Zepp Health blends past & present with Amazfit GTR 4 New

Amazfit India has teased the launch of the Amazfit GTR 4 New, a refreshed version of their popular GTR 4 smartwatch. This update brings several design changes and feature improvements while maintaining the core functionality that made its predecessor a success. However, there are some oddities.

One of these is that the GTR 4 New features a design reminiscent of the GTR 3, with a rounded metallic frame. Notable changes include a slimmer stainless steel navigation crown and a more prominent round lower button. The display has been slightly enlarged to 1.45 inches, up from the original GTR 4’s 1.43-inch screen. This boasts an increased screen-to-body ratio of 70.6%.

Strangely enough, the Amazfit India page states the GTR 4 New will run on ZeppOS 2.0. This is puzzling, given that the original GTR 4 is currently receiving updates to ZeppOS 3.5. It’s unclear whether this is a typo or if the new model will indeed use an older version of the operating system.

The smartwatch is expected to retain many of the features found in the original GTR 4, including comprehensive fitness tracking capabilities, GPS functionality, and health monitoring tools. However, specific details about any new or improved features are yet to be confirmed.

The introduction of the GTR 4 New comes at an interesting time for Amazfit. The original GTR 4 has already been superseded by the more advanced Amazfit Balance in the company’s lineup. This release raises questions about the future of the GTR line, particularly whether we’ll see a GTR 5 in the coming years. Probably not.

Zepp Health has announced that the GTR 4 New Version will launch in India at a discounted price of Rs. 19,999 (approximately $240), with an expected retail price of Rs. 23,999 (around $290). As of now, there’s no information about availability in other markets such as North America or Europe.

We should get more news from the company in the coming week. They will not be attending IFA in Berlin but have scheduled an event for September 6th.
