.

Information we have seen points to a more premium version of the Amazfit Cheetah 2 on the way, with signs of a larger display, more storage and a much bigger battery than the Cheetah 2 Pro. Zepp Health has not announced anything yet, so this is best treated as an early look at where the Cheetah 2 line may be heading next.

A bigger Cheetah 2 model appears likely

The Cheetah line has always leaned into running, but the newer information suggests Zepp Health may be preparing something with a broader trail and outdoor angle. The details point to a circular watch with a 1.5 inch AMOLED display, 480 x 480 resolution and sapphire glass, which would put it above the 1.32 inch display found on the Cheetah 2 Pro.

That larger screen would make sense for maps, navigation and longer outdoor sessions. The information also points to improved offline maps with faster loading and rendering, which would fit the larger display well.

The design also appears to stick with the four button layout used on the Cheetah 2 Pro. That suggests Zepp Health may not be changing the basic control setup, but instead scaling the concept into a more premium outdoor form. The case styling looks tougher as well, with more prominent bezel detailing and a less minimal feel.

The build details need a bit of caution. The information points to titanium being used in the case construction, while there’s also mention of plastic. So this should not be read as a full titanium case unless Zepp Health confirms it.

The battery could be the real clue

Another interesting part is the battery figure. The information we have seen points to a 780mAh battery, which is a sizeable jump from the 540mAh unit in the Cheetah 2 Pro. That would also line up with a claimed battery life of up to 30 days in normal use and up to 70 hours with GPS.

Amazfit Cheetah 2 Pro

Those figures would move this model into a different conversation. The Cheetah 2 Pro is already well equipped for serious runners, but a larger battery would make the next variant more appealing for trail runs, long hikes and multi day use away from a charger.

Storage may also be getting a bump. The details point to 64GB, compared with 32GB on the Cheetah 2 Pro. That could help with offline maps, music and future software features.

The flashlight also appears to carry over from the Cheetah 2 Pro, which already includes a dual-mode LED with white and red light, Boost and SOS modes. It keeps the practical outdoor angle intact, especially for early runs, late walks and outdoor use where a built-in light can be genuinely handy.

More than just a Cheetah 2 Pro with a bigger case

The Cheetah 2 Pro can remain the performance model, while this possible new version would likely sit above it for people who want more battery life and a more substantial build. It would be a logical move, especially as the line now overlaps more with hiking and navigation than the original Cheetah watches did.

Zepp Health has been moving quickly with its recent watch launches. Cheetah 2 Pro arrived with a stronger build and more serious navigation features than the older Cheetah line, and there should be more to come soon. We are also expecting a new addition to the Bip line, along with an Amazfit HYROX watch, so the next few weeks could be busy for the company.

The mystery Amazfit watch from the HYROX Warsaw clip now looks a bit less mysterious. After looking through the image in the regulatory filing, we have concluded that model A2553 is the same device, complete with what looks to be a 45mm display, angular outer shell and a sizeable 780mAh battery.

A couple of weeks ago, we wrote about a HYROX Warsaw promo video from Amazfit Poland that appeared to show an unannounced Balance-style watch. At the time, the design looked close to the Balance 2, but the case architecture was different enough to raise questions.

A few days ago Zepp Health posted this teaser on their social media channels.

The new regulatory material now adds more detail to that earlier sighting and the teaser. We are, however, missing the final retail name.

The HYROX watch now looks like A2553

The watch shown in the HYROX Warsaw clip had a familiar round display and general Balance-like proportions, but the surrounding case did not look like the standard Balance 2. It had a more angular frame, more pronounced lugs, screw-like details around the top and bottom and a more rugged case-to-strap transition.

That is where today’s FCC filing gets interesting. The drawing for Amazfit model A2553 shows a large round watch sitting inside an angular outer structure, with the same kind of reinforced shape seen in the HYROX image. Looking through both side by side, to us this looks like the same device.

Clearly the same device | On the right, mockup created from leaked image – source: Gadgets & Wearables

The HYROX image also shows a rotating crown at the upper right. The filing drawing is more technical and does not read like a consumer render, so it does not clearly explain the controls. But the overall case geometry lines up well enough to connect the two.

The filing gives us proper hardware clues

The documents identify the device as a production unit. So this does not look like an early concept floating around inside a marketing department. The confidentiality clause on the full FCC filing runs out in six months, so we should see the watch before then.

A2553 has a 780mAh cell, which sits above the 700mAh battery in the T-Rex 3 but below the 870mAh one in the T-Rex Ultra 2. So this is not small-watch territory. It looks more like a bigger premium fitness watch, which fits the chunky HYROX design we saw earlier. Hence the emphasis on “BIG” in the teaser image.

Connectivity includes Bluetooth and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. The antenna documentation also covers receiver ranges around 1170MHz to 1180MHz and 1570MHz to 1580MHz, which points towards dual-band GNSS support. The filing does not spell out the final positioning feature set, so that should be treated as a strong hardware clue rather than a finished product claim.

The size points to something above a standard Balance

The drawing gives us a few useful size clues. The watch appears to have a 45mm display, while the widest measured span across the outer case structure is 51.73mm. That makes sense when you look back at the HYROX pic, where the device looked broader and more built-up than the regular Balance 2.

It’s worth noting that these are mechanical or antenna-related references rather than retail case dimensions. The safer takeaway is that this is a large round watch with a wider angular shell around it.

This also explains why the earlier HYROX watch looked slightly odd at first glance. It was not just a Balance 2 with a different watch face. The case itself appears to be different, with a more protective outer frame and a more engineered strap connection.

The retail name is still the missing piece

The filing does not give us the final marketing name, so that part remains open. But the HYROX tie-in may be the clue.

Zepp Health has been leaning into HYROX as a fitness partnership and a more rugged Balance-style edition would fit that direction. The watch could end up as a special edition, a Pro-style variant or a fitness-focused version of Balance 2 with different casing and hardware tweaks. Or perhaps even a part of the T-Rex range.

The earlier HYROX Warsaw pic now looks less like a one-off promo image and more like an early public glimpse of real hardware. With the company teaser and now FCC material adding battery, connectivity, GNSS and size clues, we have a clearer picture of what Zepp Health has been preparing.

Suunto Core 2 just popped up in an FCC filing, and it looks like the old Core is making a comeback. The label shows a CR3032 replaceable battery, 100m water resistance, stainless steel and Bluetooth LE, which points to a proper outdoor tool watch with a bit of modern app support thrown in.

Suunto Core 2 shows up in certification documents

Suunto Core 2 now looks very real. We spotted an FCC filing for model OW245 which includes a product label that clearly carries the name “Suunto Core 2″. This is about as direct as these things get before an official announcement.

The filing describes the product as an outdoor watch under the Suunto brand. That lines up with what the Core name has always represented. This is not a general smartwatch line, or at least it has not been historically. Core has always been about outdoor basics, with altimeter, barometer, compass and weather tools at the centre of the experience.

The original Suunto Core dates back to 2007. It became one of the company’s best known non-GPS outdoor watches. It never chased modern smartwatch features, which was part of the appeal. You bought it because it did the outdoor watch thing without pretending to be a phone on your wrist.

That is why this filing is interesting. Suunto could have retired the name completely and left the rugged outdoor segment to watches such as Vertical and Race. Instead, the company appears to be preparing a proper follow-up to one of its most recognisable models.

The label tells us quite a bit

The FCC label gives away more than just the name. It shows water resistance of 100m, a CR3032 battery, stainless steel and the model number OW245. It also includes FCC, IC, CE, UKCA, EAC and KC markings, which points to a broader international launch rather than a tiny regional experiment.

The battery detail is probably the most important one. A CR3032 is a replaceable coin-cell battery, not a rechargeable lithium pack. That strongly suggests Core 2 is not trying to become a smaller Suunto Vertical or a full GPS sports watch.

Suunto Core

That matters because it tells us something about the product philosophy. Suunto seems to be keeping the Core idea intact. Long battery life, low maintenance and outdoor functions appear to matter more here than apps, AMOLED screens and daily charging routines.

The 100m water resistance is another useful clue. Older Core models were not always seen as serious water watches, despite their outdoor credentials. A 100m rating would make Core 2 more capable around swimming, wet weather and rougher outdoor use.

The stainless steel marking also helps. It most likely refers to the caseback, based on the label design, although the filing does not confirm the full case material. Even so, it points to a more robust build than a simple plastic-only outdoor watch.

Bluetooth changes the formula

The RF report confirms Bluetooth LE in the 2402MHz to 2480MHz range. That is an important difference from the classic Core experience, which was essentially standalone and self-contained.

Bluetooth does not automatically mean a smartwatch. It probably means Suunto app pairing, settings sync, firmware updates and possibly some basic phone-linked features. It may also allow the watch to sync logs or outdoor data without turning into a full training watch.

A good comparison might be a modern Casio Pro Trek style product rather than a Garmin Fenix alternative. The value would sit in the mix of outdoor tools, replaceable battery and rugged design. Bluetooth would bring it into the current Suunto ecosystem without changing what the watch is for.

September could be the key date

According to the filing, the confidentiality period runs until September 2026. Once that period expires, more detail can become public unless Suunto extends confidentiality or launches the product before then.

Suunto has strong modern sports watches, but not everyone wants maps, training load, heart rate sensors, AMOLED screens or charging cables. Some people just want a tough outdoor watch that can sit in a drawer, go on a trip and still be ready.

Oura may have accidentally given away more than it intended. A sizing video on its own checkout page briefly referred to “Oura Ring 5,” and that strengthens our view that the FCC filing we uncovered earlier this month is tied to Oura Ring 5 and a 2026 launch timeline.

The slip was spotted by a Reddit user during Oura’s sizing flow, where the official sizing video instructed buyers to place “Oura Ring 5” on their index finger. Not Ring 4, Ring 5. Oura later changed it back to the current Oura Ring 4 version.

Why this supports our FCC filing view

This is not some random supplier rumour or a vague certification clue. It is Oura’s own customer-facing sizing video, built for people getting ready to buy a ring. That is usually the sort of thing prepared much closer to launch.

When we covered the FCC filing, the main question was the name. The paperwork showed new Oura ring hardware in late-stage certification, with model OA13 for the ring and OA14 for the charger, but it did not actually mention “Oura Ring 5.” That left a small possibility it could be a redesigned version of the current Gen 4 device. That now looks much less likely.

Of course, the latest leak still does not make it certain that Gen 5 is about to launch. But it does make the late 2027 timeline some media outlets were pushing much harder to square with the evidence. The 180-day confidentiality request in the FCC paperwork, points to early September 2026 as the outer deadline for hidden materials such as internal photos and the user manual.

What to expect from Ring 5

Earlier images of the Gen 5 device shared by Android Headlines showed a ring that stays close to the current Oura look, but with a slightly more rounded outer profile.

The images also showed a new Deep Rose finish, which appears to replace the current Rose Gold option. Other finishes shown in the leak included Gold, Silver and Matte Black.

The inside of the ring also looked different in those images. That suggests Oura has changed the internal layout, although the leak did not confirm what sensors or features may be different.

The FCC filing adds one more concrete detail. It included an OA14 charger with a refreshed square dock, so the charging hardware also appears to be changing alongside the ring.

The timing is what makes this interesting. One stray Ring 5 mention in a sizing video could be brushed off, but it lands right after the FCC paperwork we found. That makes the next few months worth watching, because Oura now has more than one breadcrumb pointing in the same direction.

Earlier this week, we got the clearest look yet at Google’s upcoming screenless Fitbit band, with fresh images showing the rectangular tracker body sitting flush beneath the fabric strap. Now a new report suggests the device may launch under the name Fitbit Air, alongside a wider software shift that could see Fitbit Premium replaced by something called Google Health.

Image source: Instagram (upscaled by Gadgets & Wearables)

That adds a much clearer picture of what Google is building here. This is not shaping up to be another traditional fitness tracker with a display, but something much closer to a Whoop-style recovery band focused on all-day health monitoring and app-based insights.

Fitbit Air could be the final name

According to the latest report, the wearable will be marketed as Fitbit Air, with the fuller branding said to be Google Fitbit Air. The “Air” name is reportedly tied to the thinner and lighter design, with the idea being that it should feel comfortable enough to wear continuously without the bulk of a smartwatch.

That lines up with what we have already seen. The device looks compact, screenless and built around passive tracking rather than wrist-based interaction. Instead of checking stats directly on the wearable, the experience seems designed around collecting data in the background and reviewing it later in the app.

Stephen Curry has reportedly been wearing the device publicly since at least January, which makes this look far beyond an early prototype. Between press appearances and behind-the-scenes content, it seems clear Google has been testing this in plain sight for months.

A bigger shift may be happening in software

The more interesting part of this story may actually be the software strategy around it. It seems the subscription service that currently unlocks deeper insights and AI-powered features, is expected to be rebranded as Google Health. Fitbit’s AI-powered personal health coach, which is currently in public preview, would reportedly become Google Health Coach.

Fitbit hardware would still keep the Fitbit name, but the services around it would move more directly under the Google brand. It suggests Google wants health and wellness features to feel like part of its wider ecosystem rather than a separate Fitbit experience.

It also helps explain why earlier teaser content linked to the band ended with the colourful Google “G” logo rather than Fitbit branding. At the time that stood out, and now it makes much more sense.

The Fitbit app already hinted at it

There were already signs of this approach in the Fitbit app itself. Screens shown on a Pixel phone included a “Live data” page displaying Cardio Load, heart rate, calories burned and elapsed time. That screen does not currently exist in the public Fitbit app, which strongly suggests dedicated support for this new wearable is already being prepared behind the scenes.

This fits the wider idea of the product. Instead of acting like a smartwatch replacement, Fitbit Air looks like it is being positioned as a dedicated recovery and health tracker. It sits somewhere between a fitness band and a subscription-based coaching platform. So you will probably be able to use it alongside the Pixel Watch.

That is also why comparisons with Whoop keep coming up. The focus is less on notifications, apps and on-device features, and more on readiness, recovery and long-term health trends.

For now, Google still has not officially announced the device. But with clearer hardware images, months of public testing on Steph Curry’s wrist and now a likely product name and subscription strategy, Fitbit Air looks like it could land in the next few weeks.

A FCC filing from yesterday has revealed an unreleased Amazfit smartwatch carrying model number A2568, and the early details are already raising a few interesting questions. While the paperwork does not confirm the retail name, it does point to a square watch design and a sizeable 550mAh battery, which immediately makes this one worth watching.

The size and battery are the big clues

The filing itself clearly identifies the device as an Amazfit smartwatch and, importantly, a production unit. That usually suggests the hardware is fairly close to launch rather than an early engineering sample.

One thing that stands out straight away is the battery. At 550mAh, it is significantly larger than what we have seen on existing square Amazfit watches. That sort of capacity points to longer endurance, particularly if this is a device built with GPS-heavy sports tracking in mind.

A2568
(FCC filing)

Amazfit Active 2 Square

Amazfit Cheetah Square

Amazfit Bip 6

Battery

550 mAh

260 mAh

240 mAh

340 mAh

The FCC paperwork also includes an internal antenna layout for what appears to be a square watch design. The drawing shows an internal footprint of roughly 49.5 x 42.6 mm. This should not be treated as confirmed case dimensions, but it does suggest the device may have a relatively large chassis, especially when paired with that battery size.

Source: FCC

That combination hints at a watch aimed more at serious sports use than everyday casual wear.

Source: FCC

Which watch could this be

The FCC paperwork does not give away the commercial name. Which means, for now we are left piecing things together from the hardware clues.

One possibility is that this is the next Bip model, namely Bip 7. That said, the unusually large 550mAh battery still makes that feel like a slightly less natural fit, even if the Bip line already includes Zepp Health’s largest square watch. The range has generally been positioned as a more affordable mainstream option, so this filing may point to something aimed a bit higher.

Another possibility is an upcoming square Active model. We recently saw the launch of Active 3 Premium. That would fit if Zepp Health wants to introduce a more premium rectangular lifestyle watch with stronger battery life.

The most interesting theory, though, is that this could be a second-generation Cheetah Square.

That idea starts to make more sense when you look at the overall package. A large internal footprint, much bigger battery and square display would fit nicely with a running-focused watch designed for longer GPS sessions, clearer on-wrist metrics and perhaps even better navigation features.

But that is not where it ends. We are expecting Cheetah 2 Pro to launch in the weeks ahead. Plenty of leaks are already floating around, including images of retail units. That model goes by number A2564, while this one carries the moniker A2568, so the numbering is fairly close.

Our takeaway

Even without an official name, this is one of the more intriguing Zepp Health filings we have seen in recent weeks because it points to a new square watch with an unusually large 550mAh battery. That alone suggests the company may be preparing something with stronger endurance than its current rectangular lineup.

If this does turn out to be a Cheetah 2 Square, the larger battery could make it a compelling option for runners and outdoor users who want longer GPS tracking between charges. For now, the branding remains unknown, but the filing strongly suggests another square Amazfit watch is moving closer to launch.

A new HYROX Warsaw promo video from Amazfit Poland may have given us an early glimpse of an unannounced watch. While the device carries a limited event watch face, the hardware itself appears similar to the Balance 2, but not quite the same, raising the possibility that Zepp Health may be preparing a new variant.

A familiar design with some obvious differences

A few things stand out in the Instagram post. While the display and overall proportions look very Balance-like, the casing does not immediately resemble a standard Balance 2 render. The biggest difference is the outer case architecture. Instead of the smoother round shell and clearly exposed crown of the current model, this one appears to sit inside a more angular protective frame, with harder edges and what look like screw-like details around the top and bottom.

The lugs also seem chunkier and more engineered than on the Balance 2, where the case-to-strap transition is cleaner and more flowing. Here, the strap almost looks as if it mounts into a reinforced outer shell, which gives the watch a more tactical or hybrid-rugged feel. The side controls are less obvious too, with the crown area appearing more enclosed.

Taken together, it looks close enough to the Balance 2 to suggest the same design family, but different enough to raise questions. So what is it?

Too early for a Balance 3

A straight jump to a Balance 3 feels unlikely. The Balance 2 only launched globally in June 2025, which means it has been on the market for less than a year.

That timing matters because Zepp Health does not usually refresh this line at such a fast pace. A full generational successor would feel a little early, especially as the Balance 2 is still one of the company’s key premium smartwatches.

Amazfit Balance 2

A mid-cycle variant feels more realistic. This could be something along the lines of a special edition, a region-specific model, or a slightly refreshed version aimed at fitness-focused users. We recently saw the launch of Active 3 Premium. Perhaps this is a premium version of Balance 2?

HYROX link could be the real clue

Another interesting angle is the HYROX connection itself. The watch face in the video clearly references HYROX Warsaw, which suggests it was created specifically for the event.

That opens up the possibility that Zepp Health is testing a special edition tied to its ongoing HYROX partnership. The company has been leaning heavily into this relationship, so a Balance-based training edition would make sense.

Some on social media are also comparing it to the T-Rex 3 range. So there is an outside chance it could be related to that line instead.

For now, the safest conclusion is that Zepp Health appears to have something in the works. Whether that turns out to be a new variant or simply event-specific marketing hardware is something we will likely find out soon.

Garmin’s recent filings are starting to hint at what could make its way into the Fenix 9. The clearest clues so far are the Muscle Battery trademark, patents around long-term blood sugar tracking and signs that some of these features may rely on a separate sensor that pairs with the watch.

A bigger push into advanced health metrics

What we are likely to get is a move towards more advanced physiological data. The current Fenix line already covers the basics extremely well, with heart rate, HRV, sleep tracking, training readiness and recovery time all forming part of the package. But it has been a while since we’ve had something truly new.

What Garmin now appears to be exploring goes a layer deeper, looking at biomarkers and longer-term indicators that move beyond day-to-day training stats. This would fit with the way the wearables market is evolving, as serious users increasingly want devices that can bridge the gap between performance tracking and broader health monitoring.

The HbA1c-related work is a good example of this direction. Instead of trying to mimic live glucose readings, the idea seems to centre on offering a view of longer-term metabolic health trends, which could eventually sit alongside Garmin’s existing wellness tools. That would be incredibly useful.

There is also the possibility of other new health metrics. Garmin’s patents reference hydration, hematocrit and tissue oxygen estimation through pulse spectroscopy. This could give the Fenix 9 users some genuinely new insights. Granted, these are unlikely to arrive in 2026 – but one can always hope.

Muscle Battery may be part of a bigger ecosystem

The Muscle Battery trademark we uncovered a few days ago is another interesting clue. This is not a patent – it’s a trademark – so Garmin is most likely actively working on it.

But it probably should not be viewed as a direct wrist-based Fenix 9 feature. Muscle oxygen saturation is not something that can be captured from the wrist.

Existing solutions that track SmO2, such as dedicated sports sensors, are usually worn on specific muscle groups like the thigh or calf. Because of that, Garmin will probably prepare a separate accessory device that pairs with the Fenix 9.

This could take the form of a strap-based wearable or something conceptually similar to Garmin’s existing chest straps and cycling accessories. In that setup, the Fenix 9 would act as the central display and analytics hub, while the sensor itself sits much closer to the muscle being measured. Or perhaps the upcoming CIRQA band might play a part.

That would actually make a lot of sense from Garmin’s perspective. It allows the company to extend its performance ecosystem without compromising the design of the watch itself, while also giving serious athletes access to more specialised data.

Other upgrades

As far as hardware, last year we saw a Garmin patent that combines solar charging with AMOLED. If the company has found a way to make that work without compromising screen clarity, it could finally remove the trade-off between the bright, vibrant display of the AMOLED model and the longer battery life of the Solar variants.

Another patent filing hints at a magnetic rotating crown that uses a Hall effect sensor rather than a traditional physical shaft. That would make map zooming and menu navigation feel much smoother while also avoiding another opening in the case. But this is more likely to debut on something like the Venu than the Fenix.

Recently, Garmin has also filed patents around a redesigned antenna system built directly into the watch case. Instead of relying on fixed dedicated antennas, parts such as the bezel, bottom plate and internal conductive elements could double up for GNSS, LTE and even satellite communication duties.

What this means for the upcoming launch

Taken together, these patents and trademark filings suggest the Fenix 9 may be less about cosmetic changes and more about smarter data and stronger ecosystem integration. So we may get a bigger upgrade this year than what we have become accustomed to.

As far as timing, there have been a few clues. Based on recent executive comments and Garmin’s usual release cadence, the most likely launch window looks to be the second half of 2026, with late summer to early autumn, most likely August to October, feeling like the sweet spot.

That would fit with Garmin’s recent pattern of major outdoor watch launches landing in the back half of the year. It also gives the company time to position the Fenix 9 as the centrepiece of what could be a broader performance ecosystem refresh.

Garmin’s CIRQA wearable has taken another step toward launch, and yes, it now looks very real. We discovered a trademark filing that has gone unnoticed. Dated February 25, it offers the clearest official clue yet that the device is moving through Garmin’s launch pipeline.

The USPTO application numbered £99670310 itself is unusually specific. Rather than using broad fitness tracker wording, Garmin describes wearable devices placed on the body that measure physiological data, bio-signals and bodily behaviour, alongside metrics linked to stress recovery, alertness and performance.

Taken together, this points well beyond a conventional fitness band. The language strongly suggests a recovery-first wearable designed for continuous wear, with a focus on sleep, training load and daily readiness, which lines up closely with what earlier leaks had hinted at.

A stronger signal than the original leak

Back in January, we reported that Garmin had briefly exposed a product page reference to a “CIRQA Smart Band” on its own site. That leak pointed to two sizes, multiple colour options and an estimated shipping window that suggested a mid-2026 release.

At the time, the main question was whether this was simply another fitness band or something aimed more directly at the recovery wearable space currently dominated by devices like Whoop. There was speculation about the upcoming device including a screen-less design and deeper recovery analytics.

This latest trademark filing adds more weight to that theory and makes the earlier leak feel far more significant in hindsight. The wording around stress recovery, alertness and performance feels very deliberate, and Garmin could easily have filed something much broader.

Instead, the language closely mirrors how recovery-focused wearables are typically positioned, which strengthens the view that CIRQA may be designed as a dedicated recovery and readiness device rather than a conventional fitness band.

The filing hints at Garmin’s direction

What stands out most is that the application is filed on an intent-to-use basis. In other words, this is not a legacy product name being renewed. It strongly suggests something Garmin intends to bring to market.

The legal description covers electronic sensors and monitors worn on the body, along with devices for storing and transmitting the collected data. That fits with a band-style wearable that relies heavily on app-based insights rather than an onboard display.

If Garmin does take CIRQA in this direction, it could represent a different kind of product from its existing smartwatch and band lineup. This may be designed as a dedicated recovery and readiness device.

That would also make sense strategically. Garmin already has the software foundation in place through Body Battery, HRV Status, sleep analytics and training readiness metrics. CIRQA could simply package those ideas into a more discreet form factor.

Release date

The trademark timeline may also offer a small clue on launch timing, although it is not a direct release indicator. Garmin filed the CIRQA name on February 25 and the application is still listed as awaiting assignment to an examining attorney. But that does not prevent the company from launching the device before the trademark is formally approved.

In practice, brands often release new hardware while the legal process is still moving through the USPTO. When viewed alongside the earlier smart band leak, which pointed to a mid-2026 shipping window, the latest filing still fits with a potential late spring or early summer launch rather than suggesting any delay.

For now, nothing is official beyond the trademark filing, but it does make the earlier leak look far less accidental and much more like an early glimpse of a product already moving through Garmin’s launch pipeline.
