Xiaomi makes Mi Watch Lite with smaller display official

Xiaomi has made Mi Watch Lite official early this morning. It has a smaller 1.4 inch display and 9 day battery life.

We knew the device was coming as it had dropped by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in October. The wearable was previously approved by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and the UL (Demko) authority.

Mi Watch Lite technical specs

Mi Watch Lite is a rebranded model of the Redmi Watch (but with GPS) unveiled in China last month. It is very similar to its big brother that was released last year.

The timepiece has a square 1.41 inch TFT, LCD touchscreen and a single button on the right edge. The important change is that the screen is smaller as compared to the 1.78 inch AMOLED of the original. The pixel resolution of Mi Watch Lite is 320×320, while the pixel density comes in at 323ppi.

The watch has 120 colorful watch faces to choose from, and some of them will let you tailor the information that you see. The device also has auto brightness adjustment to ensure visibility in all conditions.

The health tracking tech under the hood is pretty much the same as before. Mi Watch Lite comes with 24 hour heart rate monitoring, activity and sleep tracking, idle alerts, a barometer, compass and built-in GPS (and GLONASS).

The 6-axis sensor (3-axis accelerometer and 3-axis gyroscope) allows for 11 fitness modes including open and pool swimming with stroke recognition. Other sports include outdoor running, treadmill, outdoor cycling, indoor cycling, walking, trekking, trail run and cricket.

As far as smart functionality, there are calls, texts, and app notifications, music control, find phone, alarms, weather, stop watch, flashlight and timer. No NFC or LTE, though.

The whole thing has a 5 ATM water-resistance rating and a 230 mAH Lithium-ion battery on-board which supports 5W charging. The capacity is much smaller than on its predecessor which packs a 570 mAH battery. Nevertheless, the less power hungry Mi Watch Lite can keep going up to 9 days on a single charge and 10 hours with GPS switched on.

The timepiece weights only 35g with the TPU strap and 21g without. Its dimensions come in at 41mm x 35mm x 10.9mm.

Mi Watch Lite price and availability

Xiaomi has not yet revealed the price of Mi Watch Lite or global availability. We expect its price-tag will come in around the $50 mark. The device will be offered in three watch cases and five straps – Pink, Ivory, Black, Navy Blue, and Olive. You can check it out at mi.com.
