Garmin is a bit of a heavyweight when it comes to golf gadgets that help improve your game and swing. The wearable maker has just announced a new addition to its line of devices, the GPS equipped Approach S60 golf watch.

In a sense, the sleek looking wearable is as a scaled-down version of the Fenix 5 super-watch. Boasting a sunlight-readable 1.2 inch color touchscreen display and interchangeable watchbands, it comes preloaded with more than 40,000 courses from around the globe.

You’ll find course view mapping right on your wrist and access to information such as yardages to greens, hazards and doglegs. Like other Garmin models the S60 is also compatible with the Garmin Golf app that has a plethora of social features and allows users to compete in leaderboards with other Garmin users.

“The Approach S60 is as functional a golf watch as it is a stylish timepiece,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin vice president of global consumer sales.

“It’s packed with industry-leading features golfers have come to appreciate and rely on with our Approach series — like advanced AutoShot, SwingTempo, touch targeting and more — yet it’s the most stylish golf watch we’ve offered so it can easily be worn 24/7.”

One of the benefits of the Approach S60 is its AutoShot game tracking technology. This enables it to automatically record the location and distance of each shot by picking up where you are taking your swings. The Swing Tempo feature measures the relationship between your upswing and downswing, and the associated TempoTraining can help you fine-tune your swing tempo.

As mentioned, the golf watch measures distances to the front, back and middle of the green as well as the distance to course targets such as sand traps, water hazards, layups and doglegs. This will all be adjusted for slope. The Green View features lets you see the outline of the green on each hole and allows for manual positioning of the pin for precise measurements.

You can keep the S60 on your wrist when you’re off the course as the device also doubles up as a 24/7 activity tracker. It will keep tabs on your steps, calories, distance and sleep, and spit out alerts to get you moving. The only thing it seems to be missing is a heart rate sensor. You can get smartphone notifications on it, as well – right down to weather forecasts for anyone worried about a potential rainout.

In golf mode the battery will keep going for up to ten hours, which jumps up to ten days when used as an activity tracker. Boasting an ATM rating of 5 (water resistant down to 50 meters), you can rest assured the watch will be able to endure even the harshest of elements.

The stylish and functional Approach S60 is expected to go on sale sometime in July. You’ll be able to choose between the $399 standard version and more pricey $499 edition which comes with a scratch-resistant ceramic bezel and fancy leather bands.
