Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 9: July 19 launch to unveil next-gen fitness tracker
Xiaomi fans, mark your calendars! The highly anticipated Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 9 is scheduled to make its debut on July 19th at 7 PM during Lei Jun’s annual speech. A teaser was released confirming the look of the new band and the launch event.
Xiaomi Smart Band 9: Design, battery life, connectivity
Nothing was revealed about the actual specs, but we can go by previous leaks. The Smart Band 9 is expected to maintain a similar aesthetic to its predecessor, the Smart Band 8, offering a variety of colors and wristband options.
Rumors suggest that the new model will retain the 1.62-inch AMOLED display with a 192 × 490 pixel resolution (326 ppi). However, a significant upgrade may come in the form of brightness, with leaks hinting at a maximum of 1200 nits – double that of the Smart Band 8. This enhancement could greatly improve visibility in bright outdoor conditions.
Reports indicate that the Smart Band 9 might house a more robust 233 mAh lithium-polymer battery, representing a 23% increase in capacity compared to the previous model. This upgrade could potentially extend battery life to up to 21 days under normal use or 9 days with the Always on Display feature activated. Charging is rumored to be efficient, with a full charge taking approximately one hour.

In terms of connectivity, the Smart Band 9 is expected to feature Bluetooth 5.4, an upgrade from the Smart Band 8’s Bluetooth 5.1. This advancement should bring improvements in performance, security, and energy efficiency.
The Smart Band 9 is expected to maintain the 5 ATM water resistance rating, making it suitable for swimming. Haptic feedback may also see an upgrade, with reports of a modernized linear motor offering 20 distinct vibration modes for more nuanced notifications and alarms.
Xiaomi Smart Band 9: Health and fitness features
It is anticipated that the new model will build upon the health and fitness strengths of its predecessor. The Smart Band 8 boasted a three-axis acceleration sensor and three-axis gyroscope for motion tracking, and rumors suggest the Band 9 might feature enhanced heart rate and blood oxygen sensors with 10% improved accuracy. So no new sensors, but better accuracy.
Sleep tracking is another area that may see significant improvements, with reports hinting at more detailed sleep data and expert advice for improving sleep quality. Users can likely expect support for over 150 sport modes, and there are whispers of ten built-in running courses that can be initiated directly from the device.
As the July 19th launch date approaches, we are eagerly awaiting official confirmation of these features and the possibility of unexpected surprises. Not too long to go now.
