Golfication X: first AI-powered GPS Rangefinder, Shot Tracker and Swing Analyzer
Golf practice and player development are going through a period of great change. Amateur and professional players alike have started to embrace technology to improve their game and obtain a competitive edge. This includes everything from tiny sensors placed on gloves or clubs that can analyze swings, to wearables that track performance on the course.
A team of engineers from India’s top institutes have recently turned to Indiegogo, to fund their vision of an all-in-one golf wearable. Dubbed Golfication X, it aims to provide you with holistic insights into your game by combining a GPS Rangefinder, a Swing Analyzer, an automatic Shot Tracker and Augmented Reality in one product.

The main sensor fits on a golf glove. It houses an inbuilt GPS, 9-axis Motion Sensor, Bluetooth 4.0 and a powerful TI-microcontroller. Weighing only 20 grams, its very lightweight ensuring you will not notice it when swinging. The system also comes with 14 tags for each of your clubs.
The wearable captures your swing, your shots, and even your intent seamlessly, all in real time. The AI component of the system then provides you with actionable information to help you make better decisions on the course. Best of all, the whole system functions without taps, manual-input or even a smartphone, allowing you to focus on their game.
GPS rangefinder comes with over 18,000 pre-installed golf courses. Eagle eye identifies hazards, and visualizes your shots using your smartphone camera. There is fully automated shot tracking which combines swing analytics (Club Speed, Swing Tempo and Swing Path) and your shot outcomes. You can even set up a game against an AI opponent which simulates professional golfers or your friends.
The main sensor is powered by a 240 mAh Lithium Ion battery that is will run for up to 8 hours, or two golf rounds. Back at home or in the club house you can recharge it via a USB charger.
“We saw many limitations with current stats and technology,” said Anirudh Arun, CEO of Golfication.
“Some solutions track your shots but don’t measure your swing; many provide drive-distances, but fail to maintain your short game stats. Golfication X covers it all – and comes in a slim and stylish form.”
Golfication Labs aims to start shipping its all-in-one solution for golfers by August 2018. With 23 days to go, the project is well on its way to raise the $50,000 needed to fund the project.
