Its fairly simple to use Garmin’s adaptive training plans. To start off choose between three common 5K goals in Garmin Connect: run, run/walk combination and run with time goal.
You then have the option of deciding between three coaches, each with their own unique approach to training. This includes Jeff Galloway (Olympian and best-selling author), Greg McMillan (physiologist and online running coach) and Amy Parkerson-Mitchell (physical therapist and running expert).
To finalise the plan add details such as fitness level, workout days, and desired completion date. Suggested workouts will be synced to a compatible Garmin watch. You’ll be able to view real advice from pros including running tips, nutrition advice, articles on running form and more.
Progress towards your goal will be visible in Garmin Connect. It doesn’t matter if you are overachieving or underachieving. The plans will adopt based on your performance. If you find you were a bit too ambitious in setting your goal, you can always tweak this along the way.
If you own a watch from the Vivoactive 3 series, Forerunner 645, Forerunner 645 Music and Forerunner 935 the service is accessible through the Training tab. Fenix 5 series compatibility is set to land soon.
