Amazfit Cheetah 2 Ultra update 3.3.2.1 improves GPS and route guidance

Amazfit Cheetah 2 Ultra is receiving firmware version 3.3.2.1.The headline change is new route data during workouts, while Zepp Health has also worked on GPS accuracy under tree cover. As can be seen, this is not a huge feature drop.

What is new in firmware 3.3.2.1

The main addition is a new set of data points during workouts. According to the update notes, the watch can now show remaining distance, remaining ascent and remaining descent to the next waypoint and to the final destination.

That should be useful for anyone following a route rather than just tracking an open-ended run. Distance to destination is helpful, but ascent and descent data gives the feature a more practical outdoor angle. It tells you more about what is still ahead, not just how far you have left to go.

For trail running, hiking or longer off-road routes, that extra context can make pacing easier. A flat kilometre and a steep kilometre are not the same thing, so having remaining climb and descent shown during an activity is useful.

GPS under tree cover gets attention

The update also says GPS tracks and real-time pace have improved under tree cover. As most people know, wooded areas remain a difficult environment for sports watches.

That’s because tree cover can interfere with satellite reception and often leads to messy tracks, pace jumps or delayed real-time pace changes. A firmware tweak will not magically remove those limitations, but it can improve how the watch interprets signal data when conditions are less than ideal.
