Apple Watch challenge alert: Three opportunities to get moving in February

February is Black History Month and Apple will be offering a Unity Challenge badge to mark the occasion. Other incentives to get active in February include the Heart Month Challenge on Valentines Day and a Lunar Month challenge.

Black History Month, also known as African-American History Month, is an annual commemoration of the ongoing struggle for racial justice. So far, the United States and Canada have given it official recognition. Other countries, including the United Kingdom, Ireland, and the Netherlands, recognise it as well.

The goal is to recognise and honour African Americans’ contributions and accomplishments throughout history. It is a time for people to reflect on the black community’s struggles and triumphs, as well as to educate others about the rich and diverse history of black people.

Apple is hosting the Apple Watch Unity Challenge for the third year in a row. Users should begin receiving notifications on what they need to do to win a medal in the Activity app very soon. Additional prizes will be in the form of Messages and FaceTime stickers.

Basically, the task consists of closing the move ring seven days in a row during the month February. That sounds easier than it actually is as you cannot miss a day during that week.

Let’s come together to honor Black history. Earn this Unity award by closing your Move ring for seven days in a row during February.

As always, successfully completing the task will earn a virtual trophy for your virtual mantelpiece, this time in the form of the Unity Challenge theme. Additionally, Apple will commemorate Black History Month with exclusive content and curated launches. This includes a Unity Apple Watch Sport Loop, alongside a new matching watch face, an iPhone wallpaper, appropriately themed TV and film collections and more.

Two more challenges in February

The next challenge you will be able to land in February is for Heart Month. A bit easier to complete than the Unity Challenge, it will only require you to close your Exercise ring on Valentines Day.

Show your heart some love this Valentine’s Day. Close your Exercise ring on February 14 to get this award.

The rules for the Heart Month challenge are a bit different each year. In 2022, you were required to put in thirty minutes of exercise on February 14th. In 2021, you had to put in sixty minutes of exercise on the big day.

The final challenge to land in February has actually already started. It is the Lunar New Year Challenge. This one also shouldn’t be too difficult the complete. The challenge requires users to put in any 20 minute workout between January 22nd and February 5th.

Here’s how Apple describes it.

Let’s get moving and celebrate the Year of the Rabbit. Do any workout for at least 20 minutes between January 22 and February 5 to get this award. Record your workout with any app that adds workouts to Health.

Lots of people like Apple Watch challenges as they help with motivation, fitness, and social engagement. They encourage users to set and achieve fitness goals while also tracking their progress. And let’s not forget the social aspect. The challenges allow users to connect with one another, making the workouts more enjoyable.
