Review: MiFone L58 – a beautiful smartwatch at a budget price
A beautiful smartwatch don’t necessarily need to break the bank. The MiFone L58 is proof of that. This smartwatch has an extremely attractive design, built-in basic fitness features, and yet sells for only $16.99. Yes, it sells for less than seventeen dollars. But don’t get confused. Despite the name, this product does not come from Xiaomi. MiFone is a separate brand.
The design is probably the biggest selling point of this budget device. The MiFone L58 is circular in shape and features an aluminium 603 case. This is a corrosion-resistant material with strong durability. The strap, like that of the Apple Watch, is made of anti-allergic fluoroelastomer, a synthetic rubber that works well.

The OLED screen is touch sensitive, sharp and very easy to read despite a resolution of only 64×48 pixels. The manufacturers have decided to keep the design simple. There are no physical buttons. Instead, you activate the watch and operate the device by tapping on the bottom half of the screen. The design would appeal to both sexes and there are two colour to choose from, Black and White.
The overall dimensions of this smartwatch are 22.80 x 4.00 x 0.68 centimetres. The diameter of the core unit is 40 mm, with a thickness of only 6.8 mm. The overall length of the smart band is 228 mm, with thickness of 2.2 mm. The device is very light weighing in at only 30 grams.
MiFone L58 comes with a Li-polymer Battery with a 120mAh of capacity. On the back of the dial, you’ll find the magnetic suction charging slot and the brand logo. It can take around 2 hours to charge fully and it can provide you approximately 30 days of standby time. With normal use, expect to recharge the battery every 2 to 3 days.
In terms of hardware, the device comes with 64 MB of RAM and 128 MB of internal storage; pretty much the standard for this price range. Along with the good amount of memory, you will be happy to know that the watch is splash-resistant, but don’t plan on taking it with you for a swim.
In terms of functionality, don’t expect some super amazing functions. Nevertheless, despite its low price this is a fully featured smartwatch.
The health and fitness functions are probably what is of most interest to us. And these are pretty basic. You will get step, distance, calorie and sports trajectory tracking, but not much more than that. There is also a sleep monitor which does a fairly decent job. It will give you your overall sleep duration, along with deep and light sleep. There is also an alarm function that wakes you up via the vibration feature.
The watch can be run either with Android platform and also on iOS device. The app itself is fairly basic and takes a bit to get used to.
MiFone L58 supports Bluetooth calling and also can display the caller name. It has the phone call reminder, the message reminder, the anti-theft vibration alert, alarm clock, clock display, and also WeChat reminder. There is also a remote camera function that allows you to take smartphone pictures by using the smartwatch.

All in all, this is a very cheap but very beautifully designed device. The simplicity of the design is what probably makes this watch so attractive. If you are looking for a fully featured fitness tracker or a sophisticated smartphone – you will not find it here. But if you are after an affordable device that you can proudly wear on your wrist, and are after the basics, you will be a happy customer.
