Louis Vuitton reveals the flashy Tambour Horizon Light Up smartwatch

Louis Vuitton is preparing to add a new smartwatch to its collection – the Tambour Horizon Light Up. It comes with its own customized operating system and a set of LED lights.

The French fashion-house has been notably quiet over the past year on the smartwatch front. Its best known device in this category is the uber-luxe Tambour Horizon. The last iteration of this is one of the first devices equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 chip. Now we are getting an updated version of the same.

As reported in Hypebeast, the 2022 version is due to launch in a few weeks time. A press release reveals the familiar circular style of its predecessor but with the addition of a set of 24 LED lights around the always-on display. These are located under the Louis Vuitton Monogram ring, in the bezel area. The screen itself is constructed of curved sapphire glass

This latest timepiece comes in a choice between Polished Steel, Matte Brown and Matte Black. You can see them pictured above. Louis Vuitton says the Matte Brown iteration is “a reflection of one of the Maison’s iconic historic codes”.

As far as functionality, the Tambour Horizon Light Up allows for the basics such as activity, sleep and heart rate tracking. You can keep tabs on all of this by swiping right on the display which opens the “My Day” tab. Interestingly, this also provides information on the weather and air quality.

Swiping down from the watch face shows smartphone notifications. Those who travel often will be happy to know they can store their travel plans and boarding passes in the My Travel section. This can be accessed by swiping left.

The software provides a choice of eight distinct watch faces. Or you can customize this by adding your initials to the watch face in a choice of color and typeface.

Unlike some of its other watches which work with WearOS, this one packs a proprietary operating system. It plays nice with Apple, Android and HarmonyOS phones. The watch is powered by the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4100 processor with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage.

If a Louis Vuitton smartwatch sounds appealing, you might want to start collecting your pennies now. The company has not revealed the price of Light Up just yet, but this is a luxury timepiece. The current edition of Connected Tambour Horizon starts at several thousand dollars.

Availability of the Tambour Horizon Light Up starts on January 7th, just in time for CES 2022 in Las Vegas. This is not Louis Vuitton’s first device in the “Light Up” range. Earlier this year the company released a futuristic Horizon Light Up speaker.
