In this article, we dive deep into the specific features and nuances of these three models. Should you upgrade if you have one of the older devices. Is the new model worth the price increase? Read on to find out.

You can check out all three of these devices on Amazfit ‘s website or Amazon.

Amazfit Bip 5 vs Bip 3 Pro vs Bip 3: Look & feel

The Amazfit Bip 5, Bip 3 Pro, and Bip 3 bring a distinct charm to the table with their elegant, modern design and a single physical button. Each one features a lightweight, square-ish plastic body that ensures durability without adding any unnecessary heft. The silicone straps contribute to the comfort and wearability, making them suitable for both everyday use and during rigorous activities.

The Bip 5, however, takes the lead in terms of size. Its dimensions are slightly larger at 45.94 x 38.09 x 11.2 mm compared to the 44.12 x 36.49 x 9.65 mm dimensions of the Bip 3 Pro and Bip 3. While this may not sound like a significant difference, the extra space does contribute to a more immersive viewing experience. The Bip 5’s display measures 1.91 inches, a noticeable increase from the 1.69 inches found on the other two models.

To complement this larger size, the Bip 5 boasts a display resolution of 320 x 380 pixels, delivering sharper, crisper images than the 240 x 280 pixels of the Bip 3 Pro and Bip 3. This higher resolution makes text easier to read and graphics more detailed, enhancing the overall user experience.

What is interesting is that despite the larger size, Bip 5 is actually the lightest of the three. Mind you, whichever option you choose it will not weigh down your wrist.

When it comes to color options, the Bip 5 and Bip 3 Pro are offered in Soft Black, Cream White, and Pastel Pink. These colors give users the opportunity to choose a variant that best suits their personal style. The Bip 3, on the other hand, introduces a Blue variant alongside the Black and Pink options, providing a fresh alternative for users looking for a different aesthetic.

Overall, while all three models are stylish in their own right. The Amazfit Bip 5 stands out from the three with its slightly larger body and larger display.

Water resistance

The one area where Bip 3 devices excel is water-proofing. With a water-resistance level of 5 ATM, they are more conducive for activities such as swimming than the IP68 rated Bip 5. It is a bit strange that the water-resistance level has been downgraded on the newest device. The documentation actually states that Bip 5 is only splash proof. So you need to remove it when taking a shower, swimming or entering a sauna.

On the sensor front, there is very little to separate these watches. They all come with a 3-axis accelerometer, gyroscope and the BioTracker PPG (supports SpO2) module. Which means the basic activity stats they churn out are largely the same.

But only the Bip 5 and Bip 3 Pro support GPS and additional satellite systems like GALILEO, GLONASS, and Beidou, aiding in more accurate tracking. Bip 3, on the other hand, needs to be linked up to the satellite system on your smartphone if you want to track more detailed outdoor exercise stats. So that’s something to consider. It is also the only difference between Bip 3 Pro and Bip 3.

Battery life

Despite its larger size, the Bip 5 holds up well a compared to its siblings in terms of battery life. It conjures up to 10 days of typical usage and a whopping 26 days in battery saver mode, while the Bip 3 and Bip 3 Pro provide up to 14 days with normal use. For heavy users, the Bip 5 can last up to 5 days.

Amazfit Bip 5 vs Bip 3 Pro vs Bip 3: Functionality

Health and sports tracking

When it comes to functionality, the Amazfit Bip 5 proves to be a powerhouse in a compact package. Building on the features provided by the Bip 3 Pro and Bip 3, it brings a wider array of sports modes and additional capabilities that enhance user experience.

Sporting a notable leap from the 60+ sports modes offered by the Bip 3 Pro and Bip 3, the Bip 5 supports 120+ sports modes. This significant improvement means users have access to twice the number of fitness tracking options, offering a more diverse range of data capture for numerous physical activities. Of course, the one omission on the Bip 5 is swimming.

Those serious about running will be interested in the advanced performance metrics. Bip 5 offers access to a bunch of them including sports data broadcast, Virtual Pacer, Workout Status, Training Effect, Training Load, Vo2 Max and more. This makes it more conducive for those serious about running.

Like its predecessors, the Bip 5 also includes essential health and activity tracking features such as step count, distance measurement, calorie tracking, and sleep monitoring. It also supports stress level and blood oxygen level tracking, along with PAI and menstrual tracking, keeping you informed about key health indicators. Plus on Bip 5 you get smart alerts for abnormally high or low heart rates, abnormally low SpO2 levels and high stress levels. That’s quite a comprehensive list.

The one omission on all of these watches are floors climbed. That’s because none of them have an altimeter which is necessary for this type of metric.

Smart features

Moving quickly on, the Bip 5 also excels in the connectivity department. With BT5.2/BLE, it offers faster, more stable connections than the Bip 3 Pro and Bip 3, both of which operate on BT5.0/BLE. This upgraded connectivity enhances the experience of using smart features such as smartphone notifications and music controls, ensuring smoother operations and fewer interruptions.

On that topic, Bip 5 includes the Amazon Alexa online voice assistant as well as Bluetooth call compatibility. To support this, the device packs a microphone and speaker.

The latest addition to the range is also the only one to support Zepp OS 2.0. The other ones are on the first generation of the operating system. Zepp OS 2.0 comes with a more expansive library of apps and games. With more than 70 pre-installed applications on Bip 5 and a selection of 30 mini-games, users are provided with a wide array of tools.

Amazfit Bip 5 vs Bip 3 Pro vs Bip 3: The bottom line

The Amazfit Bip 5 offers several key improvements over the Bip 3 Pro and Bip 3 that could make it worth the upgrade for some users. One of the most noticeable changes is its larger size, coupled with a higher display resolution, which work in tandem to elevate the viewing experience.

In addition, the Bip 5 brings a plethora of new features to the table, including a doubling of the sports modes offered, sophisticated running analytics, superior connectivity, and smart health alerts. These enhancements collectively contribute to a more holistic fitness tracking solution and an enriched user experience. To top it all off, the Bip 5 comes equipped with the latest version of Zepp’s operating system, delivering a smoother, more efficient performance and access to Alexa and a wider range of apps and games.

However, it’s worth mentioning that the Bip 5 does have a few small downsides when we look at the older models. For example, it isn’t as good at resisting water so you can’t actually swim with it. Also the battery doesn’t last as long, even though it’s still pretty good. If these factors are critical to your needs, or if you have a limited budget, you might still be better off with the Bip 3 Pro or Bip 3.

You can pick up Bip 5 for $89.99 on Amazfit ‘s website (check price on Amazon). Bip 3 Pro sells for $70 while the non-pro version which lacks built-in GPS goes for $10 less.

  • Does Bip 5 offer continuous SpO2 monitoring while sleeping? I think Bip 3 can do this only if you press a button, but I am unsure. Can you confirm?
