The Italian fashion brand has improved the functionality of its previous generation smartwatch models. The latest timepiece comes with new digital dial designs, a swim-proof (3 ATM) stainless steel case and 1.19-inch AMOLED display.
Under the hood you’ll find the ageing Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100, along with the standard gamut of fitness sensors. This includes a heart-rate sensor and built-in GPS for phone-free training.
There is NFC which means users will be able to make payments using Google Pay. Running Wear OS, you can also take advantage of the Google Assistant to check the weather, start your run, set a reminder and more, just by asking.
As you’d expect, there are a couple of designs to choose from. The stainless steel casing comes in silver, black, and rose gold. Strap options include mono-link bracelets, as well as embossed leather straps and mesh.
There is nothing particularly groundbreaking about this watch although with built-in GPS, heart rate tracking and NFC, it does pack some decent specs. But coming from a fashion company, the watch is more about design and the brand than anything else.
The latest Armani Connected line will be available this week for pre-sale on armani.com, with worldwide availability expected in early September. Prices range from $295-395 depending on the model.
