Polar Ignite 3 Titanium throws skin temperature tracking into the mix
Polar Electro has unveiled the cutting-edge Ignite 3 Titanium, an advanced fitness and wellness smartwatch brimming with augmented capabilities. In addition to a revamped aesthetic, the standout feature of this gadget is its pioneering skin temperature sensor, which marks a debut for Polar.
This souped-up iteration of the Polar Ignite 3 from the previous year is packed with a cornucopia of novel features to assist in workout planning and health tracking. Like its predecessor, the smartwatch boasts an extensive array of over 150 sports profiles. It includes a superior Dual Frequency GPS, and a host of cherished fitness functions. Adorned with a sturdy yet featherlight titanium bezel, the watch presents wearers with an option to choose between the sleek silicone or the tough-luxe bronze leather wristbands.
“The Polar Ignite 3 Titanium continues on the Red Dot Award-winning design of its predecessor, while raising the bar further with ultra-premium materials and new guidance features,” said Sander Werring, CEO of Polar Electro.
New features
One of the pivotal features of the new Polar Ignite 3 Titanium is the enhanced guidance for better rest. SleepWise, previously introduced in the Polar Ignite 3, is now available on the device’s dashboard and aids daytime alertness.
An innovative Nightly Skin Temperature Sensing feature makes its debut in the Polar lineup through the Ignite 3 Titanium. This tracks skin temperature throughout sleep and compares it to a 28-day average. The metric will grant users a new perspective into their health. Particularly beneficial for women, this temperature data can be utilised to gain a deeper understanding of the different phases of their menstrual cycle.
Skin temperature tracking has been available on the likes of Fitbit, Whoop and some other brands for a while now. So it is good to see it included in a Polar watch.
Additionally, there is a Work-Rest Guide. It evaluates your heart rate during different phases of training sessions. You will essentially get advice on the length of rest between sets for optimal impact. This should make it useful for resistance training and high-energy workouts.
As you’d expect, Polar Ignite 3 Titanium also boasts a stunning Nordic design. It showcases a tough yet sensitive Gorilla Glass 3.0 lens, a vivid AMOLED touchscreen display, along with a 100% titanium bezel that adds a touch of elegance. The device’s battery life stands impressive. Users can expect up to 5 days of usage from a single charge. This is coupled with a high-speed processor that is twice as fast as the Polar Ignite 1 and 2.
Availability, price
With a starting price of 369,90€/$369.90 on the manufacturer’s website, the Polar Ignite 3 Titanium is now available for purchase. Its price is about $70 more than the vanilla Ignite 3 version.
The good news is that the above mentioned features and improvements is being made available to owners of Polar Ignite 3 watches via a 2.0.14 software update. And yes, this does include the temperature function. This has already started rolling out. At least for now, the tempearature feature appears to be exclusive to the Ignite 3 range.
