New details emerge about upcoming Xiaomi Watch S4
As Xiaomi gears up for its next major product event, anticipation is building around the company’s next smartwatch offering. And it seems this may be Watch S4, a successor to last year’s Watch S3. Recent certification documents identify a device with the model number M2424W1, supporting 4G/LTE connectivity, which is believed to be the new Watch S4.
As noted in my hands-on review, the Watch S3 impresses with its innovative modular design featuring interchangeable bezels and extensive customization options. I found the device strikes an impressive balance between style and functionality. While not positioning itself as a full-fledged smartwatch, it excells as a capable fitness tracker with premium build quality and reliable performance metrics.
But now we are getting its successor.
Xiaomi Watch S4: what we know so far
As per the MIIT certification for the device, the Watch S4 is expected to retain eSIM-based connectivity. Going by moniker M2424W1, it looks like the device will potentially move away from some design elements that defined its predecessor.
Unlike the Watch S3 Sport variant, the new model may not incorporate flexible bands or Suunto optimizations. However, it’s expected to maintain the round face design and run on Xiaomi’s proprietary HyperOS rather than adopting Wear OS. The upcoming device is rumored to support fast 10W charging, suggesting improved battery life management.
No word yet whether it will retain the removable bezel part. We certainly hope that it will, as it is what defines its predecessor.
Xiaomi may, quite possibly, present the Watch S4 alongside an array of other products, including new flagship smartphones in the Xiaomi 15 series, tablets, and audio peripherals. The launch event is anticipated to take place by the end of October 2024.
