Revolutionising fitness training: Amazfit watches get AI coaching

The Amazfit Falcon and T-Rex Ultra watches are getting an innovative new feature that elevates fitness training by harnessing the power of artificial intelligence (AI). This cutting-edge technology is being integrated into Zepp Coach, a self-developed platform that offers customised training guidance tailored to each user’s needs.

Currently, the AI coaching feature is exclusive to the Amazfit Falcon and T-Rex Ultra watches. These are the only two with access to Zepp Coach. It remains uncertain whether other Amazfit devices will gain access to this capability through firmware updates.

The future of wearable technology: AI coaching benefits

It’s a no-brainer. The incorporation of AI into health and fitness coaching represents the future of wearable technology. By utilizing AI to analyze data gathered from sensors on wearable devices, smartwatches and fitness bands can provide users with more personalized guidance.

AI Zepp Coach

Introduced last year, the Amazfit watches’ Zepp Coach feature offers customised workout recommendations. These are based on a user’s individual fitness level, training history, and fatigue.

The addition of the AI-powered element allows for two-way conversations using natural language. Something like this should make the coaching experience more personal and effective. Since the recommendations are tailored to the user’s unique needs, they are more likely to see positive results from their training.

The company posted a demo video on Linkedin. It shows users utilising the Zepp App to ask questions such as: “which exercises can help me improve my deadlift?”, “do you have any advice for increasing my vo2max?”, “what type of cardio is most efficient at burning fat?” and more. The answer is typed out in quite a bit of detail on the smartphone screen for them.

If you’d like to try the feature for yourself, you can register to become a Beta tester on the following link. The requirement is that you have one of the two compatible Amazfit watches. No word yet on when the AI coaching feature will hit wider public release.

Embracing the AI-driven future

As wearable technology continues to advance, we can anticipate the development of more sophisticated coaching features powered by AI. Zepp Health seems to be ahead of the curve here, as demonstrated by their recent announcement of integrating ChatGPT, an AI model developed by OpenAI, into their smartwatch platform.

ChatGPT is an advanced language model that produces human-like responses to text-based inputs using natural language processing. Trained on an extensive dataset from various text sources, ChatGPT is one of the most sophisticated language models currently available. Presumably, AI coaching taps into this language model.

The health and fitness industry is only beginning to explore the potential of AI integration into activity tracking platforms. As technology progresses, we can expect the emergence of more groundbreaking applications designed to help individuals achieve their health and fitness goals. Poised to revolutionize the way we approach wellness, AI is on the verge of becoming an indispensable part of our daily lives like never before.
