Netatmo Healthy Home Coach monitors the vitals of your home
Indoor air quality is a major influence on the health and comfort of your home. With 90% of our time spent indoors, determining the quality of the air that surrounds us is important. Most people don’t know that the air they breathe in their homes can be up to five times worse than outdoors.
Common pollutants include lead in house dust, formaldehyde, fire-retardants, radon, even volatile chemicals from fragrances used in conventional cleaners. And lets not forget microscopic dust mites, a major allergen, and mold and heaps of pet dander.

Luckily, there is an increasing range of connected devices that allow you to monitor for air pollution and alert you to take action when necessary. Netatmo has now added a new product to the mix.
The $100 home monitoring system, called the Healthy Home Coach, connects to a smartphone app to inform you of your home’s temperature, humidity, noise level, air quality and CO2. Visually, the gadget looks very similar to the French company’s security and weather trackers. We have not tested the product yet, but reading through the specs, it actually measures the exact same metrics as Netatmo’s indoor weather station module (view on Amazon).
“We spend up to 80% of our daily life indoors,” said Fred Potter, founder and CEO of Netatmo.
“Our indoor living spaces are three to eight times more polluted than outdoors, causing allergies, spreading sickness, decreasing productivity and impairing our health over time. But, it is hard to care about what you can’t see or control. Healthy Home Coach teaches users how to act for a healthier home.”
Netatmo’s Healthy Home Coach will monitor the vitals of your home and send you alerts when something needs to be fixed. The app will show you at a glance whether your home is healthy or not and it will provide you with advice on what you can do to improve the situation. For example, it can tell you the best noise level for sound sleeping or the right humidity level for a child with asthma.
Air quality is also very important. A poorly ventilated room leads to high indoor air pollution and can affect concentration amongst other things. Healthy Home Coach sends you notifications to make sure you never forget to ventilate a room. It will also warn you if the temperature in your home is not at the right level. This is particularly important for young children. A room that feels just right to you might be too hot for them.

You can integrate Netatmo’s device with Apple’s HomeKit and use Siri to communicate with it. If you live in a large home, connect several Healthy Home Coach devices to monitor all your rooms in one app. All of the data is recorded online and made permanently accessible on your smartphone, tablet or PC.
Air quality is a growing problem. Statistics show that nearly a half of Americans breathe unhealthy air. California, the rust belt, and the south generally have the worst outdoor air quality. And the situation is much worse in some other countries.
In the past, there was no clear way for the average person to determine the quality of air they are breathing. Thankfully, that’s all changed now, no more guessing. The tracker is on sale on Netatmo’s website and various retailers such as Amazon.
