The Twin Smart Strap is for those that love smartwatches, but just can’t stand the thought of leaving their mechanical timepiece behind. An update to their original E-strap, the gizmo features a curved monochrome OLED display where the clasp would normally be. Mind you, it still works to fasten your timepiece, just like any regular clasp.

You get the full range of smarts including basic activity tracking and phone notifications. There is also support for mobile payments so you can ditch your wallet. This works at all compatible payment terminals from VISA and Mastercard. Bluetooth connectivity ensures smooth communication with the Montblanc TWIN companion app.

The thin and lightweight module is made of high quality stainless steel and covered by a curved special glass. The strap is made of a high-quality rubber composite. The whole thing is IP68 water resistant and can run for up to a week on a single charge.

“With the new TWIN Smart Strap Montblanc has further narrowed the gap between the analogue and digital watchmaking worlds,”explains Nicolas Baretzki, Montblanc CEO.

“The idea of a Smart Strap is rooted in the growing desire for digital functionalities to be added to classic timepieces, which are emotional objects with deep history and meaning to their owners. That is why we developed a smart solution that can be attached to most timepieces of any brand. The timepiece remains untouched, while Montblanc TWIN Smart Strap is the innovative companion that elegantly enhances this relationship.”

If you’re looking to upgrade your mechanical timepiece, the Montblanc TWIN Smart Strap is set to land in August 2018. Its expected to retail at around 390 euros. The band will come in four different designs including black calf leather, vintage brown calf leather, black nylon and black & grey striped nylon.
