SleepSmart Pillow: supportive, height adjustable pillow for side sleepers

Around 60% of the population sleeps on their side. But pillows are fixed and mass produced, so each one is only a solution for some. Side sleepers have different needs than back sleepers, and those needs vary from person to person.
A device launched on Kickstarter today is designed specifically with side sleepers in mind. The pillow was created after more than 1,000 interviews with side sleepers, who aired their grievances with existing pillows.

As a back sleeper, your body lies flat against the surface. However, this is not the case for side sleepers. Because of this, side sleepers would typically benefit from a pillow that is positioned higher.
This is where SleepSmart comes in. Its main trick is that it allows for this height adjustment. Air travels in and out of the bladder to increase or decrease the support height into optimal position. The user essentially controls the height of the pillow.
The air bladder also contains an air pressure sensor. This enables it to detect when your head is on the pillow as well as any additional motion associated with your sleep. The information is sent to the accompanying mobile app, which analyzes the data and provides insights and coaching to improve your rest.
In the morning, the intelligent pillow can wake you with vibration waves. You can use the accompanying app for time setting as well as controlling the intensity of the vibration. When enabled, there’s an additional Smart Wake Time feature that will automatically wake you up while you’re in the lightest phase of your sleep cycle.
The adjustable pillow is made of soft, premium materials that are hypoallergenic and 100% cotton. The stretchable and breathable AirMesh band around the comfort layer promotes airflow as you sleep.
