Pebble’s firmware update brings several new heart rate features

Pebble has just released a new software update for its Pebble 2 and Time-Series watches which brings with it a number of new features and enhancements. This includes a quicker interface, better heart rate tracking and Reminders support for iOS.

First off, the update brings a new watch face which is designed to save you time. Kickstart allows you to view time, step count, step progress for the day, and heart rate (2-Series only) at a glance. You can find it in the Watchfaces tab of the Pebble app after updating your watch and mobile app to 4.3.

In terms of heart rate improvements, the update introduces on-wrist and in-app heart-rate zones for Series 2 watches. This enables you to see how much time you spent in Fat Burn, Endurance, and Performance heart-rate zones. The update also allows you to download and install third apps such as Runkeeper and use them to track your heart-rate activity.

Finally, the update also brings with it voice reminders that save to your Timeline and sync with the iOS default Reminders app. This means, teminders created on the watch will show in your default Reminders list on the phone. Marking items done on the watch will also sync back to your phone (and vice versa).

All current users can update their Pebble apps to version 4.3 from Google Play or the iTunes App Store. 2-Series and Time-Series users should update their watches from the Pebble app: Menu » Support » Update Your Pebble.
