Amazfit T-Rex 2 update: improved navigation & heart rate recovery

Zepp Health has released a new firmware refresh for its rugged Amazfit T-Rex 2 smartwatch. It comes with a slew of improvements and new features to improve the user experience.

The Amazfit T-Rex 2 made its debut approximately a year ago. It boasts a larger 1.39-inch display, extended battery life, dual-band five satellite positioning, and the same ultra-durable construction as its predecessor. As a more budget-friendly alternative to premium Garmin devices, this timepiece is definitely worth considering. Particularly for those who frequently engage in outdoor activities and require a rugged companion to withstand harsh environments.

Firmware version 9.38.1.5

The 10.81MB update includes route navigation optimisations, heart rate recovery measurements, and more. The software has already been released in several regions. However, as with previous updates, it is being deployed gradually to ensure a smooth user experience.

To take advantage of the enhanced features and optimisations, be sure to update your Amazfit T-Rex 2 smartwatch. Just connect the device to its companion app, and the smartphone software will let you know if the latest firmware update is available in your region.

Navigation enhancements

To start with, the update adds an altitude overview page for route navigation. This feature provides users with a visual representation of elevation changes throughout their workout. That is especially useful for those who engage in outdoor activities such as hiking or trail running, where elevation tracking is important.

In addition to the altitude overview, the firmware update now includes automatic slope section analysis and generation when the route elevation changes significantly. All of this will help users understand the terrain they’re traversing, allowing them to better plan their workouts and adjust their pace accordingly.

Heart rate recovery

The update also improves the heart rate measurement experience by introducing post-workout recovery heart rate measurements. The smartwatch will automatically measure the user’s heart rate for three minutes after the end of their workout with this new feature. This information is available in the app’s workout record. It will help users to track their recovery progress and optimise their training routines.

Water temperature data, better accuracy of open water swimming distances & more

The latest Amazfit T-Rex 2 firmware update also adds functionality for open water swimmers by supporting temperature (water temperature) data items. Open Water Swimming > Settings > More > Data Page > Temperature Class is now where users can find this information. This new feature will assist swimmers in monitoring water temperature and adjusting their swimming strategies as needed.

Furthermore, the update improves the accuracy of open water swimming distances, ensuring that users receive the most accurate data possible. It also improves the accuracy of heart rate measurement while running and walking, allowing users to track their performance more accurately.

Finally, the firmware update addresses other known issues, which should make the overall user experience smoother and more efficient. With these enhancements and new features, the Amazfit T-Rex 2 smartwatch remains a dependable and versatile fitness companion for a variety of outdoor and indoor activities.

  • The last update brought a failure in the distance recording in the Open swimming function. The GPS registers correctly, but the distance covered shown when completing the exercise is wrong.
