Mobovi’s new TicWatch GTX will only set you back $60

Mobvoi has announced it has opened pre-orders for the latest addition to its range. This one is called TicWatch GTX and it costs only $60.

The unveiling follows the release of the Ticwatch C2+ in June. The main difference between that one and its predecessor, the C2, is that the memory has been doubled to 1GB of RAM.

But now the company is making its entry into the budget smartwatch space with the TicWatch GTX. It provides an incredibly low price while not skimming on basic fitness tracking functionality and other essentials.

Design and technical specs

Starting with design, you get something that looks very much like the rest of the TicWatch range. This is a round timepiece with a metal chasing that is attached to a 20mm durable thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) band. Everything is IP68 rated for water resistance and Mobvoi says it is okay to use it for swimming.

In fact, the water activity is amongst the 14 sports the watch tracks. Others include running, walking, cycling, rowing, basketball, soccer, rowing, jump rope, yoga and more.

TicWatch GTX has an accelerometer and 24/7 heart rate sensor inside which keep tabs on your health and activity around the clock. This includes Mobvoi’s TicSleep App which measures the quality of your sleep.

There’s no built-in GPS onboard, WiFi connectivity or NFC. The watch communicates with Bluetooth 5.0 with the smartphone app, which allows you to pretty the thing up with personalized watch faces. This includes the option to use your own photos.

The thing will also spit out notifications from your connected smartphone. Other smart functions include music control, stopwatch, timer, weather, torchlight and Find My Phone.

Finally, the all important battery life has not been neglected. The timepiece can go up to a week when the 200mAh battery is fully charged. This extends to 10 days with the Power Saving Mode option.

Availability

All things considered, this is a solid offering that doesn’t skim on the essentials. TicWatch GTX launches globally on September 3rd on Mobvoi’s website. It only costs $59.99 so definitely slots into the budget smartwatch category. Those who pre-order now can get 10% off this price.
