Cardiogram for iPhone adds direct link to Garmin ConnectThe popular Cardiogram for iPhone app has added multi-device support. This includes, for the first time, a direct link to Garmin Connect.

The app is very popular amongst the health-conscious. Cardiogram has recently said that some 100,000 use their software every day out of more than 250,000 people who downloaded it to try it out. The software taps into data from your fitness tracker to help you delve deeper into your biometrics.

Late last year Cardiogram announced support for Garmin smartwatches and fitness trackers. But this required you to sync data from Garmin Connect to Apple Health. The Apple Health app only stores your heart rate every 2 minutes whereas Garmin watches take readings every 15 seconds.

Now the app provides a direct link to Garmin Connect. This means it can tap into this more detailed data and churn out higher resolution, richer heart rate charts. It’s no secret Garmin devices provide some of the most accurate and detailed biometric data.

To link your Garmin Connect account, update your Cardiogram iPhone app and log in again. You will be presented with a choice allowing you to connect with an Apple Watch, Garmin or other device (support for other devices will be added later on).

The other option is to open the profile sidebar in the app and select Garmin under the “Link Your Wearables” section. You will then need to type your Garmin Connect username and password and allow a few minutes for the initial sync. From that point on Cardiogram will automatically sync high-resolution data every time you open Garmin Connect.

“Many users have asked Cardiogram to support Garmin wearables. By directly integrating through the Garmin Health API, Cardiogram has access to the wide array of advanced metrics these devices generate,” Johnson Hsieh, co-founder of Cardiogram said last year.

“Garmin devices are great because they give us high-resolution, accurate data and the higher resolution, the more accurate DeepHeart can become.”
