VHOOP: the smart hula hoop
Hula hooping is a great and fun way to shed pounds. It torches calories, sculpts your body, and sheds abdominal fat.
We’ve seen connected tennis rackets, baseball bats and even smart soccer balls. So why not a connected hula hoop?
Dubbed VHOOP, the Kickstarter funded device is extremely portable so you have no excuse to skip exercise when you are away. The hoop is actually composed of eight separate pieces which neatly slot into each other. The whole process of putting it together takes no more than two minutes.
You also have the option of adding up to 8 stainless steel weights. They go into designated ports enabling you to increase difficulty. The more weight you add, the more you will strengthen your core muscles.
But the real magic is in the connectivity aspect. The hoop uses a Bluetooth 4.0 transmitter to communicate your activity to the smartphone app.
You get a plethora of data including your workout details, history, leaderboards, challenges and reminders. The sensors can even determine which side of the body is used more often, and advise you to correct your technique.
VHOOP is made of a comfortable silicon foam and is durable and waterproof. Just 90 minutes of charging will keep you hula hooping for up to 15 days.
