The Approach CT10 is Garmin’s new fully automated golf tracking system

Garmin has announced a new fully automated golf game tracking system. The Approach CT10 consists of sensors that pair with compatible Garmin golf watches to track every aspect of your game.

Similar to other products we’ve seen on the market, the sensors screw to the end of each club grip. From there, they monitor every shot (including locations, distances and club type) and keep score. The sensors are lightweight so completely unobtrusive to your play.

For real-time information, the gizmo connects with compatible Garmin golf watches. The main novelty for this type of device is that historical stats for each club automatically appear as soon as you take a club out of the bag. You are able to see how far you typically hit with each club which will allow you to make club selection based on real-world performance.

Back at the clubhouse, you can dissect your game further via the accompanying Garmin Golf app. This provides golfers with more detailed information and helps them know what parts of their game need more focus. For example, the app allows you to see how many strokes you gain or lose relative to a baseline, allowing comparison against other players, just like professional golfers. As you’d expect, there is also a social aspect that allows you to connect with golf buddies.

The sensors have a battery life of up to four years. When they run out of juice, simply replace them yourself.

The Approach C10 is available now on Amazon. The full set comes with a pack of 14 sensors, one for each club in your bag. There is also a, more affordable, starter pack. This, however, has only three sensors so needs to rely on the AutoShot feature on a compatible Garmin golf watch to track other shots.

“The inclusion of the Approach CT10 sensors to our golf lineup allows for full game tracking for every stroke and additional statistics for more competitive golfers looking to improve their game,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin vice president of global consumer sales.

“Our club tracking system combined with our revamped Garmin Golf app brings detailed information on individual club swings, so avid golfers can focus on their game, knowing the sensors are tracking every shot.
