Stealth: integrate video gaming into your workout

Stealth is a new Kickstarter project that aims makes core training fun and efficient, helping you blend exercise into your day like brushing your teeth or taking a coffee break. The device integrates video gaming into your workout, helping to train 29 core muscles in only a few minutes a day.

Planking is widely known as one of the most effective ways of strengthening one’s core. The exercise has been a staple in exercise classes such as Pilates and yoga, and with personal trainers for years.

For the uninformed, planking is typically seen as one of the toughest things you can do to your body. You lie flat on the floor, then raise yourself on your tiptoes and elbows whilst keeping your forearms on the ground and your back flat. You then hold that position for as long as you can. Which, unless you are super-fit, is typically no more than a few minutes.

Planking can, however, quickly become boring, causing users to fatigue mentally often before they would fatigue physically. The Stealth system aims to change this by integrating interactive game-play and exercise. Download the Stealth app on your smartphone, place it inside the device, choose your workout, get into the plank position, and start exercising. The aim is to score as many points as you can while thoroughly engaging all 29 abdominal muscles.

The games are designed to maximize your workout in the minimum amount of time. The company behind the product says, most users who have tried the device can’t make it past the 3-minute mark.

It’s worth adding in a health warning. Correct positioning and body alignment is extremely important when planking, and it is also essential not to overdo it. Otherwise you risk injury. Especially if you are not in good physical condition.

The device was launched on Kickstarter earlier this week and has quickly smashed through its funding goal.
