Zepp Health’s new app brings a cleaner look & Exertion metric
Zepp Health has rolled out a fresh redesign of its mobile app after a month of testing, focusing mostly on the app’s interface. With a sharper, more streamlined appearance, the updated look seems to resonate with many users, though not all responses have been positive. A notable change is also a new Exertion metric.
The refreshed design prioritizes ease of use. Many who felt the former app had become too cluttered might appreciate the cleaner layout. The app still includes all the familiar metrics and data that Amazfit users rely on. However, everything has been rearranged.
As someone who uses the Amazfit Helio ring and the T-Rex 3 watch, I installed it this morning. The installation process was seamless. It’s just a matter of updating the app in the Google Play Store or on your iPhone. So there is nothing to install on the watch that you are using as it is not a firmware update. And all the data that was sitting in your app before, will be there after the update.
New Exertion metric
Amongst the small but noteworthy changes is the introduction of an Exertion metric. It aims to provide insights into a user’s overall energy output. Calculated primarily based on heart rate data throughout the day, this feature offers a summary of how much strain the body has undergone.
One frequently mentioned issue on social media has been the nap tracking feature, which some users have noted appears to have glitches in the latest update. Hopefully Zepp Health will release a patch in the near future to address this. Although I personally have not experienced this issue.

It seems to me that the app’s design closely mirrors what can be found on Whoop devices. A focus on two sides of the equation – rest and recovery versus exertion. The one thing the app is missing at the moment – and that can be found in the Whoop app is a recommendation on when to go to bed and how long to sleep in order to recover. Don’t be surprised if Zepp Health adds this in the near future.
In any case, looking though the social media posts I think it is a fair assessment to say that most users are complimentary about the update. If you are not a fan – the bad news is that there is no going back. You do need to update because if you don’t – in time you will miss out on some functionality. Use it a bit – in a while you may get used to it.
