Motorola expands wearable lineup with the Moto Watch 40
Motorola has unveiled the Moto Watch 40, a new addition to its smartwatch lineup. Positioned as a compact and budget-friendly option, it complements Motorola’s 2023 releases.
A closer look at the Moto Watch 40
As first spotted by GSMArena, the device has now added to the company’s website. The Moto Watch 40 is a slightly more compact version of its predecessors, and comes with a curved 1.57-inch LCD display that offers over 85 watch face options for personalization. Encased in zinc alloy and featuring an interchangeable silicone strap, the watch is IP67 rated, ensuring durability and resistance to dust and water.
Running on Moto Watch OS, it supports notifications, heart rate and SpO2 tracking, sleep and stress monitoring, and integrates with Google Fit for a comprehensive health management experience. There’s no built-in GPS, but you can connect to your smartphone for a satellite signal.
A notable feature of the device is its 240mAh battery. This promises up to 10 days of usage on a single charge, with fast charging capability that takes just 25 minutes for a full recharge. Such excellent battery life is largely a result of its lightweight operating system.

Building on a legacy
The release of the Moto Watch 40 follows the successful launch of the Moto Watch 70 and Moto Watch 200 in May 2023. The Moto Watch 200, with its premium features such as a 1.78-inch AMOLED display, heart rate and SpO2 monitoring, and up to 14 days of battery life, catered to users looking for a high-end smartwatch experience at an affordable price point of around $100. Meanwhile, the Moto Watch 70 offered a budget-friendly alternative at $70, with a simpler design and essential fitness tracking capabilities.
In November 2022 we saw the debut of Moto Watch 150. But that one may have been discontinued as it does not appear on the company’s website any more. Prior to that we had the Moto Watch 100. Released in 2021, this is another device with a $100 price point. It’s clear the company is slowly expanding its range.
