Moto Watch 100 gets fall detection
Motorola has announced that Moto Watch 100 is getting fall detection. The budget-friendly timepiece was revealed about a year ago. It offers many of the features found on more expensive smartwatches.
The news lands just ahead of CES 2023. Motorola is also planning to demo the Moto Buds 600 ANC as its latest offering at the tech gathering in Las Vegas. No word yet on Moto Watch 70, 150 and 200. All three of these devices have appeared in a retailer listing in mid-November. Don’t be surprised if some or all of those see the light of day in early January.
Moto Watch 100 gets fall detection
The $99 Moto Watch 100 has a 1.3-inch LCD display and is water-resistant down to 50 meters. It also has built-in GPS, allowing you to track your location and routes while on the go.
The standout features of the Moto Watch 100 are its fitness tracking capabilities. It has a range of sensors for tracking activities such as steps, distance, and heart rate. It also has 26 different sports modes, including running, cycling, and swimming, making it a good choice for people with an active lifestyle.

In addition to fitness tracking, the Moto Watch 100 can also receive notifications from your smartphone, such as incoming calls, texts, and social media updates. No microphone or speaker, though, so you can’t make and receive calls directly from your watch.
Targeting the market for seniors
This latest software update slaps on fall detection. The company says this makes Moto 100 the cheapest watch on the market with fall detection functionality.
The feature is designed specifically with seniors in mind. Statistics show that falls are the leading cause of injury for seniors at home. The aim her is to make the Moto Watch 100 a valuable tool for tracking the activity and wellbeing of seniors and for facilitating real-time communication with their family members.
It’s worth noting, unlike its predecessors Moto Watch 100 does not utilize Google’s Wear OS. Instead, it features a proprietary operating system called Moto Watch OS, which is designed specifically for health and fitness tracking and is compatible with Android 5.0 and above.
One advantage of this is that the Moto Watch 100 has a longer battery life than many Wear OS watches, thanks to its 355 mAh battery, which can last for up to two weeks on a single charge. However, it is important to note that the Moto Watch 100 is not a Wear OS device.
Overall, the Moto Watch 100 is a budget-friendly smartwatch that offers a range of features for tracking your fitness and staying connected on the go. It is a good choice for people looking for a versatile and affordable smartwatch.
