Xiaomi expands wearable lineup with Smart Band 9 Active

Xiaomi has quietly introduced its latest fitness tracker, the Smart Band 9 Active. The device brings some slight upgrades over last year’s version, but nothing groundbreaking. This completes Xiaomi’s 2024 fitness band line-up with Active being the budget variant of the vanilla version and Band 9 Pro.

As far as what’s new – the most notable upgrade comes in battery performance. Where the previous model offered around 14 days of battery life, the Smart Band 9 Active now promises an impressive 18 days between charges, thanks to a battery capacity increase from 210 mAh to 300 mAh. This extension could prove attractive for users seeking a low-maintenance wearable device.

The device retains a 1.47-inch TFT display with a 60Hz refresh rate. It continues to offer comprehensive health and lifestyle tracking, including heart rate monitoring, blood oxygen level tracking, sleep analysis, and workout tracking. Additional features persist, such as calendar access, weather forecasts, and music controls. The 5 ATM water resistance rating remains unchanged.

A subtle technical upgrade includes Bluetooth 5.3, replacing the previous 5.1 version. The sensors appear similar to the previous model, though Xiaomi hints at potential precision improvements.

Another slight change is to do with the dimensions. While the device still measures on 9.99 in thickness, at 45.9 x 26.94mm it is slightly bigger than last year’s iteration. Its weight has also increased by 2 grams to 16.9 grams (without the strap).

European consumers can currently purchase the Smart Band 9 Active through Amazon in various markets. Pricing remains competitive, with the device available for approximately £25 in the UK and €26.99 to €29.99 across different countries. Color options include white, pink, and black, catering to diverse aesthetic preferences. You can check out the full specs on Xiaomi’s website.
