I tested the Mobvoi TicWatch 5 Pro Enduro’s new snoring detection feature. Here’s how it works, how well it tracked my snoring (which I didn’t even know I did!), and what the detailed data reveals about sleep.
The TicWatch Pro 5 Enduro is Mobvoi’s latest smartwatch. It is packed with health and fitness features designed to withstand the elements. I’m currently finalising a comprehensive review, where I’ll explore its battery life, performance and overall user experience. So keep an eye out for that. But for now, let’s focus on this unexpected sleep-tracking revelation. It is one of the new features the device brings.
Reducing snoring isn’t just about peace and quiet for your bed partner. Habitual snoring can signal underlying health issues like sleep apnea, which can lead to serious complications if left untreated. Addressing snoring through lifestyle changes like weight loss, avoiding alcohol before bed, or altering sleep positions can significantly improve sleep quality and overall health. But the first step is knowing whether or not you snore.
How the TicWatch 5 Pro Enduro snoring feature works
Unlike the watch’s automatic sleep tracking, snoring detection requires a bit more effort. Before bed, you need to manually start a sleep tracking session from the Mobvoi smartphone app. This is because your smartphone’s microphone will be the snoring sensor, so you’ll need to keep it close to your bed throughout the night. When you wake up in the morning, simply end the tracking session in the app.
I was skeptical at first, especially since I didn’t think I snored. So didn’t expect much in terms of results. Imagine my shock when the app presented me with a comprehensive snoring report! I didn’t believe it until I played back the recorded sounds – yep, that was definitely me snoring towards the end of my sleep session.
The data you get is astonishingly detailed. Each snore is time-stamped and available for playback, so you can hear exactly when and how often you snored. You’ll see the total duration of your snoring, average decibels, and even the loudest and quietest moments. The app also provides visual representations of snoring frequency and intensity throughout the night, making it easy to see patterns and trends. And its all correlated with your normal sleep stats.
Here are some screenshots from the app.
Overall impressions
The TicWatch 5 Pro Enduro’s snoring detection feature has pleasantly surprised me with its effectiveness. It has revealed unknown aspects of my sleep, prompting me to consider adjustments to my sleep routine and environment. While I wish it was automatic and watch-based, I see this as a feature I’ll use from time to time to monitor and potentially improve my sleep quality.

Sounds pretty cool. I wonder if other companies, like Garmin could implement this too. It doesn’t seem to require much in terms of hardware…only software and functionality in the mobile app.
Yea, I really like the feature. Only wish it could work from the watch itself rather than the phone.
