Named after iconic locations throughout the Big Apple, the collection comes from this traditional watchmaker founded back in 1885. The outfit raised nearly $200,000 on Kickstarter to fund product development back in 2017. Orders have been sent to backers of the project and the watches are now available to all.
Timepieces in the NYSW collection are meant to truly look like luxury every-day watches. They have an analogue dial and high-end materials including a stainless steel case, Italian leather strap and Swarovski crystal. Just as important, the analog watches come with digital smarts which means no touch screens, plastic bands or limited functionality.
Features on the dial include a calendar, second hand and three sub-dials. The watches keeps tabs on basic activity stats, they offer smartphone notifications via haptic vibration, reminders, timer/chronograph and more. There is also an accompanying smartphone app with a comprehensive fitness dashboard.
Thankfully, this is not something you will be charging every night. The timepiece operates via a rechargeable battery that is good for two weeks on one charge. It is also water resistant down to a depth of 50 meters (5 ATM).
“The market continues to demonstrate a demand for hybrid smartwatches, and following our successful Kickstarter fundraised in 2017, we’re proud to now be shipping our unique line to the masses and offer an affordable and unique looking alternative,” said David Luk, creator of the NYSW collection.
“We’ve partnered with Amazon to ensure that our customers have an accessible platform to purchase our collection, especially as the holiday gifting season approaches.”
Watches in the Manhattan, SoHo and Times Square collection are available now on Amazon and the company’s website.
