A possible Pixel Watch 5 has appeared in one of the stranger wearable leaks we have seen for a while, after it was reportedly found underwater near St. Martin. The watch appears to carry Pixel Watch 5 branding on the back.

The story comes from Randy Pitchford, who posted on X that a friend found the watch while scuba diving near the island. According to the post, the device seemed to be fine, with the display showing an empty battery icon while still keeping enough reserve power to show the correct time.

A friend of mine found this watch a few days ago ~underwater~ when he was scuba diving near the island of St. Martin. He noted that the reverse of the watch indicates that it is a Google Pixel 5, which has not yet been announced, let alone released. It seems to be fine. The face… pic.twitter.com/Mnenov1sFE
— Randy Pitchford (@DuvalMagic) May 31, 2026

That is a wonderfully odd way for an unreleased smartwatch to surface. Most leaks arrive through regulatory filings, retailer listings, app code or factory images. Not this one.

The back of the watch does the talking

The face looks very familiar, with the same rounded Pixel Watch style Google has used across the range. The real clues sit on the underside.

The rear casing appears to show “Google” and “Pixel Watch 5” branding, along with markings for SpO2, skin temperature, EDA, UWB, pressure sensor and IP68. A 45mm marking also seems to be visible, although the angle and reflections make some of the smaller text harder to read.

So based only on the visible caseback text, there is no obvious new sensor category here. Previous reports have suggested Google could move the next watch to an in-house Tensor chip, with newer CPU cores and a more efficient 3nm design.

Of course, a printed marking can mislead, images can be altered and prototype units do not always reflect final retail hardware. Still, the combination of the physical design, rear markings and the odd discovery story makes this harder to dismiss outright.

Not much design change on show

Assuming the device is real, the leak does not show a dramatic design shift. The watch looks close to the current Pixel Watch formula, with a curved circular case and a fairly clean underside layout.

The lack of visible software also limits what we can take from this. The device was not shown running Wear OS in any useful way, and the low battery screen does not tell us much about new features. So for now, this is more about existence and markings than function.

The internet enjoyed this one

The reaction has been almost as interesting as the leak itself. One widely shared reply called it “maybe the most Google thing to ever happen,” which neatly sums up the mood around the post. Google hardware has a long history of early appearances, misplaced prototypes and unusually public leaks.

Other comments have been more sceptical. Some users pointed out that the watch looks very similar to the current Pixel Watch design, while others questioned whether the “5” marking could have been altered. That is fair, because a leak this unusual needs more caution than a clean FCC filing or official support page slip.

Still, the story has the kind of weirdness that makes it hard to ignore. A possible Pixel Watch 5 turning up underwater before launch is exactly the sort of thing people remember, even if the visible hardware changes end up looking fairly modest.

Pixel Watch 5 will likely arrive in September or October if Google keeps to its usual schedule. Until then, these images give us a strange early look at what may be the next model, but not much in the way of confirmed upgrades. Oh, and if you are wondering, the watch is reportedly being returned to its owner.

Garmin CIRQA has picked up an interesting new rumour, but it needs a clear warning label. A since-deleted Reddit post from an anonymous burner account claimed the device could work alongside Garmin watches to improve auto-detection, start workouts and fill in missing activity data.

Now let’s be clear – that is not confirmed information. Not even close. There are no screenshots, app references or any documents to support it. But the idea is still worth looking at.

The claim goes beyond normal auto-detection

According to this info, CIRQA would work on its own, but its main feature would come when worn with a Garmin watch. The user would be asked to wear the band on the opposite arm, allowing the watch and CIRQA to combine 24/7 heart rate, gyroscope and accelerometer data.

Apparently, this setup would allow Garmin to identify workouts automatically, even when the user has not started an activity. It also says users would be able to edit auto-detected workouts later, with Garmin filling in the details from the background data already collected.

For outdoor activities, the claim goes further. When running, CIRQA and the watch would allegedly detect the run and automatically start an activity on the watch to enable GPS. Users would supposedly be able to choose between automatic start and stop, or a prompt to start the activity manually.

That is a very specific claim for an anonymous post. So it should not be treated as firm information. But as a product idea, it is not too far fetched.

Why the idea fits Garmin

Garmin already has Move IQ, which can recognise some activity patterns in the background. But that is not the same as a proper recorded workout. If you want the full Garmin experience, with GPS, training effect, load, recovery and sport-specific data, you still usually need to press start.

That is where CIRQA could be useful. If Garmin can use a second wearable to improve detection, it could close one of the gaps with Whoop. Whoop is strong because users do not need to think about logging every workout. Garmin is stronger once the workout has started, but it still relies more on manual recording.

A second sensor position could also help in some situations. Wearing CIRQA on the opposite arm might improve heart-rate reliability or movement classification when the watch wrist is compromised. It is easy to see why Garmin might explore this.

But the hard part is reliability

The tricky bit is not detecting a run. The tricky bit is doing this well across real life. Cycling, strength training, racket sports and mixed sessions can all create messy wrist movement. Two arms can also tell different stories, especially if one hand is holding something.

That makes the automatic GPS start claim the part to treat with the most caution. A prompt on the watch sounds believable. Silent auto-start would need to be very reliable, otherwise it could quickly become annoying.

Still, the bigger idea is interesting. CIRQA as a standalone screenless band sounds useful, but not especially different from other passive health trackers. CIRQA as a companion sensor for Garmin watches is a stronger pitch.

For now, this remains an unverified claim. But it raises the right question. If Garmin wants CIRQA to stand out, making it work with existing watches may be a smarter route than simply chasing Whoop on its own terms.

This article originally appeared on Gadgets & Wearables, the first media outlet to report the story.

Huawei may be preparing one of its busiest smartwatch launch windows in recent memory, with a new leak pointing to several wearable releases in Q3 2026. The list reportedly includes the Watch GT 7 series, Watch 6, Watch D3, a new SuperNova Watch X1 colour and a more unusual Huawei and Descente ski-focused model.

The information comes via a Weibo tipster (@FixedFocus) and should still be treated as a roadmap leak rather than a confirmed launch schedule. But if the lineup is accurate, Huawei may be lining up a packed smartwatch release cycle.

The Descente model is the wildcard

The most interesting name in the leak is not Watch GT 7 or Watch 6. It is the Huawei and Descente smartwatch, which appears to be positioned as a ski-focused model, possibly sitting under Huawei’s Ultimate Design branding.

Descente has a strong association with winter sports and Huawei already has premium outdoor watch hardware that could support a more specialised sports edition. A ski watch would also give Huawei something more distinctive than another luxury finish or strap refresh.

The useful question is what Huawei actually does with the concept. It could be a design-led collaboration with themed faces, straps and ski modes. Or Huawei could go deeper with skiing performance metrics, route tracking, altitude data and sport-specific algorithms.

GT 7 could carry the mainstream line

The Watch GT 7 series is likely to be the more important launch in volume terms. Huawei’s GT range has become the company’s mainstream fitness and battery-life line, sitting below the more expensive Watch series while still offering strong health and sports features.

No word yet on what GT 7 and GT 7 Pro would bring. Possibly long battery life, a bright display, solid sports tracking, along with a design that feels more like a proper watch than a basic tracker.

The challenge for Huawei is that this part of the market is crowded. Garmin, Zepp Health, Samsung and Apple all approach the space from different angles, so Huawei needs a clear reason for users to look at GT 7 beyond another annual upgrade.

Watch 6 may be about health sensing

The Watch 6 could be the model where Huawei pushes its health platform forward. Watch 5 introduced X-TAP, the side-mounted health sensor module that combines ECG, PPG and pressure input for faster manual readings.

That gives Huawei a useful base to work from. The first version showed the idea. A Watch 6 could show whether Huawei sees fingertip-based sensing as a headline feature or as part of a broader health platform.

The company has already been moving beyond basic heart rate, sleep and SpO2 data towards risk assessment and richer health snapshots. If Watch 6 improves how those readings are interpreted, it could become more than a premium lifestyle watch with a clever side sensor.

Watch D3 keeps the medical angle alive

The Watch D3 mention is also worth watching, even if the timing sounds less certain. Huawei’s Watch D line has always sat apart from the rest of the range because of its blood pressure focus. There has been speculation around broader metabolic health features.

If it does arrive in or after Q3, it could help Huawei keep a foothold in a category where most smartwatches still avoid proper blood pressure hardware. That remains one of the few areas where Huawei has a genuinely different proposition.

A busier roadmap than usual

Taken together, the leak suggests Huawei may be preparing a much more segmented smartwatch lineup for the second half of 2026. GT 7 would handle the mainstream fitness watch role, Watch 6 would carry the premium health-tech story and Watch D3 would continue the more specialised blood pressure line.

The Descente model adds the more unusual part. It hints at Huawei using partnerships to create watches for specific sports identities rather than just selling one premium watch in several finishes.

A new Zepp Health FCC filing has revealed an Amazfit “Smart sensor” with the model number A2671, along with a second listed variant called A2672. The filing does not name the product, but the shape, specs and timing point strongly towards the next Helio Strap or Helio Core hardware.

Zepp Health has already said that it is working on next-generation Helio hardware for the second half of 2026. This filing now gives us the first real regulatory clue that something in that line is moving through the pipeline.

The filing points to a screenless sensor

The documents describe the product as a Smart sensor rather than a smartwatch, which is the first important clue. The device uses Bluetooth Low Energy in the 2.4GHz band, with no sign of GPS, Wi-Fi, LTE, NFC or any other wireless system in the visible documents.

The external drawing is more interesting than the radio details. It shows a small rectangular module with rounded corners, a large circular sensor area on the back and two charging contacts below it. That layout pretty much matches the exact shape of the first generation Helio Strap

The model numbers are also worth noting. A2671 and A2672 do not match the current Helio Strap model references we have seen before, which suggests this is not simply the same device being copied across another document. It’s also noteworthy that two variants of the same underlying sensor module are listed. That could mean regional versions, different bundles or a standalone core and strap package.

Visible upgrades are limited for now

The interesting part is that the visible specs do not scream major hardware overhaul. The battery is listed at 230mAh, which is very close to the current Helio Core’s listed capacity. The label still shows 5 ATM water resistance and the filing focuses on basic BLE connectivity.

That does not mean upgrades are absent. FCC documents are useful for radio, battery and external design clues, but they don’t tell the full product story. Improvements to optical sensor layout, algorithms, strap design, app integration, recovery metrics or training guidance could easily sit outside the visible filing.

This is where the Helio Strap 2 story becomes more nuanced. The documents suggest continuity rather than a dramatic redesign, but they also suggest Zepp Health is preparing fresh hardware.

Helio Core Gen 1

A stronger signal than roadmap talk

Until now, Helio Strap 2 sat mostly in roadmap territory. Zepp Health had already hinted that more Helio hardware was coming, but there was little to point to beyond that. This FCC filing changes the picture because it gives us a model number, a physical outline, wireless details and an Amazfit-branded smart sensor label.

The confidentiality request is also useful. Zepp Health asked for the external photos, internal photos, test setup photos and user manual to stay hidden until the device is marketed, or for 180 days from the FCC grant date, whichever comes first. The request itself is dated May 12th, 2026, so if the grant date sits around the same period, the withheld material would likely become public around early to mid November 2026 unless the product launches before then.

That lines up with the company’s earlier second-half 2026 comments around next-generation Helio hardware. It is not the same as a launch confirmation, but this is the kind of regulatory breadcrumb that usually appears when hardware is moving closer to release.

This article originally appeared on Gadgets & Wearables, the first media outlet to report the story.

Xiaomi Smart Band 10 Pro is now out, and its new HRV feature makes that month-old Smart Band 11 leak from Chinese forums look a lot more credible. If the rest of the specs hold up, the regular model could be getting a much bigger sensor upgrade than expected.

The HRV detail changes things

When the Smart Band 11 specs leak first appeared online, it was difficult to know what to make of it. Some of the specs sounded realistic, while others felt a bit too ambitious for Xiaomi’s regular fitness band line.

The important detail was HRV. The leak claimed Smart Band 11 would add Heart Rate Variability tracking alongside more advanced recovery analysis. At the time, that felt uncertain because Xiaomi had never really pushed HRV on its Smart Bands.

But Smart Band 10 Pro changes the picture. Xiaomi has now officially added HRV to that device, which suddenly makes the same Smart Band 11 claim feel much less random.

That does not mean the leak is definitely real. But it now lines up much more closely with Xiaomi’s current direction.

A brighter display with slimmer borders

The design claims are more specific than they first look. Smart Band 11 is said to move to a 1.78-inch display with an 8% higher screen-to-body ratio, which suggests Xiaomi may be shrinking the black border around the screen rather than making the tracker itself much bigger.

The leak also mentions 2200 nits peak brightness, Outdoor Strong Light Adaptive Mode and smoother font edges. That would make the display easier to read outdoors and help messages and sports data fit more cleanly on the small screen.

The body may slim down too. The leak points to an 8.99mm thin metal frame, while the weight stays at 15.95g, matching Smart Band 10 without the strap.

The strap changes are also notable. The leaked Konger leather magnetic strap and half-chain option make Smart Band 11 sound less like a pure fitness tracker and more like an everyday wearable.

Here is a render we put together of what Smart Band 11 may look like based on the leaked specs.

Xiaomi Smart Band 11 concept image | Source: Gadgets & Wearables

More sensors, more recovery

The leak mentions a three-axis magnetometer and barometric altitude dual sensor. That would help Smart Band 11 record climbing height and give it better outdoor tracking context.

It also mentions a new body temperature sensor and electrodermal activity monitoring. If accurate, those additions would push the band further into stress, sleep and recovery tracking, rather than just basic fitness logging.

The menstrual cycle prediction claim also fits that direction. The leak says the band could monitor night-time body temperature fluctuations to provide earlier period warnings.

Sports and charging get a boost

Reportedly, the new device will have 200+ sports modes, up from the 150+ modes on Smart Band 10. It also mentions AI Motion Correction and Post-Workout Recovery Scoring, with HIIT and Pilates called out as new examples.

That sounds like Xiaomi wants to give the band more guidance after exercise, not just record the session and move on. Recovery scoring would also fit with HRV if Xiaomi decides to build a broader readiness-style feature around it.

Battery life is listed at up to 10 days with heavy use. The more interesting claim is magnetic fast charging, with 10 minutes of charging giving up to three days of use.

What this probably means

If all of this accurate, Smart Band 11 could be one of the more ambitious updates in Xiaomi’s regular band line. Not because it changes the whole design, but because it may bring the standard model closer to recovery tracking, better outdoor use and more polished everyday wear. It would actually bring it close to the likes of Fitbit Charge 6 – at least in terms of the sensor hardware.

For now, this still belongs in the leak bucket. The Pro model has shown where Xiaomi is heading, and Smart Band 11 may be the device that brings more of that direction to the regular band.

As far as a possible launch date, we usually get the next gen Smart Band in May or early June. There’s no reason to think this year will be any different.

Tech specs comparison – Smart Band 11 (leak) vs Smart Band 10

Suunto appears to have another new device moving through regulatory channels, and this one is not a watch. We found a Singapore database entry for model SHRM2, named as a Bluetooth heart rate monitor, appearing alongside OW245, the outdoor watch model we first connected to Suunto Core 2 through the FCC database before it was reported elsewhere.

We have now spotted another regulatory clue that appears to have gone unnoticed. The earlier OW245 model has surfaced again, this time in Singapore, which lines up with the FCC trail and adds weight to the Core 2 story. But the second line in the Singapore search result is arguably just as interesting, because SHRM2 appears under the Suunto brand as a Bluetooth heart rate monitor.

What the listing shows

The Singapore listing keeps things fairly simple. It names Suunto as the brand, gives the model number as SHRM2 and describes the equipment as a heart rate monitor with Bluetooth connectivity.

That description does not leave much room for guesswork around the product category. This is not framed as a smartwatch, outdoor watch or fitness band. It appears to be a dedicated heart rate monitor, which points toward Suunto’s accessory range rather than its watch lineup.

The supplier is shown as Global Approvals Pte. Ltd., which also appears on the OW245 entry. That puts both devices in the same regulatory context, even though they clearly sit in different categories.

SHRM2 looks like a second generation HRM

The model name is the giveaway here. SHRM2 reads very naturally as Suunto Heart Rate Monitor 2, or something very close to that internally.

Suunto already sells the Smart Heart Rate Belt under the STHR10 name. That device is a compact chest strap module built for Bluetooth use, with support for swimming and internal memory when the watch is not nearby. So SHRM2 could easily fit as a newer version of that concept.

Suunto HR belt

There is another small clue outside the Singapore database. A Nordic developer thread includes a project path referencing shrm2, shrm_2 and suunto, with the platform shown as nRF54L15. That does not confirm the final retail name, but it does suggest Suunto has been working on hardware or firmware under the SHRM2 label.

Why Suunto might refresh the strap now

A new Suunto heart rate monitor would not be a random move. Chest straps still have a very clear role for serious training, especially for interval sessions, cold weather, cycling and activities where wrist based optical sensors can struggle.

Suunto’s watches have improved a lot in recent years, but many users still pair them with external sensors for cleaner heart rate data. A refreshed HRM would give Suunto a better companion accessory for its devices.

The current Suunto Smart Heart Rate Belt is also not a new product anymore. It still has useful features, including memory for workouts when the watch is out of range, but the hardware category has moved on. Competitors now push longer range, better multi device pairing, rechargeable designs and stronger app handling, so Suunto has room to update the formula.

The post Amazfit HYROX watch gets clearer in new regulatory filing appeared first on Gadgets & Wearables.

The mystery Amazfit watch from the HYROX Warsaw clip now looks a bit less mysterious. After looking through the image in the regulatory filing, we have concluded that model A2553 is the same device, complete with what looks to be a 45mm display, angular outer shell and a sizeable 780mAh battery.

A couple of weeks ago, we wrote about a HYROX Warsaw promo video from Amazfit Poland that appeared to show an unannounced Balance-style watch. At the time, the design looked close to the Balance 2, but the case architecture was different enough to raise questions.

A few days ago Zepp Health posted this teaser on their social media channels.

The new regulatory material now adds more detail to that earlier sighting and the teaser. We are, however, missing the final retail name.

The HYROX watch now looks like A2553

The watch shown in the HYROX Warsaw clip had a familiar round display and general Balance-like proportions, but the surrounding case did not look like the standard Balance 2. It had a more angular frame, more pronounced lugs, screw-like details around the top and bottom and a more rugged case-to-strap transition.

That is where today’s FCC filing gets interesting. The drawing for Amazfit model A2553 shows a large round watch sitting inside an angular outer structure, with the same kind of reinforced shape seen in the HYROX image. Looking through both side by side, to us this looks like the same device.

Clearly the same device | On the right, mockup created from leaked image – source: Gadgets & Wearables

The HYROX image also shows a rotating crown at the upper right. The filing drawing is more technical and does not read like a consumer render, so it does not clearly explain the controls. But the overall case geometry lines up well enough to connect the two.

The filing gives us proper hardware clues

The documents identify the device as a production unit. So this does not look like an early concept floating around inside a marketing department. The confidentiality clause on the full FCC filing runs out in six months, so we should see the watch before then.

A2553 has a 780mAh cell, which sits above the 700mAh battery in the T-Rex 3 but below the 870mAh one in the T-Rex Ultra 2. So this is not small-watch territory. It looks more like a bigger premium fitness watch, which fits the chunky HYROX design we saw earlier. Hence the emphasis on “BIG” in the teaser image.

Connectivity includes Bluetooth and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. The antenna documentation also covers receiver ranges around 1170MHz to 1180MHz and 1570MHz to 1580MHz, which points towards dual-band GNSS support. The filing does not spell out the final positioning feature set, so that should be treated as a strong hardware clue rather than a finished product claim.

Detail

What the filing shows

Model number

A2553

FCC ID

2AC8UA2553

Product type

Smart watch

Internal reference

Oslo antenna

Battery

780mAh rechargeable Li-ion battery

Charging input

DC 5V, 1.5A

Connectivity

Bluetooth and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi

GNSS clue

Antenna ranges around 1170MHz to 1180MHz and 1570MHz to 1580MHz point to dual-band GNSS support

Display diameter

45mm (probably)

Widest measured case span

51.73mm

Case shape

Round display inside a more angular outer shell

Still unknown

Retail name, launch date, sensor list, final software features and pricing

The size points to something above a standard Balance

The drawing gives us a few useful size clues. The watch appears to have a 45mm display, while the widest measured span across the outer case structure is 51.73mm. That makes sense when you look back at the HYROX pic, where the device looked broader and more built-up than the regular Balance 2.

It’s worth noting that these are mechanical or antenna-related references rather than retail case dimensions. The safer takeaway is that this is a large round watch with a wider angular shell around it.

This also explains why the earlier HYROX watch looked slightly odd at first glance. It was not just a Balance 2 with a different watch face. The case itself appears to be different, with a more protective outer frame and a more engineered strap connection.

The retail name is still the missing piece

The filing does not give us the final marketing name, so that part remains open. But the HYROX tie-in may be the clue.

Zepp Health has been leaning into HYROX as a fitness partnership and a more rugged Balance-style edition would fit that direction. The watch could end up as a special edition, a Pro-style variant or a fitness-focused version of Balance 2 with different casing and hardware tweaks. Or perhaps even a part of the T-Rex range.

The earlier HYROX Warsaw pic now looks less like a one-off promo image and more like an early public glimpse of real hardware. With the company teaser and now FCC material adding battery, connectivity, GNSS and size clues, we have a clearer picture of what Zepp Health has been preparing.

Suunto Core 2 just popped up in an FCC filing, and it looks like the old Core is making a comeback. The label shows a CR3032 replaceable battery, 100m water resistance, stainless steel and Bluetooth LE, which points to a proper outdoor tool watch with a bit of modern app support thrown in.

Suunto Core 2 shows up in certification documents

Suunto Core 2 now looks very real. We spotted an FCC filing for model OW245 which includes a product label that clearly carries the name “Suunto Core 2″. This is about as direct as these things get before an official announcement.

The filing describes the product as an outdoor watch under the Suunto brand. That lines up with what the Core name has always represented. This is not a general smartwatch line, or at least it has not been historically. Core has always been about outdoor basics, with altimeter, barometer, compass and weather tools at the centre of the experience.

The original Suunto Core dates back to 2007. It became one of the company’s best known non-GPS outdoor watches. It never chased modern smartwatch features, which was part of the appeal. You bought it because it did the outdoor watch thing without pretending to be a phone on your wrist.

That is why this filing is interesting. Suunto could have retired the name completely and left the rugged outdoor segment to watches such as Vertical and Race. Instead, the company appears to be preparing a proper follow-up to one of its most recognisable models.

The label tells us quite a bit

The FCC label gives away more than just the name. It shows water resistance of 100m, a CR3032 battery, stainless steel and the model number OW245. It also includes FCC, IC, CE, UKCA, EAC and KC markings, which points to a broader international launch rather than a tiny regional experiment.

The battery detail is probably the most important one. A CR3032 is a replaceable coin-cell battery, not a rechargeable lithium pack. That strongly suggests Core 2 is not trying to become a smaller Suunto Vertical or a full GPS sports watch.

Suunto Core

That matters because it tells us something about the product philosophy. Suunto seems to be keeping the Core idea intact. Long battery life, low maintenance and outdoor functions appear to matter more here than apps, AMOLED screens and daily charging routines.

The 100m water resistance is another useful clue. Older Core models were not always seen as serious water watches, despite their outdoor credentials. A 100m rating would make Core 2 more capable around swimming, wet weather and rougher outdoor use.

The stainless steel marking also helps. It most likely refers to the caseback, based on the label design, although the filing does not confirm the full case material. Even so, it points to a more robust build than a simple plastic-only outdoor watch.

Bluetooth changes the formula

The RF report confirms Bluetooth LE in the 2402MHz to 2480MHz range. That is an important difference from the classic Core experience, which was essentially standalone and self-contained.

Bluetooth does not automatically mean a smartwatch. It probably means Suunto app pairing, settings sync, firmware updates and possibly some basic phone-linked features. It may also allow the watch to sync logs or outdoor data without turning into a full training watch.

A good comparison might be a modern Casio Pro Trek style product rather than a Garmin Fenix alternative. The value would sit in the mix of outdoor tools, replaceable battery and rugged design. Bluetooth would bring it into the current Suunto ecosystem without changing what the watch is for.

September could be the key date

According to the filing, the confidentiality period runs until September 2026. Once that period expires, more detail can become public unless Suunto extends confidentiality or launches the product before then.

Suunto has strong modern sports watches, but not everyone wants maps, training load, heart rate sensors, AMOLED screens or charging cables. Some people just want a tough outdoor watch that can sit in a drawer, go on a trip and still be ready.

Oura may have accidentally given away more than it intended. A sizing video on its own checkout page briefly referred to “Oura Ring 5,” and that strengthens our view that the FCC filing we uncovered earlier this month is tied to Oura Ring 5 and a 2026 launch timeline.

The slip was spotted by a Reddit user during Oura’s sizing flow, where the official sizing video instructed buyers to place “Oura Ring 5” on their index finger. Not Ring 4, Ring 5. Oura later changed it back to the current Oura Ring 4 version.

Why this supports our FCC filing view

This is not some random supplier rumour or a vague certification clue. It is Oura’s own customer-facing sizing video, built for people getting ready to buy a ring. That is usually the sort of thing prepared much closer to launch.

When we covered the FCC filing, the main question was the name. The paperwork showed new Oura ring hardware in late-stage certification, with model OA13 for the ring and OA14 for the charger, but it did not actually mention “Oura Ring 5.” That left a small possibility it could be a redesigned version of the current Gen 4 device. That now looks much less likely.

Of course, the latest leak still does not make it certain that Gen 5 is about to launch. But it does make the late 2027 timeline some media outlets were pushing much harder to square with the evidence. The 180-day confidentiality request in the FCC paperwork, points to early September 2026 as the outer deadline for hidden materials such as internal photos and the user manual.

What to expect from Ring 5

Earlier images of the Gen 5 device shared by Android Headlines showed a ring that stays close to the current Oura look, but with a slightly more rounded outer profile.

The images also showed a new Deep Rose finish, which appears to replace the current Rose Gold option. Other finishes shown in the leak included Gold, Silver and Matte Black.

The inside of the ring also looked different in those images. That suggests Oura has changed the internal layout, although the leak did not confirm what sensors or features may be different.

The FCC filing adds one more concrete detail. It included an OA14 charger with a refreshed square dock, so the charging hardware also appears to be changing alongside the ring.

The timing is what makes this interesting. One stray Ring 5 mention in a sizing video could be brushed off, but it lands right after the FCC paperwork we found. That makes the next few months worth watching, because Oura now has more than one breadcrumb pointing in the same direction.

Earlier this week, we got the clearest look yet at Google’s upcoming screenless Fitbit band, with fresh images showing the rectangular tracker body sitting flush beneath the fabric strap. Now a new report suggests the device may launch under the name Fitbit Air, alongside a wider software shift that could see Fitbit Premium replaced by something called Google Health.

Image source: Instagram (upscaled by Gadgets & Wearables)

That adds a much clearer picture of what Google is building here. This is not shaping up to be another traditional fitness tracker with a display, but something much closer to a Whoop-style recovery band focused on all-day health monitoring and app-based insights.

Fitbit Air could be the final name

According to the latest report, the wearable will be marketed as Fitbit Air, with the fuller branding said to be Google Fitbit Air. The “Air” name is reportedly tied to the thinner and lighter design, with the idea being that it should feel comfortable enough to wear continuously without the bulk of a smartwatch.

That lines up with what we have already seen. The device looks compact, screenless and built around passive tracking rather than wrist-based interaction. Instead of checking stats directly on the wearable, the experience seems designed around collecting data in the background and reviewing it later in the app.

Stephen Curry has reportedly been wearing the device publicly since at least January, which makes this look far beyond an early prototype. Between press appearances and behind-the-scenes content, it seems clear Google has been testing this in plain sight for months.

A bigger shift may be happening in software

The more interesting part of this story may actually be the software strategy around it. It seems the subscription service that currently unlocks deeper insights and AI-powered features, is expected to be rebranded as Google Health. Fitbit’s AI-powered personal health coach, which is currently in public preview, would reportedly become Google Health Coach.

Fitbit hardware would still keep the Fitbit name, but the services around it would move more directly under the Google brand. It suggests Google wants health and wellness features to feel like part of its wider ecosystem rather than a separate Fitbit experience.

It also helps explain why earlier teaser content linked to the band ended with the colourful Google “G” logo rather than Fitbit branding. At the time that stood out, and now it makes much more sense.

The Fitbit app already hinted at it

There were already signs of this approach in the Fitbit app itself. Screens shown on a Pixel phone included a “Live data” page displaying Cardio Load, heart rate, calories burned and elapsed time. That screen does not currently exist in the public Fitbit app, which strongly suggests dedicated support for this new wearable is already being prepared behind the scenes.

This fits the wider idea of the product. Instead of acting like a smartwatch replacement, Fitbit Air looks like it is being positioned as a dedicated recovery and health tracker. It sits somewhere between a fitness band and a subscription-based coaching platform. So you will probably be able to use it alongside the Pixel Watch.

That is also why comparisons with Whoop keep coming up. The focus is less on notifications, apps and on-device features, and more on readiness, recovery and long-term health trends.

For now, Google still has not officially announced the device. But with clearer hardware images, months of public testing on Steph Curry’s wrist and now a likely product name and subscription strategy, Fitbit Air looks like it could land in the next few weeks.
