Mobvoi’s new TicWatch Atlas combines fall detection with tough design
Mobvoi has launched, today, its latest creation, the TicWatch Atlas. This new smartwatch is designed to cater to outdoor lovers, combining a rugged design with some interesting features.
The timepiece boasts a sand-blasted stainless steel construction, aiming to withstand the rigours of extreme environments. The company says its sapphire crystal display provides resistance against dust, water, and impacts, making it suitable for activities ranging from rock climbing to cycling in inclement weather.
Of course you also get some software additions as compared to the rest of the range. One of these is the Heat Map tracking feature. This function allows users to visualize their most active locations, providing insights into duration, distance, and calories burned during their activities. Useful, for example, if you are into sports such as soccer, football, basketball, tennis, frisby and more.
Another new feature is Fall Detection, which uses sensors and AI to automatically trigger SOS responses in case of a fall. In that case the watch dials your emergency contact for you and sends them info about your location.

Additionally, the device introduces enhanced TicMotion health monitoring, displaying real-time statistics such as heart rate, calories burned, and VO2 max on its Ultra-low-power Display. This feature activates even before a workout begins, offering users immediate access to their health metrics, while they are warming up.
Of course you get all the standard features found on its predecessors, such as 24/7 heart rate monitoring, SpO2 tracking, sleep analysis with snore detection, and stress management tools. The Ultra-low-power Display ensures that essential stats remain accessible even in battery-saving modes, while the rotating crown is there to make scrolling through menus easier.
It’s worth noting that Mobvoi has recently upgraded its TicWatch Pro 5 range to Wear OS 4. The TicWatch Atlas runs that version of the operating system out of the box.

Battery life has long been a great selling point of the TicWatch series, and Atlas continues in this fashion. It conjures up to 90 hours of use in Smart Mode and extending to 45 days in Essential Mode. You will struggle to find another wear OS watch with that sort of battery life.

Compatible with Android devices, the TicWatch Atlas is now available for purchase on Mobvoi.com and Amazon, priced at $349.99. You can choose between black and silver finishes.
Here are the technical specs.

After trying out the TicWatch Pro 5 Enduro, I can see the Atlas takes things up a notch. It keeps the good stuff – the dual display and comfy design – while toughening up and adding neat features like Heat Map tracking and Fall Detection. With great battery life and stronger outdoor performance, the TicWatch Atlas seems like a solid pick for anyone who needs a watch that can keep up on rough trails and long adventures.
