CES 2019: Starkey’s new hearing aid doubles as an activity tracker
The world’s first hearing aid with AI is taking healthable technology a massive step further at CES 2019 in Las Vegas.
Starkey Hearing Technologies’ Livio AI already tracks brain and body health and offers in-ear language translation. Now, it has fall detection and alerts, a virtual assistant and heart rate monitoring all in your ear, the most accurate location for tracking brain and body activity.

The new Livio AI includes heart rate measurements. This is in addition to the already cutting-edge technology that allows Livio AI to track brain and body activity in the ear rather than on the wrist. The ear provides more reliable data and Livio AI is the first healthable to use this technological breakthrough to give people an accurate way to track brain and body health.
The multi-purpose device is also a great sounding hearing aid. Integrated sensors allow it to automatically adjust to noisy environments and significantly reduce listening effort. There’s an app-based assistant that can answer questions like, “What’s today’s forecast?” and “How active have I been today?” right in your ear.
“This is such an exciting time to be a part of the hearing industry,” Chief Technology Officer and Executive Vice President of Engineering of Starkey Hearing Technologies, Achin Bhowmik, said.
“We continue to transform the hearing aids with embedded sensors and artificial intelligence – whether it be through integrating Fall Alert, Heart Rate Measurement, Translation or a built-in Virtual Assistant.”
Livio AI is available in the US and Canada and is expanding to more than 20 countries later this year. The device will be available to consumers, and as a free update for current Livio users, by Spring 2019.
