Circular Ring 2 surfaces through customer support channels

French-based Circular XYZ has unofficially revealed details about its upcoming smart ring through customer support communications. The company is offering the unannounced Circular Ring 2 as a replacement option to users experiencing issues with their current devices.

According a support emails shared by customers on Reddit, the new device will be priced at $380 and is expected to launch in approximately three months. Which means we are looking at February or March. The company is offering affected customers a substantial 73% discount as compensation for their current device issues, positioning this as an exclusive upgrade opportunity.

The support communication suggests significant hardware improvements, including advanced sensors and what the company describes as “ultra durable premium materials.” While specific technical details remain under wraps, Circular emphasizes enhanced Bluetooth connectivity and improved health tracking in their messaging to customers.

The last device released by the outfit is the Circular Ring Slim, which launched in late 2023. The Slim model has a remarkably thin 2.2mm profile and lightweight 2-gram design, featuring unique capabilities such as haptic navigation and alerts – a rare feature in the smart ring segment. However, the reviews of the device have not been stellar.

The Slim model works in conjunction with Kira+, the company’s AI wellness assistant, monitors seven biometrics and 142 derived markers. It includes a three-axis accelerometer and PPG sensors for health tracking, including sleep quality and circadian rhythm monitoring.

While Circular has not officially announced the Ring 2, their approach of revealing it through customer support channels is unusual. The company’s journey in the wearable tech space began through Kickstarter in 2020 with their original Circular Ring. Despite initial delays, they delivered on their crowdfunding promises and have since transitioned to traditional retail channels.

The emergence of the Ring 2 aligns with typical product development cycles in the wearable technology sector. The support email indicates the device has been in development for two years, suggesting work began while the Slim was still in its early stages. The price point of $380 for the Ring 2 marks an increase from the Slim’s price of $300, suggesting there will be significant upgrades.
