The $2,150 Tag Heuer Super Mario smartwatch has already sold out!
Who knew there were so many Super Mario fans with deep pockets? Just a couple of days following the launch, the $2,150 WearOS watch conjured up by Tag Heuer and Nintendo has already sold out!
We wrote a few days ago about the release. As we suspected, the device is based on Tag Heuer’s Connected smartwatch lineup. The company has recently released a Golf Edition of the same, and there are other iterations specifically made for the UEFA Euro 2020 tournament.

Tag Heuer made the Super Mario watch available on its website on July 15th. Interestingly, this might be the first product of others to come. The Swiss watchmaker has made a long-term agreement with the gaming giant.
TAG Heuer x Super Mario Limited Edition
The first product of this collaboration is the limited-edition Super Mario smartwatch. Only 2,000 pieces were made, each retailing for $2,150. That’s the equivalent of the cost of five Apple Watches! Definitely not something to be purchased on a whim… It is more of a collectors item.
For that you get a revamped version of the Tag Heuer Connected. The main difference is in design.
The new watch features styling and some functionality that mirrors the platform game created by Nintendo based on Mario. The first release of the game was way back in 1985. Since then a greater Mario franchise has been built around this, which includes other video games and media such as film. But the company has remained protective on embracing brand partnerships.
The Tag Heuer Super Mario edition is a great looking timepiece. The new design touches come in the form of four nifty, appropriately themed, watch-faces. These incorporate some retro elements from the 1985 version of Super Mario Bros. with Mario, all in pixels.
To keep you on the move, the watch’s dial becomes “livelier and more animated the more the wearer is active.” There are also little Mario animations that pop up when you approach your fitness goals during the day. You’ll get different ones when you meet 25, 50, 75 and 100 percent of your steps target. Mario will salute you each morning, while other animations feature Super Mario items such as Super Mushroom, Pipe, Super Star and Goal Pole.
All off this comes attached to an appropriately themed red rubber strap (there’s also a black leather version). The letter “M” is etched on the dial, there are red symbols etched into the bezel, and there is Super Mario branding on the underside of the thing. Finally, there’s also a travel case in — you guessed it — Super Mario red.
Other than that, you get the same specs as the $2,000 TAG Heuer Connected. This includes a 1.39-inch OLED touchscreen inside a 45mm diameter case. Underneath is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 3100 chip, built-in GPS, optical heart rate and a 430mAh battery (good for between 6 and 20 hours of life). There’s also 8GB of storage and 1GB of RAM for lag-free performance, along with 5 ATM water-resistance.
The whole thing runs on a skinned version of Wear OS. No word yet on whether it will be compatible with the upcoming OS version Google is building with Samsung and Fitbit.
However, that did not detract Super Mario fans to purchase all stocks of the costly device! And it seems others who were deciding whether to opt for the purchase have missed out. TagHeuer has no plans to restock, at least according to the website. Go to the TagHeur Super Mario page and you’ll get a message to “stay tuned” for next launches.
