It is worth noting, you must live in the US or South Korea to be accepted. Apart from the obvious – that you have a Galaxy Watch 4 or Watch 4 Classic – the other criteria is that you have a Samsung smartphone. Which means the Beta will not work on non-Samsung smartphones. If you have an Android phone or iPhone – you are out of luck.
Installing the software comes with risks
It should go without saying that installing Beta versions of software opens you to all sorts of risks. There’s no guarantee that your watch will work perfectly and features might be incomplete. Before installing this types of early releases, it is always recommended to back up your data to a computer.
The goal of the Beta is to create a better operating system and user experience. So you can help Samsung by reporting any bugs you come across in the software. That is the whole point of Beta releases.
This is done by choosing Beta feedback > Send feedback in the Samsung members app. You can also send send suggestions to Samsung by going to Beta community > Suggestions.
One UI 4.5 beta Beta change-log
The rollout has now started and users have started downloading the Beta in South Korea (via Tizenhelp). It goes under the R8**XXU1ZVE7 firmware version and is 796MB in size. The One UI 4.5 version is also available in the US. No doubt, Samsung will want to use the next few months perfecting the software ahead of the anticipated Galaxy Watch 5 launch later this year.
The change-log of the software can be seen below. The Beta upgrades watch faces by adding a bunch of settings. Notifications get Agif support while the keyboard gets QWERTY layout support. There is better handwriting, voice input and gesture support. Users can also use dual SIM on their watch and notice a new UI in the contact section.
