This is the third generation of the Tactix series and it closely resembles the Fenix 5X. In fact, apart from the WiFi connectivity of the Tactix Charlie and its night vision mode, the main difference is in design.

The physical body of Garmin’s new timepiece is built to last a lifetime. At 90 grams Tactix Charlie weighs less than the Fenix 5X (98 grams), its case material has a titanium rear cover (Fenix 5x has stainless steel) and it has a scratch-resistant black Diamond-like-carbon-coated bezel (Fenix 5x has a stainless steel bezel).

The watch comes pre-loaded with full-color topographic maps, advanced performance metrics and numerous built-in activities. You can download and store up to 16 GB of map data, including marine charts. The watch will let you create and follow courses as well as mark locations. Additional built-in navigation features include a 3-axis compass, gyroscope and barometric altimeter, as well as GPS and GLONASS.

Water rated down to 100 meters, the tracker works for 12 days on a single charge in smartwatch mode and 20 hours in GPS mode. There is also a power saver mode which you can use to extend battery life.

“Designed for professionals and consumers needing tactical functionality in a wearable form, the Tactix Charlie has everything needed for these operations and everyday life,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin vice president of worldwide sales.

“Building on the popularity of the Tactix Bravo and the Fenix 5X, the new Tactix Charlie blends the best of both wearables to offer tactical and multisport features, enhanced mapping, and wrist-based heart rate in one watch.”

A tactical watch can be a lifesaver out in the woods. Garmin’s latest smartwatch comes with mapping and navigation features that will ensure you return safely home. Tactix Charlie is available on Amazon.
