iTENS delivers wearable pain relief on the go
The iTENS is a modern day electrotherapy device that merges wearable technology with effective and lasting pain relief. The company behind this innovative product raised $40,353 earlier this year to develop the gadget, 159% above the intended goal.
You hear horror stories these days about crowdfunding campaigns that raise lots of cash and then fizzle out into obscurity after a year or two without delivering on their promises. This was not the case with ITENS and the product was delivered on schedule and is available now to everyone through Amazon.
So what exactly is it?
The iTENS is the world’s first FDA-cleared, true wireless TENS therapy device that is controlled with an IOS or Android based app. It provides an alternative treatment to pain, one that is drug-free and prescription free.
Using easy to apply pads to areas of the body that need relief from pain, sensors are activated wirelessly, using an app for iPhone and Android smartphones. The app controls the power and intensity of the treatment. TENS works by sending tiny electrical signals through the skin to intercept pain signals from reaching the brain, and help release endorphins, the body’s natural pain-fighting chemical.
Using the device, the app displays the user’s pain level, and then tracks the results over time. You can choose programs based on body part, pain condition, or make a custom manual program for: Tennis Elbow, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Arthritis, Bursitis, Tendonitis, Plantar Fasciitis, Sciatica, Back Pain, Fibromyalgia, Shin Splints, Neuropathy, and other Inflammation Ailments.
iTENS is completely wireless, wearable, and flexible. The lithium-ion battery provides 24 hours of use on a single charge, and the peel ‘n’ stick gel pads are reusable and replaceable for multiple applications. The device kit includes a docking station with USB cord for charging the device.
“The iTENS device was created for people who are in need of a portable, convenient method of pain management that doesn’t involve taking prescription medication,” says iTENS CEO Joshua Lefkovitz.
“We designed the iTENS to be thin, flexible, discreet, and easy to operate from the iTENS app.”
Now, we have not tried the product, but if Indiegogo comments from backers and Amazon reviews are anything to go by, the wearable does what it was designed to do. As a non-prescription pain relief system, this is a drug-free solution that delivers therapeutic treatment stimuli to provide pain relief that the user can control.
